Part of me wishes that I could have lived through the 80s, and part is just like "holy s**t how on earth did people live without [insert convenient modern invention here] I WOULD DIE without it"

It's all or nothing. The data recognizes the system itself so it only works with an approved system that it is written to. When you transfer to the Wii U, it will only work for that system, as the transfer rewrites its codes and copies all information.

I was hoping the SD card could be a workaround, but it sounds like that isn't an option after all.

I probably won't do a transfer at all, then. My brother owned the system, so most of the data and all of the VC games on there are his. I'll lose some save data for a couple of Wii games, but none of them should take too long to make up if I started over.

Thanks for the info!

At least that's how I understand it. It couldn't hurt to copy the save data over, but the games of course, won't work and you would have to redownload.

Of course they're not hard in general, they're like RPGs. I haven't really played that many, I don't know, but the pattern seems to be that it'll go smoothly up until the final bosses, and then there's a big difficulty spike. What's hard is sometimes beating the final boss as you are once you've arrived at it without having to grind for several levels or go back and do something like perfect the diving minigames or seek out rare, powerful attacks which may take forever to get a hold of. Maybe you just want to fight the boss that you made it to and don't feel like going back to do anything for it! I sure did, and I appreciate that I was able to. And it was pretty dang hard to beat Young Xehanort at level 32 with nothing in my arsenal that I had to really go out of my way for. I barely made it.

I may have given up on KH:CoM when I was 13 and much worse at games, but at least back then it seemed unreasonable about this kind of thing. My friend and I both gave up around the final bosses because it seemed to want us to grind forever first. I was worried other KH games would be like that, and have kinda been avoiding them since.

FFVII was a giant pain in the a** to beat. As far as I understood, you had to have very specific moves and there would be no one way you could know of them without looking them up.
My understanding was that I needed to get Knights of the Round, but in order to reach it I would have to breed a gold chocobo, which required me to grind forever for money so I could afford the expensive-a** food you give them, then race them forever which literally put me to sleep, rinse and repeat until I FINALLY had the gold one that I could ride into the cave with the Knights of the Round materia. I will never forget how much of a pain that was. I'm sure any other method of preparation would have been equally as tedious.

RPGs need to just make it easy for you to get what you need. If I have to look it up, or if I have to grind forever, then there's a problem.

I'm going to guess it was marluxia that held you up, which means you didn't even beat the second half of the game. HUR DE HUR.

That game has a stupid learning curve and does a terrible job explaining it's math based combat system. To defeat marluxia you don't have to grind so much as you have to sit down and make a card deck specifically for him. Then never ******** up.

I felt like a super genius when I beat him.

And then Riku's storyline was a breeze because A) you never build your own deck. and B) I actually understood the mechanics by that point.

And fish, she didn't say they were not easy, I said they WERE easy, because I was framing my confusion, because what she did imply was that she'd played other KH games and quit.

Did any of you guys ever play Chrono Cross? Jeez that game had some sticking points. I got stuck on Garai's ghost for like years. Like it was so hard I had to grow up a bit to beat it.
