but Hell, the games are still fun. ^_^ and that's all that matters, right?

They're probably just giving out Pikachu that know Volt Tackle, Thunder, Thunderbolt and Iron Tail and calling it "Ash's Pikachu".
Y'know since it uses those four moves to this day now in the anime.
