Someone wanted a Genesect in exchange for a Deoxys, so I took them up on that offer.
I never thought I'd get a Deoxys. Super special event Pokemon are not necessary for the Pokedex but it's nice to have after wanting to just possess one for SO LONG.

16-bit Jazzy [Kegan] Did anyone here ever fight gary early on outside of viridian city? I have a distinct memory of being able to get to the fight with him there early. It was supposed to be the fight before you entered victory road, but you could fight him there before you had all the badges somehow, and I remember being able to repeat the glitch, but it might have been a weird corruption in my save file, because I can't find anything about it on the internet. I'm certain I never beat him, and I wonder what would have happened if I did. You can fight him during your first visit to Viridian City if you go that way, but it's totally optional. He's got only his Pidgey and starter during that fight, at like lv 9. You HAVE to fight him when it's really time to go to Victory Road. If you don't fight him there at the start, does he show up at the end when you go that way?

Maybe my game was goofed out and it loaded his late game team instead of his level 9 pidgey.
Or maybe a level 9 just seemed like OMG SO POWERFUL. doubt it, though. It was after pewter... at least

I'm pretty sure your chance to trigger the optional battle normally goes away after beating Brock, but I've never tested it out because who wants to go all the way back through Viridian Forest to do that?
