I used to be kind of down on Kickstarter, but now I'm getting into it. If this Broken Sword game gets over a million dollars in backing, they're going to green-light BENEATH A STEEL SKY 2. Also a Homestuck Adventure Game oh my god. Say what you will, but that has potential.

I actually found a good amount of secret blocks/vines by total accident the first time I played through, and felt super lucky.
Still have about a million Star Coins to find, though.
Good thing I'll have this game with me ALL THE TIME from now on!

The Eleventh AK Okay. New Super Mario Bros. 2. Some of these Star Coin locations are ******** bullshit. oh yeah there's a hidden block you have to hit in this random-a** spot that makes a vine you can climb HOW THE ******** WAS I SUPPOSED TO FIND THAT ******** OFF Some of them really ARE bullshit, but I felt like the majority were relatively noticeable. It's usually in a spot where there's a strange absence of something, kind of like an unbalanced painting. But some of them are bullshit, like finding the secret path in the house with the huge boo. What the ********.

What do star coins do exactly? I think Nintendo was trying to add optional difficulty but forgot the difference between fake and real difficulty.

I think you forgot the difference between saying something intelligent and something absolutely retarded.

The Eleventh AK I think you forgot the difference between saying something intelligent and something absolutely retarded. Are you just going to be an a** for no reason or are you going to explain yourself? I just looked it up. They're collectible and more importantly optional; put in the game most likely to quell the "hardcore crowd" who complains the game was too easy. Something like having to beat a level in a certain amount of time is "real difficulty," meaning it requires actual skill. Something like making the player search for invisible blocks is basically a lottery. It's "fake difficulty" because it technically makes the game harder, but doesn't require any skill. If you don't like me that's fine, but it seems like whenever I say anything you feel the need to attack me on it.

There's only one or two that you have to find invisible blocks to get. The rest require you to think "how the ******** do I get in there" and that process is usually a lot of fun, like solving a puzzle.
So yeah, really not sure what you mean by "fake difficulty."

But... you were the one who was complaining about how annoying they were to find in the first place.
And when I asked "what do star coins do" it might have tipped you off that I've never actually played the game. I was going off of what you said about it.
But hey, whatever. I was only trying to add to the conversation.

I said some of them are annoying. As in, like, 3.
And frankly it boggles the mind how you can describe something as pointless, fake difficulty when you haven't even played the game.

The conversation was basically this:
"Some of these Star Coin locations are ******** bullshit."
"Really? Nintendo shouldn't use luck as difficulty, skill is more fair."
"You're retarded."
You could have said "Nah it's not really that big of a deal, it's only a handful that are like that." But you decided it would be funnier to just insult me.
If you're cool with conducting yourself like that, then god bless.

Meta_Fish A lot of Culties met last month, I believe, but ones that don't post here (much) anymore. Maybe I'm taking too much credit, but it's kind of heartwarming to know that you fostered a place where people met and befriended like people and then later went on to meet them in real life and have a good time. Yep. It was Max, LPS, LoA, Deca, Mizu, and ME. Nah man, it was all you.

Nomega What do star coins do exactly? I think Nintendo was trying to add optional difficulty but forgot the difference between fake and real difficulty. Star Coins are just a NSMB thing. In 2 you can unlock certain paths with them. Mushroom houses and s**t. And I think they give people who would otherwise blow through a level a reason to explore biggrin It kinda seems like more people are hating on the NSMB series after the Game Grumps said all that s**t... It might be coincidence.

I'm sure it's very Game Grumps inspired, but they make good points. I have the first NSMB and I never thought of it as a bad game or anything, but it's same-y comparing it to other 2D Mario games. Compare it to the feeling you got when you first played Galaxy. Whoa.

Whoa.I guess so. I dunno, I thought it was pretty clear that Nintendo knows NSMB makes money. No matter what you do with a series, people are going to b***h. WHAT ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO? D8 I didn't even know people hated 3D Land... You can't please anyone! Also I think it's unfair to even compare 2D and 3D Mario. I'm a little annoyed that they just keep bringing back the tanooki suit I guess. I really just can't make a judgement about Mario games because I'm reallyyyy biased! Unh, that moment when I booted up Galaxy sdghgasdhfkahsgdf @__@

What I do like about the more recent NSMB games though is the multiplayer. I feel like the Wii version is totally catered for that alone. But I wish I could play 2 in co-op mode... D:
