Amelia Cross “It shouldn’t be a problem as long as there aren’t too many machines between here and there. Just give me a minute. Where are you?” Came her reply through the radio. Not that they had time for her to waste, ever second meant more dead or injured. The Medics had more or less patched up her arm so she wasn’t bleeding all over the place and given her some pain killers to make things manageable before rushing off to the next person. The actual fixing of her arm would need to come later when Sybil was gone, the only alternative being that they would be all dead. So, even though under normal circumstances she doubted they would let her leave to join any kind of combat, they were far too busy to stop her or even notice really. From the relative safety of the medical centre, far away from combat, Amelia made her way back to the carnage of the front lines. Blood and hydraulic fluid mixed together on the asphalt as both sides took heavy losses. Fortunately, though probably high on Sybil’s list of people to kill the machines that had broken the front lines were preoccupied with those who were shooting at them rather than one girl with her arm in a sling sneaking across the battle field with no noticeable armour or weapons. If there was a machine too close to her location one more of the spider drones would run off to dismantle it before returning. The last 500 meters was a bit trickier though. Will’s building was taking heavy fire. After a moment of thought she issued a command to the bots to clear out the machines, leaving only a couple to protect herself. After all she was a sitting duck with the spider drones. “We’re here.”

When Will saw Amelia he moved out of the building and jogged over to her so she would have to close less distance. "Take me to where Adrian died. " His tone made the urgency clear and he began walking in the general direction. He knew that Adrian had gone away from the tower in the direction that Will was now walking but he didn't know the exact building that Adrian had made it to. That was why he needed Amelia to guide him. Fortunately they were moving away from the remains of the tower and so Sybil would not pay as much attention to them as it would pay to the rebels clearing rubble.

Amelia Cross Amelia nodded following Will at a quick pace. A whistle had the spider drones scurrying on the ground ahead of them, some scouting ahead, others getting the flanks while a few followed behind. Soon Amelia took the lead, guiding Will through the city streets while the pair left the battle behind. Only minutes into their venture they ran into a small group of machines sent around back to try to ambush the Rebels from behind. "Look out." Amelia called out to Will even as she moved to duck behind vehicle parked on the street and bullets flew through the air. Of course Will was probably already ahead of her considering her limited combat experience. The bots scuttled towards the machines, small and quick they were difficult for the machines to hit. Once within a few feet of the target the spiders leaped forward and landed on the machine. A small laser had a hole in the armour within seconds and soon the spider disappeared inside. Another few seconds and the machine shut down, collapsing to ground, and the spider emerged again to move onto the next target. If they had more, if they had waited long enough for Amelia to make an army of them, if Amelia and Adrian had ever discussed them as an option perhaps they could have won this war without casualties. Certainly a lot less than they had already lost and would continue to lose until they shut down Sybil. With the last of the machines shut down Amelia struggled slightly to stand up, using her good arm to brace herself against the car. She was not unaware that Will would be able to move much faster without her, but hopefully the spider drones quickly dispatching the enemy machines made up for some of the time she was costing them. "This way." A couple more blocks brought them back to the building where she had left Adrian to die. Where she had watched him push the President off of the roof. Had watched them both fall. It was that distraction that had cost her her arm and nearly her life. Out front sat the truck they had taken to get there, however it seemed Sybil had done some work to disable it before sending the machines to join the battle. The hood sat open a few pieces of the engine sitting on the ground in front.

Will followed carefully and quietly. He was unfazed by the brief interruption but the discovery of the damaged truck was less welcome. He moved past the engine with little hope of repairing it yet a** he passed he told Amelia to "See what you can do about fixing the engine." before he moved to the back and threw open the two back doors. He was relieved to find the bomb in tact. It was smaller than most would expect roughly the size of a hand grenade. Not the large ultimate weapon that everyone would expect. The actual bomb was still in the locked chest at the back of the flatbed trailer. The bomb itself was all they needed but one of the original plans had been to simply drive the truck into the tower and let it go off, meaning the walls of the flatbed were lined with plastic explosives all primed. If Amelia could fix the engine, they could take the whole truck, if not, then Will would just grab the bomb.

Amelia Cross As per Will's instructions, Amelia walked to the front of the truck and looked over the engine inside while Will inspected the back. "Old technology, of course." She mumbled to herself. That made finding replacement parts anywhere around here next to impossible, not to mention the fact that she didn't have any tools with her. "It'll take more time than we probably have. What about hot wiring a solar car and hooking it up to the trailer?" She suggested instead, though the option would be riskier. Sybil would certainly be wondering why a car was active, but maybe it was too busy to even notice.

"No time. Come on." Will replied to Amelia as he broke the box open with his axe and removed the bomb from inside. It was entirely circular, a sphere with no ridges or bumps looking more futuristic than anything the Resistance had used up until this point. It was Adrian's one hypocritical b*****d. The child they hated to accept, a bomb made from everything Sybil had given them, every advancement. Will slipped it into a pouch he had brought with him and tied the pouch onto his belt before leaving the back of the truck. "I have what we need let's go."

Amelia Cross Amelia walked around to the back of the truck, curious as to what they were going to without the bomb, just in time to see Will put a small perfect sphere into a pouch. “Is that it? What about all of that?” She questioned gesturing to the flatbed trailer behind the truck. Machines she knew explosives not so much since there wasn’t a need for some sort of bomb machine in Sybil’s world. Or at least not that she knew of, though theoretically someone else working for Sybil could have been working on. “What is the plan when we get back?” Amelia started heading back the way they had come with the escort of little spiders. Even if the rubble had managed to be cleared it seemed somewhat suicidal to just run out into the open with the bomb to try and drop it down the elevator shaft. Was it even powerful enough or did they need to get it into the brain room itself?

"The rest of the explosives were to be used to level the building but the tanks have done that. With the piece I have well be able to destroy the bottom level." All they had to do was get to the shaft and drop it. They could not be anywhere near the actual blast when it went off. If the explosion didn't destroy the brains, the rubble from the underground levels collapsing would so the moment they tossed it they would need to get clear of the tower. "The plan is we have men defend us while I drop the bomb down the elevator shaft."

Amelia Cross “That tiny thing is going to destroy the entire bottom level?” Amelia said somewhat disbelieving as they walked towards the battle. How could all of their fates be in the hands of something so small? Lucky it was though or they would be more or less SOL. She didn’t say anything for a while after Will explained the plan. It was suicidal in her opinion but a better idea didn’t immediately come to her. One of Adrian’s chief complaints. “What about the tanks? Couldn’t we-“ The thought was interpreted by a woman screaming and running from her apartment building, blood soaked with an arm wrapped around her abdomen. Behind her came one of the domestic cooking and cleaning bots brandishing a large kitchen knife. Amelia froze at the sight even as one of the spider drones scuttled off to go deal with the rouge bot.

"Amelia, we live in a world where a rouge AI tries to dictate our lives and you find it hard to believe that we couldn't condense the power of a nuclear bomb into a hand grenade? Have a little faith." Will was exaggerating a little. It was more like a mini nuke than an actual atom bomb. Big blast, a bit of radiation after, but it wouldn't level a city, just a building. "The tanks were covered by the tower when it fell. they are out of reach now-" Will's knee-jerk reaction to the screaming woman and the suddenly aggressive cooking and cleaning bot was to shoot the machine and that was what he did. He took aim with his shotgun and fired.

Amelia Cross The domestic bot had no armour so naturally Will’s shotgun shot easily took it out blowing a rather large hole in it. “Oh my God Will. It’s killing everyone…” Amelia stood frozen in place, her good hand over her mouth, staring wide eyed at the woman. The implications were chilling. It wasn’t just the resistance that Sybil was fighting. It wasn’t just the law enforcement drones that were attacking people. When had it done this? How? With everything else going on it shouldn’t have had time to upload new commands to the other machines. How many people were already dead? The woman badly needed medical treatment, that much clear, even as she limped towards them simultaneously thanking them, begging for help and explain how the bot had suddenly attacked her. It would seem cruel to leave her here in the street to bleed out, but the longer they took the more people would die. With only one workable arm there wasn’t much Amelia could do to help her on her own.

Will didn't stop moving. "Amelia stay here with her, get her into a nearby building and hide. I will send help once Sybil is dealt with." He didn't have time to stop and help some woman who had been wounded by a machine not designed to fight. The needed to move now. He viewed the lives of the many as greater than the life of one. That was a lesson Adrian had taught him that he would not forget.

Amelia Cross “Will…” But already he was retreating down the street without her. She glanced at the woman, then back to Will. What the hell was she supposed to do? She had no supplied and getting them would be difficult. A selfish part of her was tempted to go after Will already knowing the likely fate of the woman and not wanting to be a part of it. Not after what had happened earlier. The moment passed and Amelia turned towards the stranger leaving Will to end the war without her. “Let’s get you inside. Him? He’s going to stop the machines.” Or die trying.

Will made it back to the building he had first held up in after the Tower fell. Wounded were being treated here and this was where he had left his radio (on accident.) He picked it up and requested a medical team be sent out beyond the pale to helped Amelia. They responded saying they would send one when they could, meaning they would only send one when Sybil was destroyed. Knowing this Will requested a progress update on finding the shaft only to hear that they had found it but Mason had been to eager. He moved out to secure the area and had been torn apart. They lost contact so they could not confirm he was dead but it was the most likely outcome. Then Will gave the order to press inward and secure the location.

Things weren’t looking great on the front lines. Sybil had managed to push them back in light of Adrian’s death, Will going dark briefly and Mason likely also being dead. Whispers and doubts had managed to spring up, that Will had left is radio on purpose, that he had taken Amelia and ran. Didn’t you know they had been sharing a room? It was a feat of humankind to manage gossip even in the most dire of situations. With his return to the airwaves most of the doubters had been silenced. Most. She probably managed to get injured again so he had to come back some scoffed, but with orders for one last push, one final assault, the mood had improved incredibly. Hope. Something Sybil had a technical understanding of, it had managed to keep the human population complicate for these many years after all, but it was certainly something its army of machines didn’t feel. The battle quickly changed as the men and women pressed forward in an attempt to provide Will with one last shot at Sybil. It was all or nothing now, freedom or death.
