Harrowing
A harrowing is a reading into the future of a character... and many things can be learned from this art. Jo(shu) Michieru has chosen to undergo this rite...
A Harrowing Table is split into nine different sections, as follows:
LG - NG - CG LN - TN - CN LE - NE - CE
The left column represents the past, the middle column represents the present, and the right column represents the future. The top row represents a positive aspect, the middle row represents uncertainty, and the bottom row shows a negative aspect. There are six different aspects of a human that matter in a Harrowing, and Shu has chosen Charisma - all cards from that aspect are especially important. Furthermore, he has chosen the Neutral Good position (top center) as an important reading. Now, then... let us see the results.
*Rolls on a randomizer*
The alignments of Shu's cards are as follows:
CG - CE - CE CG - NG - LG LN - NG - TN
The second, third, and eighth cards are misaligned and use a different meaning than usual. The following are the cards themselves, as spread:
The Publican - The Lost - The Demon's Lantern The Desert - The Keep - The Dance The Locksmith - The Theater - The Peacock
Let us begin with the top row.
The positive side of Shu's past is represented by the Publican, who represents goodness and camaraderie. The positive in his present is a misaligned Lost, representing clarity of mind under duress - I dare say those kids popping up had something to do with this, and he still successfully fought off that crazy-tongued demon. This was also the card he chose, making it especially important for him. The positive side of his future, the misaligned Demon's Lantern, represents a guide who lights the way out - probably towards a better relationship with those kids.
For uncertainty, his past is the Desert - representing a bleak passage and the times when he didn't know where he would go. His uncertain present is the Keep, representing an inability to be shaken when threatened - but its position suggests that he will be wavering instead of boldly deciding. His uncertain future is the Dance, which represents staying in harmony - and he may or may not be able to harmonize with friends and family.
Shu's negative past is the Locksmith, which represents the keys to a new destiny. There may well have been something important he missed obtaining in the past *Cough*MeraMeraNoMi*Cough*, a key to a destiny that will never be realized. His negative present is a misaligned Theater, which states that prophecy is unreliable and that he should avoid trusting in what he believes the future will be. This card is abnormally important - it is the only Charisma card in the spread, and that was the aspect he chose. On top of that, it's the alignment he chose - this is THE most important card in the entire spread. His negative future is the Peacock, representing a sudden personal shift - he will change in a great way at some point, but others are unlikely to be happy about this.
His uncertainty is the only full line in his spread, representing a significant aspect of his life - and we all know how uncertain he can be on many different issues. Those three cards are of increased important in his life, and are elements he should be watchful of. In addition, the only evil cards in this spread are misaligned, having been placed in positive positions instead - though evil and misfortune may confront him, it seems he will rise above it.
And that is the knowledge I have read from these cards...

And now our good buddy Zorc has stepped up! His attribute is Wisdom, his position is Chaotic Good, and the randomizer is going to tell us his spread...
TN - TN - LN LE - NG - CG CG - NG - LE
There is a straight row of neutrality representing his positive aspects. In addition, there are two misaligned cards - the seventh and eighth spots. Zorc's role card (matching his attribute and position) has also appeared, and is an opposite match - this is by far the most important card of the spread. The cards themselves:
The Twin - The Teamster - The Forge The Rakshasa - The Midwife - The Desert The Publican - The Cricket - The Tangled Briar
Zorc's positive past is the Twin, a card of Charisma representing duality of purpose and identity - such as finding love (Twinny) and work, and being both human and demon-infested. His positive present is the Teamster, a Constitution card that represents driving external pressure - mostly onto Twinny. His positive future is the Forge, a card of Strength that represents strength through diversity. He will be successful by trying many different approaches.
Zorc's uncertain past is the Rakshasa, a card of Intelligence which represents dominance and mind control. We don't know if he's really in charge, or if his demon partner is really calling the shots. His uncertain present is the Midwife, a card of Wisdom that represents new information. This card matches his attribute, and is important - and its position in uncertainty means that he may or may not get the information he needs. His uncertain future is the Desert, a card of Constitution representing a bleak passage, and he may or may not have bleakness ahead of him.
Zorc's negative past - and BY FAR the most important card in the spread due to being an opposite match role card - is the Publican. In this position, it means that refuge cannot be found - and the Publican's nature as one who announced things reveals that he could not take refuse from his nature, and that this tripped him up when it was most important (his meeting with Pyrrha). His negative present is the Cricket, another reversed card - it's a card of Dexterity, and means that his journey goes poorly - as anyone who's seen his attempts at wooing would know. His negative future is the Tangled Briar, which means that ancient triumphs return - and these will not go well for him, perhaps triumphing over the things that currently matter.
The line of neutrality on the positive side of things means that he will continue to stay away from major sides, and that this will go well for him.
Such is the knowledge I have read in the cards...

Next up in our series of Harrowings is... Gin Mishima! With an attribute of Strength and a position of Neutral Good, let's see what the cards have to say...
The alignment positions of his cards are:
LE - TN - TN TN - LG - CN CN - CG - LE
There are two misaligned cards - 1 and 8. In addition, four of these cards are representative of Gin's chosen attribute ( 1, 2, 7, and 8 ), and one of them - 6 - is a perfect match. That both misaligned cards are within his alignment is very interesting indeed. As for the cards...
The Fiend - The Bear - The Foreign Trader The Peacock - The Trumpet - The Rabbit Prince The Uprising - The Big Sky - The Avalanche
Gin's positive past is represented by the Fiend, a card of Strength. As a misaligned card, its meaning is salvation from a calamity, representing his decision to leave many of his troubles behind and make the most of what remains in his youth. His positive present - and the alignment position that matters to him - is the Bear, another card of Strength. Its meaning is that brute force reigns, and his belief in himself and his power is what carries him through troubles. Gin's positive future is the Foreign Trader, a card of Intelligence, representing an informative pact. There will be a deal in his future that is of great benefit to him.
Now for Gin's uncertainty. His past is the Peacock, a card of Dexterity that tells of a sudden personal shift. The changes he's made in his life as a star may or may not be a good decision. His uncertain present, the Trumpet, is a card of Constitution that represents a declaration of power. While the card of the Bear shows that brute force will help him, the Trumpet's position below it means that he should be wary of advertising his power to others. His uncertain future is a true match, and therefore extremely important - the Rabbit Prince is a card of Dexterity that represents the capriciousness of battle, and tells us that Gin's current success with brute strength may be unsuccessful for him in the future.
His negative past is the Uprising, another card of Strength. It refers to an overwhelming groundswell - the public opinion that bore him up was not a positive effect on his life. His negative present, the Big Sky, is a fourth card of Strength... but misaligned. Here, it means that new shackles have replaced the old - his strength may power him, but he is not truly free to be himself. His negative future is the Avalanche, a card of dexterity showing unthinking, unrelenting disaster.
Gin is indeed a potent fellow, but the cards can tell us many things... and I dare say that there will be a time in Gin's life when his strength fails, perhaps at the time it matters the most. Nevertheless, there is some hope - the informative pact mentioned in his positive future may be enough to salvage the situation even when his own power fails, and I encourage him to continue building friendships and seeking for true allies he can rely upon.
