"Whoop!" Aerona raced through the sand and threw herself down, arms up to set the ball as high as she could. While it didn't soar towards Lutrin, it DID go vertically quite a ways which would give the petite brownblood some extra time to spike it. Aerona kept prone so Lutrin could leap over her.

“My baaaaad!” Lutrin called when the volleyball went way off target. Aerona scrambled to get it nonetheless and took a mouthful of sand to get it airborne. Lutrin wasted no time. “Hup!” She leapt over Aerona and brought the heel of her hand in sharp contact with the ball. It smashed down into the sand on the other side.

Wiggling, Lutrin helped Aerona to her feet. “Let's go, let's go, let's go!” Her voice grew more fervored. “We're gonna MURDER 'em! HO HO HO!”

Buffel Looked back at Scorpa again. Her expression was not the fun-loving mask she wore before, but a stern expression, teeth gritted. He prepped the ball for another bump, putting his own stern face on. This was the Scorpa he remembered.

Between the mouthful of sand and the second successful spike, Aerona considered this a rousing net positive. She popped up with Lutrin's help, riding off of her pal's energy.

"Yeah! Get ready...!"

She caught a ferocious serve in her arms and sent it straight upwards, backing up immediately to let Lutrin take over.

"Buffel, if we lose-" Scorpa snarled, her competitive spirit getting the best of her.

"You're gonna pay me back in tears." The yellowblood growled and swatted the ball up in the air so he could spike it. It wasn't clear what Scorpa's threat was, but it was clear she wanted to win really ******** bad.

As she hurried towards Aerona and the descending ball, Lutrin failed to notice a small, nutbeast go streaking across the sand until the last second. She swerved to avoid running into it and only just made contact with the ball.

“Shelly!” Lutrin screamed. The nutbeast scampered away, chittering. Meanwhile the volleyball soared back behind her.

This was definitely the Scorpa that Buffel had remembered from last time, but this was also not last time. ”Don't need no threats, Scorpa, I got this!” He slapped the ball over the net with confident force, scoring another point. He weren't no half-pint anymore!

"That- agh!" Why did Lutrin keep track of that weird feral animal?! She scrambled to make up the distance.

Aerona hopped and planted all of her power in the spike, hoping to see it make a wave of sand (or at least a small splash - as long as it landed)! Damn Shelly! The opposing team easily batted the wayward ball away.

Lutrin picked herself up off the ground, spitting sand. “It's okay—blech!—we still—pffk!—got this,” she said. She made a face. Her tongue was still covered in sand.

Making eye contact with Aerona, Lutrin lowered her centre of gravity and faced redblood. She held her arms out in a stance vaguely reminiscent of martial arts. “HA!” she shouted in a deep voice from her core. Returning to her position, she buckled down and braced herself for the bump.

Instead of bumping it forwards though, she bumped it pretty much straight up. Lutrin hopped out of the way. “I BELIEVE!!”

"Hmmm..." Aerona hit the ball, unsure now of her positioning. There was no time to falter - it was the final round! - but, with the Shelly incident, anything could happen. She just had to hope that Lutrin would lock up the final point!

"Oh no!" Tevini yelped as she stumbled through the sand to try and catch the ball. Physical coordination wasn't her forte. Anything physical at all, really.

Dashing Aerona, Lutrin jumped up high and smacked the ball down for a spike. The ball shot down towards the sand. At the last second one of the opponent trolls dove under and bumped it back up into the air. “Noooooooo!!” Lutrin felt robbed. Robbed of friendship bonding.

Vengeance on her mind, she began to scramble over the net (despite there being a far more accessible way around underneath) towards the other team.
