I think most of the portable Harvest Moon were bad. I remember Sunshine Island and DS being godawful. The only good portable HM game i seen was the remakes on the PSP and Rune Factory.

My favorite HM is actually portable. Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town on GBA! I think it's supposed to be a lot like Back to the Future on PS1.

But for the most part, my experiences with portable HM games hasn't been too great. The Game Boy one that's on the eshop was a total waste of money.

Guess i well gave Friends in Mineral Town a try if I get the GC ver of Wonderful Life.

I believe the first GB game was just a straight watered down port of the Snes one. And it doesn't help there so much repetitiveness you have to go through in the Snes one to get the best rating at the end.

Lol... Back to the Future.
Yeah, it's a remade version of Back to Nature.
For some reason I can't remember if I ever played the GBA ones. I mean, I had AWL.
That's unfortunate that you bought the eshop one. ;w;

Etrian Oddessey 2 and 4 are good place to pick up the game. The first one is ok but they fixed a lot of problems it had in 2.

IV and Untold are both on sale in the eshop through tomorrow, and they both have demos up. Go with one of them.

The games are all standalone, but if you really want to start at the beginning then Untold is a remake of EO with a new story mode. EO is the only one I've played so far and I thought it was fantastic aside from a few issues with mechanics (like there not being enough map icons) and everything I've heard about Untold makes it sound like it's fixed a lot of those issues. Otherwise IV is also supposed to be really good.

Oh, I know. The sale is kinda why I'm thinking about buying one.

I've played the demos, but I never found resources of time and money to work them into my life.

Plus I still have a PC game backlog, and half of Fire Emblem: Awakening's story to play through.

Then I'd say pick up whichever one you liked better as a demo. Otherwise I think IV is cheaper of the two due to the sale.

Pfft, you think backlogs stop anyone from buying new games?
Although if you really wanted to work on your backlog first, this isn't the first time these games have gone on sale so I'd expect them to get discounted again sometime in the future. You might need to wait for a couple new Atlus games to come out first, though.

I've started it. Not having villagers is a pain but it sounds like it's a lot easier to get them in the full game so I'll put up with it. Otherwise I'm really enjoying it so far.

I tried it, and I wasn't very impressed, actually. I got the impression that it's an underwhelming, nostalgia-exploiting, generic JRPG.

But that might just be me.
