Bleh I never get cool stuff in AC. My towns have always been so lame and I usually only ever manage to get one or two of the silver/gold tools. In AC3DS I might do more stuff like that.

Haha, I didn't know I had a Porygon called Porygoon in Red. That's badass. cool
I want to get Blue so bad. My Pokedex isn't too far from being completed.

The screen may actually be damaged.
My old gameboy pocket took a hit to the screen some time ago. It was, of course, because I let my younger sister have it, and she in turn gave it to toddlers. When games do start up, the screen is too fun of half darkened pixels to see anything.
Looks like a magnet was put to it.
That may be what happened.

It's more likely just the lack of a back light. I remember having to adjust the angle of my screen all the time just to see what was going on, and ironically, in the sun it was even worse.

It's almost comparable to the "sweet spot" with the 3DS, only much, much more specific and limited.
