Gryffindor, First year, Muggleborn

David looked at the boy who asked if muggles would accept magic. "Well with how many muggleborns in the school its already starting. Or do you think all muggle parents hate there magic children?"
He felt that was a bit of a bad example for himself his parents seemed afraid of him when they found out but with how many muggleborns and half bloods who seemed to like this magic stuff they must not have the same problems.
"There's also halfbloods, witches and wizards marry with muggles. I'm not saying it would always be easy but nothing worth doing is. Muggles and magicfolk can learn lots from each other."
Maybe if the world knew more about why he can use magic he would not feel like its a disease. Like he was a leper shipped off away from the normal people.

You say we're both little people and you like it that way, but in time I'm gonna put this body to shame
And grow old, wear a suit like my old man. Pack up all my things and get my a** out of town.
We've got it good, whether you like this town or not. I know it's small but with a big head, it's bound to get hot...

In the summer, but the summer is a bummer if you can't leave this pathetic excuse for a town.
That holds all your memories, a lifetime of crushes and your broken dreams.
To be anywhere but here, but baby anywhere is away from me.

                                          ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Chris slipped into the classroom, hoping to be unnoticed at least by the professor. He crept as low as possible around the back of the room, through the rows of desks, and finally into a chair. He looked up, taking in his surroundings. The boy happened to be sitting next to a girl, one whom he had not met before. "Well, you look absolutely thrilled to be here." he whispered to her. Today didn't seem like a day to pay attention to, so Chris proceeded to block out the random information spurts coming from his classmates. "I'm Christofer, but if you want, you can call me Chris. Everyone else does." Maybe he would find a friend in this girl, whoever she was. Or she would stare at him until he left her alone. Either way.

                                          ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

If you got it all figured out, then what is there to shout about?
This midwest town is gonna miss you.

Leonette was sitting there waiting for the class of the year (not really) to be over. It wasn't until a boy popped up next to her and spoke that she even noticed he'd been there. Being thrown off guard she jumped a little before calming down and speaking to him. "Where did you come from?" she questioned him in a whisper. Apparently his name was Chris he seemed nice enough to her. "It's nice to meet you Chris. I'm Leonette but you can just call me Leo for short." she told him. Her cousin told her to make friends so why not make a friend in Chris.

He was just being sneaky and trying not to get in trouble with the professor, that's all. At least she said something to him. That made him feel better about scaring her. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you, honest I didn't... Where did I come from? Well... I dunno. I'm just sorta here. That's about as far as I've gotten at this point." The boy shrugged. He was here because he wanted to do well at his new school, but history was sooooo boring. He would rather be elsewhere with his ukulele, to be honest. "Leonette. That's a name I've never heard before. I like it. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Leo. Say, I haven't seen you around much other than in class. What house are you in, anyways?" Let the friend making begin.

Leonette smiled. "You more of startled me but that's alright I just didn't see you there before." she replied smiling at his answer to where he came from. "Yeah it sure is a rare one. Though it's funny you should ask my house I'm in Gryffindor. Fitting isn't it being in the house of the lion and being named Leo." Leonette told him. It still amazed her that her name and house fit together so perfectly as if she was meant to be there since the day she was born. "What house are you in?" she asked curiously. Chris certainly wasn't in Gryffindor that much she knew.

Chris grinned at the girl as she smiled. Yay for smiling! Smiles made making friends so much simpler. It showed that you were actually up to making a friend, which was what he was trying to do, so... success for him! "Still, I'm sorry. I'll be sure to let you know when I'm sneaking up on you in the future, though that kinda defeats the purpose." The boy chuckled quietly, hoping the professor wouldn't shush them. And if he did, oh well. "Gryffindor? That sounds perfect for you. I'm a Hufflepuff. It's pretty nice over there. Most everyone's pretty chill. I like it. Honestly, I wasn't sure if I would go to Hufflepuff or Gryffindor when I got sorted, but here I am." He wondered, if he had been sorted into Gryffindor, would he and Leo have been friends earlier on in the year? It seemed like a good possibility that they would have met at some point. "So what's Gryffindor like? I don't think I've ever actually talked to one before."

Leonetted nodded she was trying her best not to giggle at the truth of it. She didn’t want the Professor to tell them to be quiet because then history would just go back to being boring. “Yes it would.” She agreed. “One of my cousins is a Hufflepuff.” She said wondering if he’d meet her maybe during the opening feast when they were taken to their common rooms considering she was a prefect. “They’re all really nice although most of them seem to have real anger management problems I’m afraid to say.” Leonette explained. “Although I can’t complain all the Gryffindors in our year don’t seem to be back folks though I’m only friends with two of them.”

Now where did I put that wand?

Grayson walked into the classroom, eyes examining the room as he steps up to the board to write something in large letters before placing the chalk down and standing before the class.

Professor Powell
History Of Hogwarts

"Hello class, and welcome back. Today, we're going to go over the history of Hogwarts."

"Hogwarts was founded in the ninth to tenth century by its founders, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. They came together to build the school due to increased suspicion of muggles and magic, and wanted to teach students without fear of prosecution. However, not all of them agreed on which students should be accepted into the school. Salazar Slytherin wanted to only admit purebloods, which was at odds with the other founders. He left the school, and never returned.

"Hogwarts was one of the finest institutes for magical learning by the thirteenth century, and together with Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, started the Triwizard Tournament. However, due to injuries and deaths resulting from the tournament, it was disbanded six centuries after it started. There have been many attempts to reinstate it, but none have been successful.

"More recently, the school has been the site for many different incidents in the last century. It was here that Voldemort learned his magic, and here that Harry Potter defeated him in the Battle for Hogwarts. It has also been the site for the most recent attempt for the Triwizard Tournament, and obviously remains a major school for magic today."

He looked about the class. "Now I know that some of you may have questions, so don't hesitate to ask. I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability."

"Broken glass,
shattered shards.
As my sweet relents,
my bitter comes forth.
Prepare for the end."

Claire took a seat near the back of the classroom, still not all that interested in history. She didn't care what lead to things being discovered, all she cared was how to use things and the practical applications of it. So she halfway zoned out, though outwardly she seemed to be paying attention, a pretty porcelain smile on her face.

At the mention of Voldemort and how Harry Potter defeated him, Claire started to pay attention. While she didn't like how Voldemort did things...He was smart enough to survive even after death.
As the teacher asked for any questions Claire thought for a bit, wondering if she should ask what she wanted to. The blonde then shrugged and raised her hand, "Professor. Why was Hogwarts the center for most of the things that went wrong in the magical community?" She then tilted her head, "Also why are incidents still happening, even with all the horrors that happened previously? You think more precautions would have been in place...but there was that whole coma incident I heard about that happened last year."

My feelings? I'm curious you know?
Precious thought of mine, "Well...he did ask..."
I'm a Slytherin.
Did you know that I'm a first year?
My strings are being pulled. "..." Out of character.

After a moment, he scowled a bit. What was it with the students in his year? If it wasn't one thing, it was another, all asking pointless, defiant questions like they were trying to insult the professors or trip them up. Echo didn't want to listen to the petty squabbles that those questions inevitably brought up between the troublemakers and students who were perhaps more like himself in thinking but more like his sister in action. He just wanted to learn! Was that so much to ask? It wouldn't be such a problem, except it always seemed that the questions were posed without the slightest hint of respect! The Ravenclaw wiped the scowl from his face, though, and simply waited for the answer. Hopefully he would at least be able to learn something worthwhile because of her interference.

Leonette took a seat next to Echo in history class. As much as she didn't enjoy history she was more than willing to sit through it and hope to learn something of interest. "Morning Echo." Leonette said before classes started. Luckily the topic peeked her interest and she was glued to the professor as he talked about the school and its history.

Claire asked her question and Leonette wasn't sure if that question could even be answered. From what she'd been reading in the newspaper it seemed that someone was taking over as the new dark wizard threat. However Leonette had a question of her own. "Unrelated to Claire's question I was just wondering whose idea was it for the sorting hat?" she asked curiously. That had always made her wonder and since it happened to be part of the history of Hogwarts it seemed relevant to say the least.

David Sinclair League
[Ravenclaw]

House: Ravenclaw
Wand: Supple and Smooth//11 3/4 inches//Hawthorne//Fairy Hair
Current Age: 11
Blood: The son of a squib and witch from pureblood families
Year at Hogwarts: First Year
Wearing: Ravenclaw Robes

I'm pretty sure this is the type of class my little sister would like more than me.

David had sat down in front and surprised himself when he thought of his sister, a squib like his father. She was the one with interest in history and especially languages. Then again after his mother was hurt he found himself actually thinking a little more about his immediate family. And it wasn't like he ever disliked his sister, he really did like her, they had just chosen to keep her existence quiet from the wizarding community.

He glanced up as the professor spoke, it really was quite a basic overview, but he took notes on what was said just as something to do and keep his mind from wondering. Claire's question actually surprised David as it was fairly well thought out. The first could be answered with a simple hand wave of... Hogwarts contains the future of the wizarding community in England, but the second while sounding rude was reasonable. David was actually curious about the professor's answer to Claire's question.

Then Leonette asked her question about the sorting hat. David frowned briefly as he thought on it and he was fairly sure the hat was Godric Gryffindor's, so wouldn't that mean it was his idea? He sighed... he liked classes that were more concrete and history in his opinion had too many open questions, it was hard to truly know something that happened hundreds of years ago.

Theo walked into the class, sitting towards the middle of the sections. He got his quill and parchment out and got ready to take notes. He listened intently, knowing some of it because he read the books before class. He took notes on his own reading as well and made sure everything was correct. He then listened to the questions, not looking much into them. They seemed as if they could easily be answered. He would write down whatever their answers from the teacher were.

Elsie listened to the professor's short lecture, diligently taking notes even though coming from a magical background she knew most of this by heart. She sat with Echo and Leo and decided that Claire was a lot like Morven, indeed. She felt bad for the professor, who had to put up with a lot, it seemed. Constantly being questioned and basically put on the spot by the more... abrasive students couldn't be fun. Even though it was his job to answer just plain aggressive questions, she supposed.

Feel your HEARTBEAT start to SKIP

‘Cause I SWEAR I will not let you DOWN
If you see me FALL, I will get UP again
I’ll make you a PROMISE, that this is not the END
Just like I SAID, get a HOLD of yourself
Well, HERE we are, so close to MIDNIGHT
And I can BARELY see your FACE
It’s HIDDEN in a SILHOUETTE

Alex's attention wavered as he struggled to keep his attention on the professor. His notes were the only thing keeping him conscious, as he found history pretty boring. Though it was still better than muggle history. At least he was learning, even if it was rather mundane. When Claire asked her question, the young ravenclaw's brow furrowed. He hadn't heard about the incident last year... comas? That was a scary thought. He couldn't help but speak, curious as to what Claire was referring. "Coma incident? What happened last year?" His question was directed more towards Claire than Professor Powell, but it was a question nonetheless.

Then he heard Leonette's question, and it barely affected him. While he did wonder about the sorting hat- did it have needs? Feelings? Did it talk in its sleep? Alex was currently more focused on the ominous-sounding notion that someone went comatose the previous year. The boy hoped it wasn't anyone he knew- how would he approach them about it? His stomach churned and he suddenly felt queasy. Was Hogwarts safe?
