Leon just about threw up at Callisto's slap to his back, and shakily put his money down for the remainder of the room. He also just about had his arm torn off when she grabbed his wrist. She was certainly in a hurry, most likely because of the implications she thought they had by being alone together in a hotel room. Once they were in the room, she let go, and Leon had a moment to catch his breath. "Well, Christ, I'm awake after the jolt you just gave me! ...Wait, the tub? Um...isn't that going to be uncomfortable?"

Adventurous Mermaid  "Jolt? I can't use shock magic though. The tub's more comfortable than you think! Nice and dark too! But since you're awake anyway..." She answered as she set her pack down next to the table and held up a deck of cards. With a grin she beckoned him to come over. "C'mon! Let's play for a bit!" She failed to notice that he was hurting from her rough handling of him. Callisto pulled out a chair for him and started dealing.

Leon was dumbfounded at Callisto's ability to change attitudes so quickly. At one moment she was freaking out over the thought of being embarrassed at a hotel, then she said she was sleeping in the tub, and they should play cards. "C-Cards...? What made you decide to bring those out?"He definitely didn't feel tired anymore, considering he was just whisked through the halls at top speed.

Adventurous Mermaid Callisto was quiet for a moment as she looked over at him. Had her attempt to change topic been that noticable? She wondered for a moment if he was upset about something but decided fairly quickly that she was just reading his expression incorrectly again. "You said earlier that you wanted to talk more, right? I figured we could play a game while we do that" She'd only learned about card games when she came to this island and so far had enjoyed playing when she got the chance to. But was this something she wasn't supposed to be doing right now? Was she getting carried away again? "Did you have something... difficult you wanted to talk about?"She asked as delicately as she could. Her intonation was awkward since she was so used to speaking first without taking the time to think about what sbe was about to say first. She set the deck down and turned towards him to show that he had her full attention. She even pulled her hood down so that it'd be easier for him to see her face while he was speaking to her.

"Well...no...no, it's nothing. I'm just surprised you can switch attitudes so quickly. Are you okay? You were in quite the rush." Leon felt something was going on, so he pressed the topic a bit further. He didn't want to make Callisto uncomfortable, but the things that just happened definitely had him wondering. She asked to sleep in the tub, and she seemed extremely flustered at the thought of being alone in a hotel with a man, likely because of the connotations it had. But why did she care now?

Adventurous Mermaid "Yep, I'm fine!" She answered quickly, pretty surprised by the question. So he thought she was acting strangely. She was quiet for a moment as she pondered over what had caused him to ask that question. Then tensed up as she realized what he was probably getting at. "O-oh... You mean when we got here? Uh... Hmm..." She didn't know quite how to say it without sounding incredibly insensitive. To say that she thought that the way the checked in gave other people a weird impression of them might be rude, right? She really wished she hadn't panicked at that time. Why didn't she just ask for a room with two beds? It wasn't that much more expensive. She glanced over at him with the hope that he'd just drop it. But if he were this--worried? Concerned? Perplexed? She didn't think he would. She couldn't think of a good way to say it either. Could she just make up something else? Every second felt like minutes passing and she felt the pressure to just say what was on her mind. She didn't want to lie to her new friend, as embarrassing as it was. She thought that the truth would be just as embarrassing as whatever lie she could come up with.
She crossed her arms over her chest and made a point of looking to the ceiling. "So... I..." It was so embarrassing to admit it and it wasn't like she thought it was a huge problem. In the moment she'd been too hasty. She was really regretting that now, since she had to say such an awkward thing. The longer it took for her to say it the worse she felt it was to admit. If not for her dark grey complexion, she was sure her face would be as red as his had been earlier. "It's... It's really embarrassing to say it. It's not like I have a problem with the idea of it--but I think I should since we're friends? I.. uh... Thought that... Well, since I've been staying here for a few days now the people who work here recognize me. I thought that it might be a problem--I'm not that kind of person though! So, at the time I just went by my gut and thought that we should hurry. C-cause your face was all red and it reminded me of the couples I've seen come here and I didn't want to give people the impression that we were here sharing a room to... 'mate'." It took her a while to get to what had been bothering her but the moment she did she went dead silent for a split second. Why was that the most delicate word she could think of for it? Why did she need to think of a nicer way to say it anyway? It wasn't a bad thing. Some humans were weird about it and she didn't know Leon well enough to know if he was like that as well. He'd said he wasn't experienced at all when it came to relationships. So, awkwardly, she was trying to explain it without saying too much. As she became more embarrassed she couldn't stand the silence and began to speak very quickly to the point that her words were running together.
"I-It's not that I care! Not about that! It's just so different from what I'm used to--the relationships people have up here are so complicated! I don't care if people thought that, I really don't! It's just different! It's hard to tell when a human thinks you're flirting with them! I just didn't know and you just got here what if that made you look bad--Not that I think it's! I don't! I don't think you're like that either and I thought that if I hurried it wouldn't look like that! But, geez, I guess it just looked even more like I was dragging you away like a trophy kill or something. I'm sorry." She dropped her head into her open palm and kept her eyes glued to the floor, feeling absolutely mortified. The entire time she'd been speaking she told herself to stop talking. If she just stopped trying to explain herself this would naturally cease to be an issue and they could just forget about it. She didn't care for her sake if people thought that she was getting a room with a random human to have sex with. She wasn't the type to do that, for various reasons. But giving that impression didn't bother her. She hadn't taken the time to think and just simply acted on instinct. She was too mortified to look at him. She wondered if by being honest about how stupid she'd been she'd just cost herself a new and interesting friend. Maybe even just trying to explain it in a more human-relatable way had made it worse.

We could be sitting here playing cards, and they'll think we had the most wild, rampant sex in the history of the world. Its how human imagination works."Leon sat down, smiling, and put his hand on hers, trying to get her to calm down. "If people think you brought back a guy to have fun with, I'm flattered such a beautiful woman chose me to spend the night with. You don't have to apologize."Leon tried to be as honest as he could. She was obviously upset, and he probably pushed the topic too far.

Adventurous Mermaid Callisto looked to his hand briefly, noting how in her current form hers was smaller than his. His hands were also rougher. Not majorly important details, but she noticed them all the same. She looked up at him and studied his expression. She didn't think for a moment that he could be lying to her to make this exchange less awkward. He really didn't seem angry or annoyed at all. He wasn't bothered by people thinking that? His compliment made her feel a little pang of guilt because of the secrets she'd still have to keep from him. But as she realized that he might be flirting with her a playful smile soon lit up her face. She straightened her posture and used her free hand to lightly smack his shoulder. This time, even though she was reenergized she remembered to restrain herself. She didn't think for a moment that he might still be feeling her last playful slaps. "Leon, you're so sly! Here I was thinking you weren't good with women! If I didn't know better I'd think you were seducing me just now." She laughed lightheartedly, truly glad that he still wanted to be friends after all of that painful awkwardness. She hadn't thought that he might be serious or that maybe that's why he was interested in sharing a room with her in the first place. She just blindly trusted her new friend and didn't think there was anything wrong with that.

"Oh come on, I'm not that smooth. Besides, you're the attractive one here."Leon wasn't thinking when he said it, and quickly regretted when he did. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable, especially since she was so kind and friendly. And now, he might have just messed everything up, because he didn't know how to talk to girls. If he was being honest though, he did think she was very pretty. "S-Sorry! I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable!"

Adventurous Mermaid Callisto blinked, watching as it was his turn to become overly worried. She grinned again and raised both hands. Then she pat his shoulders a couple times at either side of his neck, simultaneously. With him sitting next to her it was easy. "No worries! I'm really happy to hear you say that." She grabbed hold of his shoulders and squeezed a bit, smiling all the while. She laughed a bit, thinking how funny if was that he was embarrassed right now. "It's like I've infected you with my nervousness... Relax! Breathe and be calm." She paused for a bit, considering the fact that he'd complimented her looks twice. It brought up memories of one of her friends back home. She always told her that she was so gullible she'd end up coming home pregnant. She tilted her head a bit and broke eye contact to look away from him. Was that even possible with a human? She honestly had no idea and didn't intend on being super intimate unless she could trust her partner. Even though she'd been told many a time that she wasn't allowed to let anyone find out and live. But Leon was nice and becoming flustered over a compliment was kind of cute. Surely that sort of end would never come.
"Y'know, if you're serious why don't we go on a date..." As she spoke she caught sight of the clock and how late it was now. "Tomorrow." Being a human he'd probably want to be awake in the morning. She wasn't looking forward to how bright the sun would be or having to make an excuse every few hours to get away. But they did need to go to sleep and she did need to refresh soon. She'd thought she had more time but knew from experience what could happen if she waited too long. She looked back at him, still holding on to his shoulders, and smiled again. "Wanna turn our outing tomorrow into a date instead?"

"A...A date? I mean, sure! Though I won't really know what I'm doing..." Leon was beet red at this point. Not only did Callisto take his compliment, but had offered a date in return. He hadn't anticipated her to respond like that. It was funny actually. Here, where he had aimed to fight some of the world's most powerful beings, instead he found a date with what seemed like a dark elf. Obviously there were questions that still needed answering, but if this relationship would continue progressing like it seemed it would, they would answer themselves in due time. "You...really want to go on a date?"

Adventurous Mermaid "Hmm... Yep." She answered, smiling as she looked up at him. Even his ears were red. She simply couldn't resist the desire to take off one of her gloves and touch her bare hand to his cheek. She grinned playfully and laughed again. "You're so hot!" She touched his forehead and other cheek before stopping herself. She was starting to feel guilty about it, as fun as she thought it was. Due to her dark complexion it was harder to tell when she was blushing so touching him gave her an idea. She pointed at her own face with a grin and spoke her mind with ease. "Next time I'm all worked up I'll let you touch my face too if you want! I don't get as warm as you do though." She didn't have any hidden intentions nor was she trying to be clever. She was literally offering to let him touch her face at some point in the future.
She shifted on her chair, crossing her legs at the ankles as bringing her heels in towards herself. She adjusted her skirt and cloak to drape over the chair so they wouldn't be in her way. She felt a bit more comfortable being around him now than she had before. Though in all honesty she'd just blindly trusted him when she suggested splitting the cost of a room. "You said you've never dated before but I've never dated a human. Actually, you're my first date since coming to the surface. Come to think of it, it has been a second... I've seen some of how people behave when they date each other on this island so I've got an idea. I'm not super familiar with the rules and all. So if you think I'm being weird you should just tell me. I don't want a repeat of what just happened."

"I'm not going to lie...I'm kind of excited."Leon smiled, but became a little confused when she touched his face. Her touch was very soft and gentle, especially when just a little bit ago, she had slapped his back with a tremendous amount of force. However, Leon took note of a few key words. She mentioned "Surface", and "letting him touch her face". One phrase didn't really matter, and he dismissed it as a bit of flirting, making it seem like Callisto was returning a bit of playful banter. But "Surface" made some questions travel to the front of his mind. From what he had read, dark elves didn't live underground. And they certainly couldn't live under water. It also brought up the thing she had mentioned earlier, of sleeping in the tub. Maybe he wasn't supposed to delve deeper than this, but he had a suspicion that she was something else entirely. He would have to plan to figure it out later.

Adventurous Mermaid Callisto noticed that he seemed a little distracted and raised a brow. It only took a moment for her to disregard it as a need for sleep. Not everyone had her boundless energy. "Yep, it's going to be fun." She thought about her separate key to their room and the time of night. Whether she took a nap now or later only mattered if they were leaving early. Another thought was if the sun would be bright out and wondering how hot it would be. Even just sitting in their inn room at night, wearing all the layers she needed to hide her bioluminescent patterns, she was pretty hot. She wasn't fully acclimated to the temperatures outside of the deepest depths of the ocean. She'd been told that it was warmer up here but if it was a hot day that would be a problem. She had sunglasses for her eyes, which were better suited to a low-to-no-light environment. But these were things she should've thought about before making promises to go on a date the next day.
It all depended on when they woke up in the morning. She didn't really have to wear as many layers during the day since her pattern only glowed in darkness. But it was still annoying. "Ugh... I hope it's not too sunny out tomorrow. I'm only half dark elf but I hate it when it's super bright out." She sighed and shrugged. It wasn't something she could do much about. Being weak to the sun was something she shared with dark elves and she knew that. Although the reactions were different ultimately the result would be the same. She'd been told as much by her tribe's wise woman. But didn't remember too much else about the dark elves since when they were teaching her she'd been preoccupied with fantasizing about the surface. As she stood up she picked up her pack. "Well, you seem pretty tired so I'll let you go to sleep now. I'm going to go get a drink. Want me to bring you back anything?" Knight Of The Dark Void ((Sh*t. I just assumed that the Demon Realm was basically the Underdark and didn't even bother to check first. emotion_zombie My bad. ))

"Well...I'll actually head to bed. I have to get my morning training in, so I should get some sleep." Leon definitely felt tired, and needed to take it easy. Considering his trip today, it would be a terrible idea to stay up late. He was strangely... fascinated with Callisto. Something about her was odd, but it kept him guessing. A date would be a good chance to get to know her. He proceeded to take off his shirt, not really caring that a girl was there, and began stretching before getting in bed.
