Kaine(Rust) ParkerRust sighed in relief at Estelle's mother's answer. When the woman left the room, he looked at Estelle as she fell back onto the bed with a puff . Rust thought in silence for a moment. Something seriously wrong was going on, and her mother knew something, but she was still protecting her husband by keeping it a secret. Yet she wanted to protect her daughter as well, and asked him to make it so. Something very bog was happening, and it gave Rust chills. He blinked, realizing he had been staring at Estelle as he thought and he gave a smile, laying next to her on his stomach, "I'm not sure I know myself, but whatever the case, we are leaving tonight."

Kaine(Rust) ParkerRust wished he could sympathize, but he had been so long without his mother, he did not have anything to compare it to. He was still a boy when he last saw his mother, and he had been too young to really understand the complexity of adulthood. He tried to find something encouraging to say, but he had not a clue as to what. Finally, he sighed, "She is just worried about you. You're not her little girl anymore, and she knows it." He sucked in his bottom lip, at a loss for words again. Instead of trying to find what to say next, he dropped his head, his face meeting the blankets with a flumf.

Kaine(Rust) ParkerRust turned his head to look at Estelle, a soft smile on his face. When she lay next to him, he scooted closer and rested his head on her shoulder, finding it very comfortable. "Things do have a way of working themselves out, as long as we just keep up our best." He said this softly, but with confidence. He looked up at her briefly, reassuringly, then settled back on his new designated pillow and closed his eyes. there was nothing left to do now but wait for sundown and whatever lay ahead. It did not take long for Rust to fall asleep, pulling his arm up and wrapping it around Estelle's middle, as if she were a giant teddy bear. Perhaps now, he could get some real sleep.

Estelle Dominique LareauEstelle had fallen asleep for about an hour, but would wake up occasionally to make sure everything was safe and sound. She couldn't tell why exactly, but as the day wore on, it felt like the room was getting darker, and colder, and it was strange to her. Though she felt this uneasiness for the evening to come, she was pleased to see Rust was sleeping peacefully. When he woke up, she turned over and looked at him with a smile. "You slept for most of the day," she said, answering the question in his eyes. "By the way, you're really quite adorable when you sleep." Estelle couldn't help but to add, her eyes glittering in the dim light. Thomas' day had been nothing but paperwork; he'd almost forgotten about the debt he still owed at the end of the day. So he gave quite a start when Gen arrived promptly when she said she would, the shadows swarming his house like flies. He looked at the woman with his dark green eyes, a plain look on his face that said "let's get this over with." He watched as shadows flooded over his walls, and his precious antique furniture. He said nothing of it (he wasn't in any mood to complain), and rose to his feet like the tired old man he was. "This is the last for the boy, correct? My wife persuaded one of the maids to help us out; tell your spirits they can take all of the maid, if they so desire." Thomas was stretching the truth of course; his wife had persuaded the woman only after she was begging and pleading to be spared. At the end of it, however, the maid gave in, saying she would gladly give her life to help out their family. These people can be so loyal, Thomas had thought, shaking his head.

Estelle Dominique LareauThomas exhaled slowly as he headed for the door. He felt a little relieved that his debt-paying with the spirits would be over soon; dealing with blood was a tricky matter he should have never gotten into in the first place. Not to mention, his wife's incessant nagging about it 24/7... With a grunt that probably meant "let's go", Thomas lead her through the elevator and down the hall to where Estelle's room was. At first, he was hesitant. Should he knock? Should he ignore all sense of courtesy and walk right in? His mind feeling like mush, he did a combination of the two. Estelle barely had a moment to react to the knock before her father strode into the room, looking rather flustered. She quickly got to her feet, praying he wouldn't yell at her for sitting in the same bed as a boy. Though this was her fear, Thomas didn't react and merely eyed Rust with distaste. "You ready, mutt?"Anger shot through Estelle like an explosive. How dare he talk to him that way when he was willing to pay off his stupid debt! His father really was a coward. It took a lot of willpower for Estelle to keep her mouth shut. She clung to Rust's side, however, still not wanting him to go.

Estelle Dominique LareauEstelle watched as they left, shutting the door behind them. It still surprised her how her father could give her such a look and then not say a word. But then, she supposed, that's just how he was. Whimpering helplessly, she slid back onto the bed, trying to pace her breathing and relax. He'll be fine, he'll be fine, he'll be fine....Thomas watched as the shadows took over once again, but steered his eyes away when they swarmed the boy's body. He had no pity for the kid, but there was something so wrong about dealing with blood. Alas, what had to be done had to be done, right? Thomas had to admit, he was eager for his debt to be paid and for the deal to be over with.
