It's so hard to believe they actually once aired an anime based off of a Dreamcast fighting game.

Really? I don't think it's much weirder than the monster rancher anime coming overseas.
Although I think it got canceled on fox kids and moved to a weird weekday time slot where no children would actually see it. Of course fox programming can vary between places, atleast I'm pretty sure it did. Especially daytime stuff.
It kinda sucked. I'd occasionally catch later episodes on school holidays and when I was sick. They did the same thing with pokemon here, it was absolutely ridonkulous. (WB shut down around here just as kids WB started to get interesting, but fox picked up the show here.) 2:30pm on weekdays. Absolutely stupid. I guess they couldn't air it as part of fox kids because WB maybe had exclusive rights to it then? Syndication is weird.

I don't think Monster Rancher getting localized is weird because all Pokemon rip-offs do.
Also why is it so satisfying to murder people in video games when it would be the most painful thing ever to have to murder someone IRL

Because your brain gives the thumbs up when societal and psychological inhibitors are not present. Like "don't be a murderer," because killin' pixel people isn't gonna make you a murderer.
I mean it's not like killin' dudes has never been glorified or encouraged. I don't think deep down that our subconscious cares one way or the other. It's all context whether we as people care, and when we care varies from person to person.
