It reminded me of a father speaking to his son or daughter while he sleeps.
I used to go in while my daughter slept and talked to her. Warn her about drugs and boys all the time.
It seems completely normal to me, though Maroon is clearly more than a little deranged.

I almost forgot to say something. Well, two things.
On EKA's post on whichever page (the one where she found out the reference behind the Hermes' Moon), I was prompted to try to find out about what might be referred to by Alruna's Rose. Alruna (Ölrún, Alraune) was a valkyrie, daughter of Kjárr (apparently a king of Valland - the Celtic/Roman south), and wife of Ægil (Agilaz) (a legendary archer who defended a keep against many attackers), according to the Völundarkviða.
This all came from Wikipedia.
