I just bumped out my fire emblem deal post. Oh well, they ran out of copies on the site anyway, but that doesn't mean they won't have more later. Like I said, they were sold out when I first looked last night, but this morning they had more copies.

Well, My TV arrived. My collection of DVDs includes. 2 Harry potters and a pirates of the Caribbean movie.

The pirates of the Caribbean movie was a gift, but I don't recall it being so stupid.

Also forced 120Hz is pretty bad (for media not natively in that frequency) , and the only other option is forced 24p, which is alright for movies, but I guess I'd like more options.

2 of, if not my favorite miyazaki films aren't out on blu ray, and I kinda want to ask for them for Christmas. I don't have a blue ray drive in my computer... yet, and I wonder how much difference the resolution really makes for an animation. I'm sure it's noticeable, but it never bothered me in the past.

Yeah, I feel like it doesn't really matter for miyazaki stuff since they're already incredibly gorgeous.
I can never really tell the difference for live-action movies either. Honestly I care more about story anyway, so unless it hurts to look at I don't really care. But hey, bluray really isn't much more expensive and I like supporting newer technology!
What are your two favorites, Keegz?
neither Spirited away nor Princess mononoke are available on blu-ray. I'm just afraid the pictures will look stretched out on a bigger screen, and little details can make things super purdy. I mean, I've only ever seen these movies in standard definition, and I liked them well enough then.

I guess I like them all. Howl's moving castle has some really neat digital animation effects. (2D drawings fitted to the movement of flattened 3D models. It's really neat.)

DVD vs. BD quality varies with the series and method of BD mastering, generally. I've got shows that I didn't notice much of a difference on between the DVDs and BDs, and I've got shows where it's immediately obvious that the BD is nicer looking. Ghibli BDs tend to look pretty good, though.

They've been getting through the Ghibli BD releases chronologically in Japan. Mononoke came out earlier this week, so if you're impatient and have money to burn you could import it (the Ghibli movies all have subs and dubs on them). Otherwise I'd expect Disney to get it licensed and released here relatively soon. Nothing's been announced for Sen to Chihiro yet, but that's next chronologically so it's only a matter of time.

I should really start picking up the Miyazaki movies since they're getting these re-releases. There are several of them that I just haven't seen, and it'd give me an excuse to revisit the ones I remember liking.

I would think that it would also matter when and how each movie was made into a DVD. I mean, all that those screenshots tell me is that kiki is good.

Even DVDs on the PS2 look better than the SD TV programming I can view, because I didn't think to replace my Set Top Box's Coaxial cable with HDMI. The PS2 is using RCA cables.

I know that Blu ray is really no indicator of quality. It just means how much file size they can cram on the disk. Doesn't mean they do a better job.

Okay, so my Younger brother is so dead set on a WiiU that it looks like it's gonna happen.

I'm gonna get him Sonic And The All-stars racing transformed on the WiiU, so he has something to play on the system when we get it, because he's a racing game junky, but for the price of this game, which is 22 dollars on amazon for the WiiU, I could get a 4-pack on the PC right now. and then have 7 dollars left over.

And I mean it's 22.50 and for a new console game that's not a bad price at all! It's the updated "bonus edition," which I assume means that it's pack in with all the bug fixes and DLC from the PC (Minus some PC exclusive characters) so I'm sure it works fine, but it feels so stupid to be getting this now, when I just ordered a super long HDMI so I could play PC games on my HDTV.

...But it's for the kid, not me, and I don't want him on my computer all the time. I guess I'm paying 17 extra for off TV. And I'm comparing steam sale prices to pretty standard prices.

Not sure how I can complain about the 17 dollars when I'm GETTING A WII U :I

And when you think about it, I throw away more than 17 dollars on many Christmas gifts. So, YEAH.
