As it came closer and closer to the time the program was scheduled to begin, more visitors began to filter into the area, gathering around the flagged off perimeter that looked to be the area where the event was to take place. Civilians A and B had taken a spot front and center, the former seeming much more visibly excited than the latter; Civilian C had apparently left at some point; Noel and Lily moved to take up a place near Aulus on the right side; and Rangers B and C stood guard on either side of the flagged area. At the turn of the hour, one of the Rangers [Ranger A] moved to the center of the oval-shaped space, raising her arms to attract the audience's attention and signal for silence.

"Hello and welcome, everyone! As I'm sure you're already aware, today the Rangers of the Decolore Islands have a special treat we'd like to share with you all. We recently had the opportunity to tame a legendary pokemon, and we thought we could take this rare chance and share it with the world! The goal of our program today is to educate you about the how pokemon population of the Decolore Islands and regions like it grows and changes over time based on factors such as the available environments, nearby regions, and travel and commerce."

The Ranger moved to a side of the oval, "Regions such as our own Decolore Islands, the Orange Archipelago, the Almia region, and the Kodo region, for example, have been strongly influenced through the years by outside factors. The Decolore population in particular sees a unique mix of species from both Unova and Kanto. Similarly, while we don't have our own regional legendary pokemon like Hoenn or Kalos do, we do occasionally see wanderers from our neighbors." She raised her arm once more, gesturing to the roof of the ecology building, "With that in mind, let's introduce our star of the show - those of you in front may want to take a good step back from the flagged area!"

Without any additional warning, a form silhouetted by the sky suddenly leapt from the rooftop, plummeting towards the program area. A burst of water erupted around it as it approached the pavement, slowing its descent and cushioning its landing as well as splashing the Ranger and anyone who stayed too close to the edge of the oval.

The pokemon that stood there was a fairly small equine pokemon, a mane of red and a tail of blue flowing from its cream-colored body. A long, intimidating blue horn stood upon its forehead as it trotted in a small circle and regarded the audience with a cautious gaze.

Tambrey checked around, casually, to glance Lu and Zacharie's positions before 'scratching her ear' to check the mic' was on.
"Hope we've got a good position." She confirmed with a casual statement and excited-looking smile. "I can't -wait- to see this legendary."

....

And then there is was.
A breath caught in her throat.
"Keldeo." She would have breathed the word even without the mic'.

[Mic]

Keldeo!

Well it wasn't what he'd guessed but it was small...ish. "Wow, it's Keldeo!" he exclaimed aloud into his mic, motioning stillness to Izaya and trusting he could pass that onto his pokemon.... He could, right? He certainly hoped so.

Zacharie...was in awe.

Mouth hanging open, he watched the Keldeo trot around the around the marked off area. "...It's...cute." He muttered, resisting the unmanly urge to squish his cheeks between his hands like a schoolgirl fawning over a kitten. He bounced on his toes a bit as he shifted to try to get a better look at it.

This would be a lot easier if there weren't people right near him. A lot. Hoping that somebody might have something useful to say like 'I can see somebody with a pokeball' Aulus waited, tense and enthralled at the same moment. They had to get it, they had to!

"Uch, it got me wet," Nakura grumbled, moving away while trying to shake the excess water off his sleeves. It took a moment before he heard Aulus' voice and caught his action, eyes widening as he looked for any signs of his Zoroark behind the pokemon.

Shaking his head slowly as he stared into that direction, he hoped no one else would find it odd...but how else was he supposed to signal to a pokemon that used illusions to hide itself?

It was certainly small, but that didn't stop Kyle's shoulders from tensing up.
Keldeo was still a legendary, and small or not it could mess any one of them up.
Though, he was increasingly grateful that the pokemon wasn't one of the giant legendary.

Rory stood off in the back with Xander, trying to make sure he had a decent view of the crowd but also of the area that had been set up. Listening as the legendary was announced, his eyes widened as the pokemon descended and became almost glad they had taken the back as some of the closer attendees got splashed.

"Wow."

"Awesome!" Xander said from beside Rory. He stared at the pony unicorn for a moment then went back to looking around the crowd. At least it wasn't a flying type.

Given it was Keldeo a tissue sample was enough. Not perfect, but acceptable. Somebody had to make the call, and take the blame if it all went to s**t. Aulus swallowed and nudged Izaya. "I think this is a great chance for a shot!" he exclaimed, taking out his camera and starting to snap photographs. s**t he hoped the Grunt took the hint because if not he was just going to have to yell that catch phrase and hope for the best. Might have to do it anyway if the Zoroark plan went off badly.

Eh? What? Had he read the first signal wrong, then?

"Make up your mind," the grunt hissed back at Aulus as he made a sharp gesture to point at the water-type, staring intently behind it. He must have looked ridiculous. Might as well say something to accompany the random pointing.

"Uh...it's so...water-y...!!" He honestly couldn't tell what made this pokemon more 'Legendary' than any other. "Shoot, it drenched my camera."

Riviere, confused as he was, finally decided to go for it. Extending the illusion of the Keldeo over both himself and the true Legendary, he slashed at it lightly with his claws. It was so small...he didn't want to risk hurting it too much.

Aulus, still taking pictures, glanced at Izaya. "Watery? You really do have a way with words, don't you?" he observed with a little laugh that had nothing to do with humour and everything to do with nerves. If this went wrong it was his fault now, but that was responsibility for you; always lurking over your shoulder waiting to bite you in the arse.

Noel's shoulders relaxed slightly at the reveal of the pokemon, apparently disappointed that it wasn't the Lake Guardian she was hoping for.

The Keldeo snorted lightly at the oohing audience, not staying in any one place for terribly long but, true to the ranger's earlier words, not leaving the perimeter they had set up.

"As I've noticed many of you already know, this pokemon is Keldeo!" the ranger announced, shaking water from her arms and gesturing to the little horse. "As you can see from its large blue horn and the decoration on its mane, this is Keldeo's Resolute Forme. That means that this Keldeo in particular knows the move Secret Sword, which--"

The Keldeo, startled and aggressed by Riviere's sudden presence, reeled around and bucked hard with its back hooves, shooting a jet of water from them as it did.

Alright.
So. Moment of truth.
It wasn't hard to keep an expression of genuine awe while watching the diminutive equine pokémon, but at the back of her mind, Tambrey knew that, now, any moment, they'd have to act.
They just had to keep their eyes peeled for this thing's ball... And be ready to fight.
Ah. Like probably any moment.
The Keldeo was reacting.
Her hand went to Treestar's ball, readying herself.

Aulus lowered his camera as Keldeo kicked out, heart racing as fast as a Rapidash's gallop. "What was that?" he wondered aloud. Maybe, maybe if they could pretend they wanted to help... maybe they could get close and have a moment where they still held the element of surprise to act.
