Being a Greek Myth buff, the answer is yes, it's taken from the island of Lesbos 3nodding
I'm currently trying to do the water event, so I'll be posting little until it's over. smile

online dictionaries ~ teh ultimate sources of truth xd
from another one: lezzes, lezzies, lesbos 1. derog slang Short forms of lesbian.
Etymology: 1920s (although lesbo did not become current until 1940s): previously used by heterosexuals as derisive insults to gay women, though it seems that gay women are now using the words to describe themselves in positive terms.
so, shouldn't Rei-chan embrace teh term? ninja

I too will be entangled in the web of lies and strife that we know as the Public Education system.
Anyway, perchance the word has some specific derogatory meaning to Ayanami. Perhaps a bad associated memory or something of the like.

Rei Hino-chan okies Rei-chan ~ it ish a bad word sweatdrop X!! surprised cooooome baaaack! and bring Oni-chan! crying I just don't think we should embrace something that was used to destroy and insult. I just don't think it makes a lot of logical sense to me. I mean MAYBE if we changed it a little like "Lezzy" where you might say you're making fun of the old hate word...but as is.... X and Oni must....come...baaaaack! crying crying

Silly Reiyoko - of course it's a derogatory term!
Perhaps there is some movement to "reclaim" the term, as was done with the "N-word"? To make it your own, so to speak?

2NA Silly Reiyoko - of course it's a derogatory term! Perhaps there is some movement to "reclaim" the term, as was done with the "N-word"? To make it your own, so to speak? That's what I've seen...but personally I've never really understood/agreed with that whole movement much. I mean it's one thing if something is more neutral like "weird" or "abnormal"...but it's another thing entirely if a word is 100% bad...

I am sorry, Didn't know that it was used in an offensive way, maybe I should also stop calling my Nymphomaniac friend Nympho, Although she don't seem to mind....

Monom I am sorry, Didn't know that it was used in an offensive way, maybe I should also stop calling my Nymphomaniac friend Nympho, Although she don't seem to mind.... Well Nymphomaniac and Nympho both mean the same thing, it's just that Nympho is merely shorthand.

I don't really care if people call me derogatory names that much unless they cross a certain line. (MF) Of course, that's just me. One of my friend's still calls me Cracker from an inside joke 10 years ago.
