Jaycorn It's not unplayable but the fact that it doesn't always respond perfectly makes me think it should just have more traditional controls. Skulltulas should not be that hard. Makes me put off playing it forever. Also I hate dowsing for stuff. There's way too much of that, and I don't find it fun at all. The part I'm at right now is a part where I need to dowse for the entrance to a dungeon or something. Bleh. Buttons aren't any more reliable. We've just been playing with them since the beginning of gaming. There's a difference between "better" and "more used to." And besides that, Motionplus does things that buttons can never emulate. Sword fighting in Zelda was flat and bland up until Skyward Sword imo. Dowsing is more or less for when you're kind of lost. It's a subtle way of showing you exactly where something is..... without showing you exactly where it is. If you tell me the part I could give you a hint, though.

Wayne's new avatar is from the sequel to our RPG, where he has to go and search for me after my noble sacrifice at the end of Spam Can I
Spam Can I-2
You remember that post I made like a week ago. I'm talking about that.

[Kegan] Going back to Wind Waker wasn't that hard. It doesn't feel super similar either, though. Yahtzee(Zero Punctuation) is full of s**t. I mean, I don't need to draw any specific examples to convince you, I'm sure, but claiming that there's no gameplay innovation between Zeldas, and claiming that fan say that each Zelda is a beta for the next just makes me all that much more sure that he has no idea what he's talking about. I kinda doubt that guy even likes video games, sometimes. He once described a hypothetical situation in which he got a fatal back injury from playing Kid Icarus: Uprising. That's not even funny; the guy's just an idiot that uses hyperbole like a sixteen year old girl. If you ever call him out for it, though, he hides behind the "lol it's an act retard" excuse. But then he'll turn around and make a response article to people angry about some of the stupid s**t, and even though it's meant to address peoples' complaints, he's still the same insufferable p***k that he claims is an act. Is it really even an act? Or is he just a douchebag? That's the real question.

I think that legitimately makes it not an act, though.

For a while I wasn't sure how I felt about Skyward Sword's controls. They took a while to get used to. Eventually I started to really like them though.

Waynebrizzle [Kegan] Yeah, I'm just saying that he became the mask. wut To become the mask means that you become what you have been acting like.

Jaycorn I think I dislike games where you only have a certain amount of in-game days to complete all the tasks, like Majora's Mask or Pikmin, regardless of how awesome the actual doing of the tasks is. It just ruins it. I don't hate Persona, though, because you always have almost a year of in-game days to do your stuff, not just a month or 3 days that you need to reset. I also think I dislike games with motion controls more elaborate than No More Heroes' or Twilight Princess's. The two games I've tried that have used WiiMotion Plus both made me feel as though I have been bullshitted upon. Perhaps I will never finish Majora's Mask or Skyward Sword or Pikmin, because I just don't enjoy them. Can I still call myself a Zelda fan? Yes. People who insist that true fans must like all of the games/shows/etc. are idiots. I'd actually argue that Pikmin, like Persona, gives you more than enough time to do everything. There are thirty parts and thirty days, but you can grab multiple parts in a day pretty easily and not all of the parts are essential (including the one in the last area with the Emperor Bulblax). You'll probably spend some days growing more pikmin or unrolling bridges and whatnot, but if you aren't already ahead on parts you can probably manage to get ahead the next day. The time limit's there and you can't goof off too much, but you should be able to at least get the normal ending (run out of time but get all essential parts) if you're a competent player*. Although I'll completely agree that Pikmin 2 is the better game. As for MM, fair enough. I actually think the time limit improves the game, but I've had enough cases of misjudging my speed and having to reset midway through a dungeon or side-quest that I can understand why it would frustrate some people. I'd certainly recommend checking out a good LP of the game if you can't beat it yourself, though. * I know one person who might end up getting the bad ending without actively trying for it, and her first response to a bulborb waking up is to run off and leave any idle pikmin.

I dunno... shouldn't I be "used to" Skyward Sword's controls if I'm going towards the sixth dungeon? I can't just simply get used to having Link do something completely different than what I am, and then getting unnecessarily hurt or dying. I just think MotionPlus is crappy. Maybe people will actually see that when they come out with something more accurate?
Also with the dowsing it really seems like you have to do it, unless you have a walkthrough or you've already played the game and have memorized where everything is. Pain in the butt if you ask me.
I thought that TP and NMH had really satisfying combat. I didn't have to think about whether it was going to respond properly, it just would. And maybe older Zelda games didn't have the most interesting swordfighting, but that didn't mean that none of the enemies or bosses were interesting. Plus, I'd rather have controls work properly than be interesting.
Also time management? Pffft. That's like, work. Not always a bad thing, I guess, but meh. I don't like when video games feel like chores, and I certainly don't like having to restart what I was in the middle of doing.

Maybe I'll just get the bad ending in Pikmin and then try Pikmin 2. >> Maybe getting the good ending is easier than it seems right now. I'm only on like the third day.
I just keep restarting it over and over because I don't think I'm doing it right. D:
