"Yeah... Yeah, maybe..." Clancy grumbled, as he felt it was more like the champion was accidentally rubbing it in... By the time they saw those two again, the mission would probably be done and how the heck was going to get anything after that?!

"Um. We have all had very good training." Tambrey spoke, nodding "Some of us have worked together for... quite a while, so we, um, know what to expect of each other. Not all of us though; this is the first real big thing for the whole group..."

"I see!" Diantha replied, cheerful. "Well, you do all mesh together very well. It may be worth telling your division leader so the next time a 'big thing' comes along he'll know who to go to! Ah, speaking of that," a curiosity came into her expression, "the Santalune branch sent you, correct? How is Bernard doing these days?"

Nope. This wasn't going to work. If Diantha kept asking more personal questions, things would fall apart. Adam took a deep breath and walked forward from where he hung in the back, "This is my first time, actually.. It was nerve -- Augh!" Adam stumbled and fell to his knees, holding his side with a grimmacing expression, "S-something... Hurts really.. Bad. I think the stairs did more... T-than I thought."

"Hrm?" Were they supposed to keep stringing her along? Clancy could totally do this at least! "Oh.. Oh, aye. From Sandaloons... Ol' Berny. 'E's still jolly 's ever, bloomin' ol' gent 'e is..."

Tambrey hadn't known how to reply. She certainly wouldn't have replied as Clancy just had, however. Her eyes widened slightly and she looked carefully toward KO. This might not be good. KO could talk fast.. Perhaps he could fix it! She might make it worse...

Lex moved towards Adam, wincing at the sudden stumble, thing were falling apart quickly and he knew he should have slapped that Vow of Silence on Clancy. "You okay Sammy?" he asked, keeping close to the younger grunt as Clancy possibly just slaughtered their cover.

Why was everyone making everything worse?

"You're a real card Ian but not while one of our friends is writhing in pain hu?" KO would dearly have loved to give Adam and Clancy both a good smack around the head, though at least Adam thought he was helping, he just didn't have the medical knowledge to realise that his ruse wouldn't come off if the Champion had any to speak of.

"It can't be from the fall, you'd have felt it more by now," KO said, hurrying forward to Adam with a look of concern on his face. "Where does it hurt?" he asked, crouching down with his back to Diantha. "Chest? Abdomen?" He gave Adam a very, very meaningful look when he said 'abdomen'; congratulations Adam, you get to have gallstones!

Oh! That might work!
"Oh no! Is he alright, Keith?" Tambrey called, watching as KO hurried over.

Clancy looked confused. Was Adam actually hurt? Surely he actually would have felt it earlier... What was going on?

Diantha looked to Adam with a mixture of surprise and concern. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! It shouldn't be too long for us to get out of here; will you be all right leaning on someone until then? How very fortunate that the injury didn't ail you during the confrontation with the Rockets earlier!" She looked pointedly to Clancy, "Hopefully the wound will heal just as well as Bernard's fatal heart attack from two years ago..."

Frost hung back from the unfolding drama, unsure of how to contribute. It was probably better that he didn't interfere overmuch because he really had no idea what he was doing.

(Lex and KO)

Adam shook his head as he responded to Lex, "No... I don't know. Just hurts." There was enough bruising from the fall on his pale skin that it could work. Unfortunately, Adam didn't know enough about medical. When KO knelt and said what he did, the grunt realized that he was in hot water. So adrenaline wouldn't cover as an excuse for not feeling the fall in the stairs pain? s**t on a stick.

"Y-yeah, my abdomen. It hurts a lot... But not the fall? Ugh." He rested his head against Ko's shoulder and groaned. Whispering softly so only the other man could hear him, he asked "Symptoms?" If the fall wasn't it and KO clearly wanted him to go with abdomen, then what else could he do?

"Yeah hopefully!" Clancy readily agreed as he replied to Diantha then froze. Wait what. "Uh... I mean..." His eyes widened nervously. He needed help!

[Adam, KO]

"Think all this just became mute point," he muttered, keeping close to KO and Adam, motioning to Grims to get ready. "Think... yeah, Clancy just screwed our cover over big time." He wasn't sure how to cover this up and he knew they should have gone through any information on those dex's before continuing forward.

"Any way to pull this out? And fast?" He muttered to KO.

"Sudden severe abdominal pain, could well be gallstones," KO said - that much detail was about all Adam needed - and then... then he registered what Diantha had said.

Was there even any point in pretence anymore?

Clancy spoke again and KO decided that there probably was not, if Diantha hadn't already been deeply suspicious of them she wouldn't have asked about 'Bernard' as though he was alive. Did he exist at all or had he just been a trap for them to fall into, had the right answer been 'who's Bernard'?

KO looked up. "I don't know any Bernard, though I've not been in the area two years," he replied, "but as you might have guessed back there, Ian... kind of struggles with names -memory issues - he's embarrassed about it so he pretends he knows what he's taking about. As you see, it gets weird."

[KO/Diantha / Clancy roll with it ]

"He tries and we try but it can get seriously frustrating." Lex said, rolling with what KO said."But, we really can't judge him for his memory issues, he tries to be a good ranger and that is all we can ask for." he pointy looked at Clancy telling the other he better roll with it.

Frost remained still, silently debating his next move. Attack? They stood little chance against the Champion and Xerneas. That meant taking one out of the equation - at least one - and they did all have quick balls....

One more chance for the vain one to fool the Champion, then there would be no choice other than to fight.

Frost fully expected to fight.
