Okay... good. Well not really. That is maybe my favorite Mega Man. After 2. Maybe.
Oh wow! What do you like about it so much? (I know basically nothing about Powered Up)
Well it plays like classic Mega Man, but it's all updated and I think it looks really good and super cute! everything's all chibi! And it doesn't have NES bullshit or whatever. It gets hard but it's not THAT bad, I don't think.
It's sort of a revival of the original Mega Man. You have the six robot masters and their stages, but they added two new ones, Oil Man and Time Man. They changed everyone's weaknesses to accommodate these two. It's also got different Wily stages, but the same bosses (but not EXACTLY the same - nothing really is)
The stages are not exactly the same as in the NES version. They're better. it seems more zoomed in, too, so you see less of the stage at once. Also there are DIFFICULTY OPTIONS. EASY, MEDIUM AND HARD. NOT JUST HARD.
There's a "classic mode" where the stages I think are more like they were in the original, but I don't know. I ain't do that mode.. Seems to defeat the purpose a little.
THERE'S VOICE ACTING AND IT'S TERRIBLE LOL. The robot masters all say such cheesy things before you fight them. I love it.
xd Also the music is nice.
Listen. Maybe not as exciting as the original's music, but it's nice to listen to calming music in a MM game for once. Sound effects are fine. Characters grunt when jumping or say "ouch" when they get hurt and stuff like that, which doesn't bother me.
Now, one of the coolest things is how much you can unlock. This is pretty much the selling point. When you beat the game as Mega Man, you unlock slide and charge shot Mega Man. When you beat ANY robot master, you unlock and can play as that robot master. Yeah, obviously Mega Man's better since he can use any power, and like Cut Man could only use the Rolling Cutter, but it's still a nice feature.
You can also download two additional characters for free! Proto Man is EXTREMELY OP and it's actually really satisfying to go through the once-challenging game with him and obliterate everything. Everything is weak to him and it's awesome, he doesn't even need powers. Like... when you're fighting a robot master and they get hit with Proto's shot, they just fall on their butts and when they get up you can shoot them again and they can't even get an attack in on you. There's also Roll (she has a billion different costumes), but she sucks because she's a gurl I guess. Mega Man is like the most sexist series ever but OH WELL. Her weapon is her broom, which she can only use at close range, and that isn't very useful in a Mega Man game. Still, the variety is definitely nice.
Also there's a custom stage builder, but I haven't used much of it. I think you have to unlock different pieces to use. Pretty sure you can share custom stages online, but there wouldn't be much of a community for that anymore.
Basically, a Powered Up 2 announcement would be the best thing that could ever happen. Sadly, Capcom.
