Nicholas pulled himself onto the boat. His face was stoic but his heart was breaking. All the old people were dead, he had to kill them. He bowed his head sadly. He mourned the lost of those souls.

He sighed.
"I didn't say a word to anyone but they were dead already. They were dead even while you were leaving. Those two just desperately wanted to live...but i killed them. I denied them life..."

"W-who is rowing the boats? May I have a set of oars," Nicholas stuttered after the while of silence. It was heavy but they had to go on.

Scarlet got up and walked over to the group of women and children. She sat down next to them and talked to them. Mostly about how nice it was over in Rome....her main objective was to calm them down and to let them feel at ease.

T'was the 3rd day of their voyage and the sun was blaring hot. The children were quiet and the others were deadly pale and sweating. Nicholas had ensured that everyone had water every half an hour but everyone were still lifeless.
"Princess, at this rate we cannot make it to Rome fast. What do you propose we do?" He asked.

Scarlet looked at him, "What can we do?" She spoke quitely and said no more. She looked out into the sea and wondered if it would ever end...of course it was no. She sighed and looked at the children. She still had her cup of water and gave it to them.

"I think everyone has started to loose weight. We have not been eating properly. All we had been having were bread and cheese. We can dry the meats with this sun and eat them but I don't think that would help much. It is only 10 in the morning. Should I take the blankets out and make a tent with the oars?" Nicholas suggested.

"Pass me the oars and I'll stick them to the side of the boats," he said to Scarlet. He had jumped from boat to boat to have the makeshift tent pitched up and after an hour, all the boats were shaded save his own, the water boat.

Scarlet watched as the children smiled at the shade they were given. They all laid down and fell asleep. Scarlet gave a half smile and sighed.

"Oh, is that land I see?" Nicholas mused not too audibly. He definitely saw something at the farthest east he could see.
