The KyroFreed
In melee I liked using
Ice Climbers and Young Link the most, followed by (in no order)
-Dk
-Dr.mario
-Mario
-Mewtwo
-Peach
Ice Climbers ruled in Melee. It seemed like for the majority of that game's lifespan, people just played the same characters, maybe one or two, with little switching, and just constantly and mindlessly beat the s**t out of one another. Towards the end I started using other characters, and man, I loved the Climbers. Do you agree, though, that they got a lot shittier in the transition to Brawl? I've talked to a few people and they thought that they actually got -better- and I just don't see how. They had the Melee-curse of having some attacks that were just ridiculously strong and good, which just seemed to kind of die in Brawl, because they don't really have
any go-to attacks.
Never liked Young/Toon Link really, but DK was the man in Melee. If I ever go back to Melee again (and someone slap me if I do), it'll probably be partially to just hear DK's awesome sound when he punches and headbutts. He was such a hilarious character in that game, and for so many years I just didn't notice.
And hell yeah on Mario and Doc. I used both of them profusely. Mewtwo, though? Never got the hang of. I'm glad he's not in Brawl, because even if they made him a lot better (I always found him pretty terrible) he shouldn't be able to lose to a Jigglypuff or Pikachu. Not easily.
Speaking of, the Pokemon Trainer should just be Red in the next game. He won't speak, and he'll just have a badass team. I LOVE RED ******** YOU IF IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE
Yes I feel they nerfed the climbers power a bit, that aerial smash doesn't pack that same can of rape it used to. I think they pumped up the up b move though. The final smash move isn't much to right home about, unless every one carries high percent damage already. I sorta played with everyone and got good with them, but my preference went to a select few that I'd cycle through before going random. Or when s**t gets real, and I gotta lay down the hate on someone I'd pick the ones I can give most agony with.
Part of the reason why my siblings and I tried out "Brawl Minus" was because we were getting bored of brawl after playing non-stop and unlocking everything twice etc;etc; Originally we downloaded "balance brawl" a mod were characters that lacked in something got tuned up, while spammer/retard strength characters got toned down. We even delved a bit into texture mods, That was ok, we got bored of the music in game and decided to embark on using mod tools to replace them within the iso we were playing it off of. As we had long ripped the data off the disk and transplanted it to a usb hardrive.
Unfortunately we couldn't go all the way, because even with the updated support we can only use a 2 gig. It turns out older games before nintendo fixed that problem with sd size limits won't be affected. Even so we swapped out as much music as we could for other songs we desired.
Then one of the siblings stumbled upon other brawl mods. "Brawl plus" I'll just keep the description at "tourney rules are serious business" they even re-implemented wave dashing. We scoffed and moved on. Once we found "Brawl minus" Where everyone was given a boost of some sort and developed spammer/retard strength, we fell in love and have been playing it for the past year. The tweaks in characters very from slight to very noticeable.
We even downloaded texture edits of stages. (for example The melee temple on brawl minus now has snow effects. We replaced New Pork City with the online waiting room.)
I really hope next game they don't rush it and bring back those characters they took out, aside with a whole slew of new characters. I don't think they were fooling anyone anymore with the new roster claiming they were different.
