Seto sighed and shook his head, he could already see the gears turning in Jounouchi's head. Why anyone would want to cover for an abusive, murdering alcoholic, even if it was their own father, was beyond him.
"Sure, do whatever you want, although you might want to stop and consider what's in your own best interest as well as your fathers', just a suggestion. This doesn't have to be a rash decision you know. Doctors will come in, you can tell them your father came to see you and fell and hit his head, they aren't going to look into it that hard. You can always make a decision later on what you need to do, what would be right to do. I mean, it might be prudent to at least wait for the man to wake up and see how he responds...if he can be reasoned with...before trying to decide what to do," Seto suggested, laying back down after finishing his little speech.
He wasn't trying to make a decision for Jounouchi, he had opened it up to him for a reason. It was just rather clear that Jounouchi didn't have very adept judgment when it came to dealing with his father. He at least felt he should put some options out there for the other man to consider, it would arguably be to Seto's own benefit as well of course.
- - -
Hiroto didn't know why he was looking specifically for Yamada, rather than grabbing the first doctor or nurse he saw. Yet Jounouchi, and even Kaiba, didn't appear to be in any immediate danger, and he'd be lying to himself if even pretended to give a damn about Jounouchi's lowlife father right now. Given all that, he'd rather go get the doctor he sort of liked and respected, rather than rush off and get just anyone. Perhaps taking his time would be the better decision anyhow. He wasn't sure what had happened, or what his friend (or their enemy) would decide to do. It couldn't hurt to give everyone more time to reach the best possible decision on how to handle whatever the matter at hand might be.
((Mmm...I'm going to go buy food now and maybe I'll eat at the airport tonight, just really appetite dead. I did eat a sandwich and a couple of chips yesterday, so I didn't eat nothing. It's kinda nice to actually not be hungry, usually I quite often am.))

Jounouchi nodded slowly as he drank up Kaiba's words, letting everything he said and every option soak in. He decided to just focus on these options and possibilities right now, and really think this decision over, rather than waste time and energy questioning why Kaiba was leaving this decision to him, why he didn't care about getting his near murderer arrested, and why he was being so... so understanding to Jounouchi.
Instead, he simply listened to the CEO's advice, admittedly impressed that the guy was able to think so clearly and logically after all that happened, and with all the medication he must be on. "You're right..." he said quietly, probably the first time he had ever said that to Kaiba, "This doesn't need to be so rash..." he took in a deep breath, composing himself, "I'll... I'll wait for him to wake up... talk to him..." he nodded slowly. He hesitated for a moment, not sure why he felt a need to make a point of this, but ended up turning to look at Kaiba, "He's not... like that you know..." he bit his lip, realizing this was already sounding stupid, "I mean a murderer... he's never tried to do anything near that bad before... I think there's something wrong with him... he might be really drunk, or... or something." he went quiet after that, not really expecting a response; just knowing he needed to take a moment to defend his father. At least that much.
And with that, Jounouchi stood up, starting to look around the room. He straightened up everything that he could, making the room look back to normal, taking the syringe while he was at it and squirting its contents into the sink. He disposed of it in the used needle can afterward, feeling a bit of weight starting to lift off his chest. Finally, he went over to Tetsuo, dragging the man over against the wall and sitting him up, so he at least wasn't laying on the floor. He then proceeded to check the man's injuries with the tender care only someone who really loved him could show.
((Well, it's not the end of the world to not have an appetite for a couple days, but I just hope it doesn't last long, and that you do end up getting your appetite back for Christmas.))

Seto decided it would be best not to say anything, but the one thing he was certain of was that it hadn't been a raging, drunken man methodically attempting to strangle him to death. After attempting to poison him, or at least inject him with something most likely harmful. Seto realized he should have taken that needle before Jounouchi disposed of it, perhaps he could snatch it out of the container later if he got the chance. It would probably be the only one in there. Somehow he felt knowledge of the contents of the drug would give him at least some detail of the thoughts the other man was operating under. Although he wasn't sure how useful that information would be, yet he had to do something. Something seriously odd was happening with his life, and apparently Jounouchi's life, and even worse it was throwing the two of them together for some unfathomable reason. He'd have to do something about this quick.

Hiroto rushed into the room, which had clearly been cleaned up and reorganized, Jounouchi Tetsuo sitting up against the wall, his son huddled over him. Hiroto frowned slightly, but didn't say anything as Yamada walked in after him to examine the unconscious man.
Yamada asked Jounouchi what had happened, and Hiroto sighed softly to himself, eager to hear the story, sure it wouldn't be true. He was starting to wonder if Jounouchi was ever going to tell him the truth.

"Sorry about this, Sensei..." Jounouchi was frowning as he looked up at the doctor and Honda, by now having prepared his act. He wasn't good at lying or pretending on the spot, but when he had some time to think it over and plan, he wasn't half bad. "My dad's an idiot, and he was drunk. I told him I was coming to the hospital, and he mistook that for me saying I was admitting myself to the hospital, so he came to see what was wrong and check on me. He saw me come in here I guess, so came in and ended up tripping and hitting his head." he sighed, an expression on his face that looked somewhat tired and embarrassed, as if this kind of thing were something he often had to deal with, and it wasn't a big deal, just an inconvenience.
As Jounouchi said this, he chanced a glance at Honda, giving him a look that essentially said, "I know what I'm saying is full of s**t and you don't believe it. Just please play along and I'll explain everything to you in private." Though he didn't want to spend the money on any hospital bills, he didn't want to seem suspicious in not asking the next obvious thing that he should in a place like this, "If it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you be able to look his head over real quick and make sure he's okay? He has a pretty hard head, so he should be, but..." he trailed off, not needing to fake this part, genuinely feeling concern for Tetsuo's hit.

"Certainly, we wouldn't really be allowed to let him go otherwise, he did hurt himself here. I'll have him moved to observation and keep an eye on him over the next 24 hours, head injuries have to be watched not just glanced at, things can often change rapidly." Yamada declared, waving in a couple of nurses with a wheelchair between them into the room. Between Yamada and the nurses Jounouchi Tetsuo was hefted into the chair and wheeled out of the room.
Before exiting after the nurses, Yamada looked back and announced, "give me thirty minutes to run some preliminary testing and then you can come check on him." He paused for a moment before continuing further, "don't worry about forms or paperwork, since he injured himself here, incapacitated or otherwise, and this is simple observation, there really isn't any need to make this an official check in."
Yamada didn't exactly have the authority to make that call, but he was sure he'd get away with it. He was fairly certain the Jounouchi family would not have the funds or insurance necessary for a hospital stay. They probably couldn't win a law claim, but there was still something that made him want to at least make a small gesture to the clearly downtrodden family. With a final nod Yamada left the room after the nurses and his new patient.
- - -
Hiroto was extremely glad he'd made the effort to specifically track down Yamada-san. The man was a top rate physician and a first class guy. That aside, he really hoped Jounouchi wasn't going to try to find something to run off after again, it's not like he could go up to his father for another half hour anyhow.
"Well that seemed to go smoothly, mind giving me the truth now, perhaps in it's entirety up from when we parted ways in the park this morning?" Hiroto felt a little guilty about the unexpected ice in his tone, he was just sick of scurrying around after his friend, busting his butt trying to help him, and just being avoided and almost lied to repeatedly. He wanted answers, especially if he was apparently going to need to keep lying further.

Relieved of how well that had gone with Yamada Sensei, Jounouchi now turned his full attention to Honda. He didn't mind the icy tone; actually he knew he deserved it, after all this, and all his friend had been doing for him. He needed to make this up to the guy. "Okay, okay, don't throw a fit." he sighed tiredly, though gave Honda a thankful smile. He glanced over his shoulder at Kaiba, figuring the guy could probably use some time alone anyway. He would have to talk this over more with him once he got his own situation decided.
"C'mon, let's go talk in the waiting area or something." Jounouchi started making his way out of the room, "Yuugi and Anzu still around?" his tone made it obvious he wanted to keep them out of this; in other words he was asking to make sure they wouldn't intrude.
((No problem! I'm glad!))

"They are, but they should be waiting in the cafe, I doubt they'll come chasing after us anytime soon. They've got to be worried, but Yuugi at least knows better than to just blindly bump in. He'll keep Anzu distracted awhile at least," Hiroto answered, wanting to move on to the story as quickly as possibly. All this build up was definitely wearing on his nerves.
- - -
Seto lay back down after he was alone, no longer tired, pondering his life over the past 24 hours. Something was definitely amiss, and while he wasn't ready to jump aboard ship supernatural, he at least had to acknowledge that there was a mystery, the solving of which was absolutely imperative. Closing his eyes he attempted to shift through possible solutions and methods of attack - most of which unfortunately would involve Jounouchi. Maybe sleep would be the better option right now, at the very least it would hopefully be more pleasant. He hoped enough of the juice from earlier was coursing through his veins to at least help deliver him into a dreamless sleep.

"Okay." Jounouchi took a deep breath as he sat down, allowing Honda to sit across from him, "So you're wanting to know what happened back at my apartment, and then just in the hospital room, right?" he looked to his friend for confirmation, using these last few moments to gather his thoughts, and what all he was willing to actually say.

“No, actually I wanted to know if you thought teal would be a good prom dress color for me,” Hiroto snapped, he immediately flushed and felt completely ashamed. “Sorry,” he mumbled, “it’s all just kind of getting to me, and I know this is of course much harder for you, and you need to get your thoughts and whatnot together, I just don’t know how much longer I can take this you know? Yes, that’s what I want to know.”
((Hehe, I originally wrote snapped snappily, came back today not in the middle of the night after a drunken anger fest and am now *palm forehead*. Oye, genius writing there. xd ))

"Don't worry about it man..." Jounouchi snorted at the prom dress thing. Even though Honda had been trying to be a jerk, it kind of cheered him up anyway, just thinking of the guy shopping for a teal prom dress. "Really." he assured after a moment, "I know I've put it off... a lot of things have just come up and..." he sighed, deciding to not make Honda wait any longer, "So pretty much what happened when I got back home is nothing. When Oyaji woke up, he didn't remember anything and wanted me out of the apartment, so that's why I came back here.
"Then in Kaiba's room, well... I think he ended up getting more drunk or something, because..." Jounouchi bit his lip, now leaning in closer to Honda and going down to a whisper, "...listen, I'm still trying to figure out what to do about all of this, and I want your advice, but... just please don't tell anyone, okay?" he looked at Honda worriedly, knowing his friend would never want to betray his trust, but also knowing the guy was likely to do so if he felt it was for Jounouchi's own good.
((I lawled at Honda's comment. XD And snapped snappily is my new favorite phrase.))

Hiroto nodded along as Jounouchi finally regaled him with an explanation for this insanity packed day. His dad had woken up disoriented, which explained why Jou had just shown up at the hospital unexpected, and why they had had no way of predicting the older mans appearance. Hiroto was a little doubtful about the inebriation story, he hadn't seemed to be in a drunken rage as he methodically waited in the sitting area. However now might not be the best time to bring that up with Jou, especially when he wasn't sure. Why worry his friend needlessly? It couldn't possibly accomplish anything.
"Alright man," Hiroto responded once Jounouchi finished up, "I'll go along with whatever you say. Just make sure to make smart decisions ok?" After receiving what he hoped was acquiescence to the 'smart' plan from his friend, he asked, "so what are you going to do now? I know you wanted to hunt down Mokuba, who will probably be back soon. Or you going to put that off until after they let you in to see your dad?"
- - -
Yamada frowned, examining the blood work, the obtaining of which he figured would be a necessity if any sort of legal action were to arise. The supposedly stumbling, drunken man was practically sober at the time of his accident. There was a small level of intoxication, but further testing did establish Jounouchi Tetsuo as a clear alcoholic. For the man's own standards, he was practically stone cold sober. Why would his son lie and say he was drunk? The hospital would be even more culpable if a sober, healthy man had tripped over misplaced equipment. Which, considering that point, the room had appeared unnaturally bused, as if some sort of scuffle had occurred and the visitors/patients had addressed the mess on their own. Why were they lying? Or more important, who was lying. Jounouchi-san was clearly an alcoholic, his son was probably used to him being drunk, so perhaps he really assumed he was. The more pressing matter, why was he sober? Why was he here? Was caring about his son even a plausible story? It seemed harsh, but something was off, and it wouldn't be in Yamada's nature to just let it be.
For now he put the lab results aside, he'd address those at another time. Perhaps after he had felt out a few more motives he'd bring them up again. He had a good feeling about the younger Jounouchi, but he didn't want to trust those just yet. Heading back towards observation he made a mental list of anything else he might possibly want to check out before letting son reunite with his father.
((Glad you were amused, sarcasm was definitely my mood last night. Heh. Hmm...Yamada was supposed to go away, my bad, haha, he's just so fun.))

"Well... I was thinking I wouldn't go far, so Yamada could find me when he needed to, but if I run into Mokuba before then, then I'll go that route first. Otherwise I'll see my dad first..." Jounouchi sighed, leaning back, hiding a wince from his injuries, "It's like every time I get something out of the way, another thing comes up, you know? But anyway... I think what's most important right now, is I just gotta stop trying to figure everything out now, and give my mind some time to settle. Ghh, I'm not good at being patient though." he muttered in annoyance. Truth was, he couldn't get himself to calm down. He kept worrying about his father's health, or his father trying something with the doctors, or even... Kaiba's health. He felt like all of these burdens had somehow ended up on his shoulders.
((Haha, it's cool. Yamada is pretty flippin' awesome.))

Deciding there was nothing else to be done for now, Yamada headed back towards Kaiba-san's room, the man was technically his primary concern. Noticing the teenage son of his newest charge he took a quick detour into the sitting area.
"Jounouchi, your father is still unconscious, but stable and ready for visitation if you desire. I need to check on Kaiba-san, but you may head on up and I'll return to speak with you shortly. 5th floor, room 5666," Yamada announced, nodding politely at the two teenage men before making his way out of the room.
- - -
After Yamada's exit Hiroto looked up at his friend and asked, "do you want me to go with you, since he's not even awake yet?"
- - -
Couldn't say things didn't turn out quite as he expected, he wasn't yet ready for his fun to end, and his toys had been properly terrified and beaten a bit. That was something to relish.
He hoovered over Tetsuo, not yet ready to release his old on the weak-minded man. His proper target would most likely be in shortly.

"Um, it doesn't matter I guess." Jounouchi shrugged, "I really wanted to see him awake more than anything, so I can try to figure out why he did all this... so I guess I'll just be waiting for him to wake up. Pretty boring." he sighed.
