it sounds like a good idea, but i've often found it difficult to write a dark story. maybe it's just my sunny disposition, but maybe not. other people have also expressed that dark is a difficult feeling to portray.

Actually, I don't find it hard to write a dark story. Or maybe my one-time experience on writing dark stories was actually really simple. But I wrote about a suicidal teen, teehee. It's called This Story.. if anybody wants to read it, I posted it in the Author's Corner ^_^
