Eventually Will would come back into view of the truck carrying a rather well held together body. He had covered Adrian's upper body with his coat so Amelia would not have to see what he saw but he figured at some point she would try to sneak a peek anyways. He didn't care. He was too tired to care. Will set Adrian's body in the back of the truck and moved to the driver side door but did not enter. He stood there for a few moment just looking at the floor and then he got in and turned put the key in the ignition. not long after the engine roared to life Will pulled away from the building and began driving to the power plant without saying a word.

Amelia was relieved to see Will return, though she ended up looking away from him quickly. Even covered up as he was it was hard to see Adrian like that. A human shape under Will coat, his legs dangling lifelessly, though Will must have crossed Adrian's arms over his chest so that his arms could hang as well. She had seen him fall and logically knew he was dead but it was still a difficult sight. So she kept her eyes on the floor of the truck instead until Will entered. Even then it took a bit for her to speak to him. What could she say? “Will…I’m sorry. I didn’t mean…I just thought it might be easier for you if you didn’t have to go alone. And thank you for doing that….really…it couldn’t have been easy.”

"Stop." Will paused and the car slowed for a moment then sped up again. "Stop apologizing for everything you do. You've done nothing wrong. Irritating people is part of life now. No one is going to conform." Will spoke quietly as he drove. "From here forward it is all just work. Fix the power plant, help the people, establish laws, build a solid food source. Work, work, work."

She’d made him angry, that’s what she had done wrong. It was the first thought that popped into Amelia’s mind, but she reframed from saying it. As Will continued speaking she wasn’t so sure if he was actually angry with her or just with the world in general. “Why did you join the resistance Will? I mean, Sybil controlled everything. You had to know we would have to rebuild things after it was gone. So if you really feel that way why did you fight so hard and give up so much to destroy it?” There must have been reason. Hopefully reminding him of that reason would help, but then again it might only make things worse. She was truly dreadful at this sort of thing. “Why don’t you drop me off at the power plant and go relax for a bit? Have a few drinks with Mason or something. There isn’t a lot you can do until some of the services get back online anyway.” Well the last part wasn’t entirely true. They could start working on building the new government while her and the techies got things going. She didn’t see why it would hurt to wait a bit before getting start on that front though. Since Will had left her behind to deal with the woman she had no ide Mason was MIA and probably KIA.

"I knew we would have to rebuild. I just never looked forward to it. Stopping Sybil was always where I figured the end of the line would be. Stop the tyrant, breath, live. Yet stopping Sybil caused more problems than I thought it would. Evidently not more than Adrian expected though." Will paused and then continued. "Maybe we rushed it. Maybe we should have taken the power plant first then slowly worked our way through and cut off all of Sybil's control until it only had the Tower. Then again we didn't have the time. We promised Adrian he would live to see the end of Sybil and even in our rush we failed to keep that promise." Then there was another pause, this one came as a result of Will trying not to get angry or upset. He knew she didn't know or at least assumed she didn't. It didn't help though. "Mason is dead. Not like we'd find a bar around here though. Sybil wasn't fond of any good drinks."

“He…certainly liked to play it close to the chest.” Amelia answered uncertainly. It was a polite way of saying Adrian had a lot of secrets and lies. He’d lied to her countless times and kept any number of things from her. That was different though and she knew it. Will had been his friend. “Maybe he thought you knew?” She added somewhat unhelpfully. It seemed obvious to her, but then she reminder herself that she had worked rather closely with Sybil. For someone who didn’t maybe it wasn’t so obvious what would happen once the system was shut down. “I don’t think that would have worked. I think…Sybil would have won that kind of fight. Look at how many people we lost just trying to evacuate the Tower. I…should have…never mind. But you didn’t fail him Will. It’s like you said. He knew we had won.” She’d about to say she should have let him blow up the Tower right away instead of trying to evacuate it. That a lot more people ended up dying because of it and Adrian had missed seeing the Tower fall. She didn’t want to make the conversation about her though. “I’m sorry Will…I…didn’t know. Surely you had some good drinks at the Hanger though? And other people you would rather be with than me?”

"Not sure if that pun was intentional or not." Will mumbled after Amelia mentioned Adrian playing things close to the chest. It was only ironic because of his heart problems and the fact he had been shot in the chest. Will didn't move to argue about why he thought systematically taking down smaller sections of Sybil at a time would have been better. At least then Sybil wouldn't have known then the attacks were coming. "We didn't really drink in the Hangar. Everyone was a little on edge about the machines finding us and all."

“Pun? I don’t…Oh! Oh God, his heart. I didn’t even think. It’s such a common expression…it just sort of came out. I…I’m sorry Will.” Amelia could feel her cheeks turning red as she stumbled through her apology. How could she say something so thoughtless and stupid? She was happy for the change in subject. “You guys really didn’t? Sounds like the perfect reason to me. There was this club….Sybil had to have known about it. Maybe it pretended it didn’t so it could watch what the people were doing or maybe it figured people wouldn’t burn out so fast if they had a vent. That was a big problem in those higher up jobs, burning out. You had to be able to think enough to do what Sybil needed but completely disregard all the problems and conform to its world. Anyway the Club itself wasn’t really my thing, but I’d still go every once in a while. Be around people, watch them disobey Sybil even if it was only in the smallest of ways. See that that spark of independent thought was still there somewhere.”

"It's fine. We're gonna laugh about it eventually. Why not start now?" Will tried to bring things back into a light mood. Today was a day of victory, why treat it as anything else? "Oh don't get me wrong, we had clubs like that but we only drank water. Getting the good stuff was hard enough and we needed to stay in the best shape possible. We alleviated our stress in other ways."

“I suppose so…” Amelia answered uncertainly. It seemed a little soon to be making any kind of jokes around Adrian, though on the other hand Will seemed less upset about things which was encouraging. “So…do I want to know what you guys did to alleviate stress?” The way he had phrased it, leaving it vague instead of simply telling her what they did left her wondering if it was something she actually wanted to hear about. “Are you just going to hang around the power plant then?” They were nearly there so she thought she would ask. It would probably be incredibly boring, but he hadn’t seemed all that interested in her suggestions of hanging out with the other resistance members.

"Lots of rooms with doors that locked and a steady balance between the males and females in the Resistance." Will responded as if it was a casual thing to say. Then, after a few more moments he added "Adrian never caught us gambling. I'll probably walk around the plant a little. Not like you need security anymore but the rest of the city does. I may try and coordinate with some other survivors. "

“Or maybe he knew and didn’t say anything like Sybil?” Amelia suggested. It wasn’t out of the question at any rate though she didn’t really have an idea of how strict Adrian would have been with that sort of thing. In the short time she had known him she’d never really seen anyone disobey him. “And uh…what does gambling have to do with a steady balance between men and woman?” She attempted to ask the question nonchalantly, but truthfully what had been first implied before Will explained about the gambling bothered her more than she cared to admit. Possessiveness she didn’t deserve over the only person who had been kind to her since join the resistance. “You never know, the machines might go rouge without Sybil.” Especially since the last command seemed to be kill all humans.

"If you knew how good he was at gambling before everything became stressful, you'd know that he would not have sat idly by. Adrian once managed to get everything Mason had, money, weapons, shoes. Everything. He had to be cheating." Will said as he drove "If there were too many guy's, it would devolve into guy talk, everyone would team up to get any girls out of the game. Too many girls and the female version of that happens. With a balance we all focused on beating each other and no one became a target until they opened their mouths and said something stupid." Will paused and thought about the security thing. "No main computer to control them, they would shut down."

“That’s strangely easy to picture.” Amelia said with a small smile. Whole thing certainly sounded like something Adrian would do. She could imagine herself quickly becoming the target Will was talking about if she were to ever enter in such games yet she found herself strangely jealous. She was certainly an outcast to the resistance and when she had worked for Sybil she’d always been put on such a pedestal that she’d never really had an opportunity to casually interact with people.

Upon arriving at the power plant Amelia left Will to his own devices while she worked with the machine savvy members of the Resistance to get things back online. In the end it would take them four days to get the power back on. Four long days that usually ended up with someone forcing her to stop for the night and three even longer nights full of bad images and regrets. Of course she wasn’t the only one, or even the worst off in that department. It had been a bloody and violent battle, though Amelia felt deeply responsible for the two deaths she had witnessed. As for her arm, there wasn’t really anything they could do about it. It needed surgery and to do surgery they needed power at least and probably running water, so she mostly survived on pain killers. It made certain tasks difficult though and left her mostly telling others what to do in order to get around Sybil’s kill switch. Finally mid-afternoon on the fourth day she called Will. “I think we’re ready to turn it on. Either it’ll work or something will blow up.”

"Well if it blows up, at least we'll know we just have to build a new one. That's be easier than repairs right?" Will had spent surprising little of the last four days actually at the power plant. There was a lot of reconstruction in the city. The food had been dispersed to the people and the resistance was beginning to grow more encase they could not fix the rest of the problems within the months they had. Adrian's body had been brought to the Hangar only a day before the hangar was decommissioned. The resistance had agreed that they needed a more public presence so the people knew there was someone protecting them. Everything in the Hangar had been moved outside and they had converted a series of buildings at the northern most region of the city into the new Headquarters. The buildings were sturdy and surprisingly military, maybe from a time before Sybil. Either way the buildings worked surprisingly well as a public base. People had been coming in and out of the new base almost endlessly, asking questions and for aid. A few of Adrian's closest friends, including Will, had formed a council to discuss and decide what to do where Sybil normally would. The people were alright. The Tower's ruin had been cleared and it was beginning to be turned into a monument but they had yet to decide if it would be a monument for Adrian or for the entire resistance. It was one of the more debated issues. Will didn't think it should be a monument to Adrian. Adrian was buried where he had asked to be but they had yet to hold an actual funeral for him.
