Nomega A comment brought up the fabulous point of WHY ISN'T MINECRAFT REWRITTEN IN C++. JAVA IS A s**t LANGUAGE. It's not like Notch doesn't have the financial resources. Nah dude, Javascript is great, everything on it runs so smoothly and it never has to update EVERY ******** DAY A MILLION TIMES Notch has the financial resources to make any ******** game he wants now, and he hasn't added s**t to Minecraft. This game was obviously started after Minecraft, someone saw and liked Minecraft, and got impatient of it not being changed or made any better. I wish I could refund my money and just get this instead. Notch is such a joke. Waynebrizzle Hopefully MC will get its butt kicked when this game comes out and Notch will decide to actually start putting effort into his game.

Nice name, by the way. I had a doodle I drew often that was a bean with a face, and a star on its "forehead" named "Starbean" which it reminds me of.

I want to see Minecraft
written in
Python.
Not because Python is better or anything, I just want to see what it can and can't do. Everyone around here keeps saying "oh my god Python is such an awesome language and can do anything and is better than all languages" but I honestly don't buy it. I want to see what it can do better than other languages and what other languages can do better than Python.
The CSC program here was entirely Java, but they're switching the lower classes to python and the higher classes to C++. I'm indifferent on the python switch but I'm very okay with the C++ switch. In the meanwhile I can just teach myself the rest of Java and C# and then move on to other languages.

what a language is capable of doesn't really determine how good it is, it is a major factor though. the fact that java can't do stuff like dynamic lighting just makes it not a good choice for a 3-d game that uses shadow and lighting.
so when notch said a torch in the offhand, he lied. he lied about it being any good anyway.

How does this make notch not a joke?
He still does some of the coding. Mostly he throws in more features on top of the broken ones. Jeb, the guy who does most of the work now, really didn't want to add dragons, I hear. Notch did. DRAGONS! And they're stupidly impossible, and the only reward is some god awful ... written thing. dog s**t.

It's not that the idea of dragons isn't cool, it's just that piling new features on broken features is an absolutely stupid way of developing a game, and it only works at all because they went viral and sold access to the beta version of their game. Noone should develop their game like that, let alone be praised for it. (For building new features on top of broken ones, I mean. Open betas are fine.)

Last time I played it didn't seem broken.
And since I know everyone thinks I'm a ********' gigantic minecraft fanboy since I got so upset during our last discussion about it, but I've actually been pretty bored of it for a while now. There really hasn't been anything added I found really interesting since wolves, and yeah, as a matter of fact I think they HAVE added a bunch of extra s**t that over-complicated it and made me not care anymore. I guess I liked the simplicity of it before (or I might just be a ********' hipster and not find it fun because so many other people do now). I don't hate it though, and I can understand why people enjoy it. I think certain people should just let people enjoy it instead of bitching about how broken and unfinished it is when they don't even play it enough to know that in the first place OH SNAP
