Jacob "Jac" Fayden McClain

Jac's face went a little pink when Delia saw how nervous he was. He didn't like to show it, especially when in front of he cared for. He tried to relax and focus on what he had to do. It was monotonous. All of these questions, all of the most mundane things. Either mundane or confusing. But he got through them with Delia's help.

With a sigh, he sat back, glad that was over. "So... I'm in? Just gotta do that placement test thingy and that's it right?" He asked. He hoped that was it. All of this online stuff was driving him crazy!

Delia's eyes settled for a few moments over the information, scanning it one more time before clicking and finalizing everything. Perhaps she was being too analytic with it all, but she wanted to do the best she could either way. After staring at the screen for a moment in confirmation, she turned back to him and nodded. "Yeah, the 'placement test thingy'," she teased him, a giggle escaping her lips that she was unable to hold in. Her arm nudged against his playfully before she reached over and shut her laptop. "I really think you'll like it here more than you expect. It's not all that bad once you get used to it." In the back of her mind, she kind of hated how she sounded so much like her mother: reassuring yet at the same time, highly obnoxious and cliche.

It's been so long, I feel like this time flow has gone stale. Shall we time skip? I have had a few small scenes in my head for these two for a while. What say you?

Okay, how long. A week perhaps? Time enough for him to get his first class sched? I wanna say he has to take a math class for sure, and he wanted astronomy because of that night in the observatory. And maybe a music class of a sort.

School took a lot more of his time than Jac would have ever expected. In the blink of an eye, a week had gone by, and between work and school, he was beginning to miss his bed. He saw Delia at school, and was happy when they got to share their lunches together, but it seemed time spent with her was so short lived. He wanted to see her more. He hadn't even started the classes yet, but the counseling meetings and financial aid meetings dragged on. It felt as if he had been attending for years by the end of the week.

He also had to deal with the fact that he had no more transportation. His bike was totaled, and he hadn't the funds to repair it. He had no choice but to sell it for scrap. It gave him a decent amount though, and he was able to open up a bank account. Life was certainly looking up for him, but when would he be able to enjoy it with Delia? There was no denying he missed her. It seemed the more he saw of her, the more he wanted.

As fate would have it, Jac finally had two days off of school and work to just relax and take a breather. He left his work, still in his uniform and started the walk to the motel, pulling out his phone and sent a text straight to Delia, Hey, what are you doing tomorrow?

The weekend took forever to come, but when it did, even Delia was relieved. Her Friday nights were usually spent hunched over her desk, furiously finishing an essay that would be due the next week. Somehow, she'd managed to get that out of the way so she had time to relax, sprawled out on her bed listening to one of the many new pop songs that Danielle just loved to pieces. Her roommate was in her own bed, her head dangling over the side of it so that her bleach-blonde waves tumbled to the floor. She gazed up at her friend with an exhausted sigh. "Is it just me or has this week been eternal?"

For a moment, Delia thought she sounded just like her sister, and it made her a little homesick. "It's not just you," she replied, before bringing her hand to her mouth and yawning widely. She peered up at the whitewash ceiling and let out another sigh, wondering how Jac was holding up. It was true the two barely had a moment alone together since the week had commenced, but all the same, she was grateful she got to see him now and then around the school. She imagined he was probably tearing his hair out though from all the stress, but maybe she was just worrying.

As if on cue, her phone buzzed in her pocket and she slid it out to peer at the screen. "Hey, Danielle, what are we doing tomorrow?"
"I don't know 'bout you, chica, but I'm sleeping in till noon, and then I'm gonna keep sleeping till I get hungry, or till my phone goes off." The blonde paused, seemingly having a sudden realization. "I'm even too pooped to party tonight!" she added with a slight whine.
Delia rolled her eyes but couldn't contain the smile on her face as she replied to Jac's text.
Absolutely nothing. Wanna make plans?

Jac was halfway home when he got his reply. Reading it, he smiled and tapped up a response, I still haven't been to the beach. He sent it and put his phone back in his jacket pocket. Just across the street from the motel was a corner gas station with a snack mart built in, and he decided he wanted to eat tonight. He popped in, hearing the little chime of the door bell and browsed the isles of chips and candy bars. His eyes fell on the usual object of consumption, instant ramen noodles. It was only a dollar, and even though he told himself he would eat something different next time, he always ended up grabbing the noodles and a tall can of lemon flavored tea.

His mundane routine happened so frequently during the past week that he had begun to remember the cashier, and the cashier remembered him. "Just gettin off work Jac?" Jac nodded and placed the items on the counter. "I finally got the weekend off to relax! No school, no work, just me, a friend, and the beach." The cashier rang up the purchase and nodded, "A friend huh? A lady friend?" "Might be." Jac smiled and paid the two seventy four his meal cost and grabbed the bag, nodding good-bye to Wally the cashier.

Delia yawned tiredly, mostly a bit bored with her evening and rather exhausted, not only from the week's events, but her roommate was still going on and on about how tired she was. She didn't bother interrupting her though; after all, what were friends for if not for complaining together? Another smile found its way to her lips at Jac's next text to her. It felt nice being able to talk to him in this way, even so impersonal was still somewhat like they had their own secret little life to plan, with all sorts of little adventures.
Pick a time. I got my swimsuit ready. she replied, adding a winky face to the end of it just for a little amusement. She'd never been more addicted to her phone than when she was waiting for a text from Jac.

The air was finally clear and Danielle had stopped talking long enough for Delia to get a word in. "I think Jac and I are going to go to the beach tomorrow, so is it okay if--"
"Whoa whoa whoa, wait a second."
Delia raised an eyebrow, turning her head to look over at her friend in confusion. "What?"
"Are you actually asking me permission for you to go out on a lovely autumnal beach date with your boyfriend?" Danielle was looking at her like she was completely out of her mind.
Delia opened her mouth to respond, then shut it when she realized that was in fact what she had just done. Instead of words, a laugh bubbled from her lips and she shook her head at how silly she'd been.
"You're a strange one, y'know that, De?"
Delia only continued smiling and shaking her head, feeling rather amused with herself at the whole thing. That familiar warm sensation hummed inside of her, the excitement bubbling for whatever was to come the next day. She thought of long kisses, sandy toes, and fresh saltwater running down her back; all weather permitting of course. It didn't matter to her what they did, though. She was finally going to get at least a moment alone with him; that's all that mattered.

Wally the cashier... he sounds like a good chum

Approaching the motel, his phone buzzed and Jac stopped at the foot of the stairs leading to his room. He read the message and smiled, thinking briefly about what time he wanted to get up tomorrow. He figured she'd want to sleep in about as much as he did, but he wanted to get there before all of the good spots were taken. How does 11 sound? he texted back, then scaled the stairs and unlocked his door, shouldering his way in and placing the plastic bag that contained dinner on the small counter. He let the door swing itself closed and flopped onto the bed, a deep sigh escaping into the mattress, muffled. The week was over, and he had the weekend to relax and do anything he wanted. His mind need not be bogged down by the worries and stress of work and school. He started classes on Monday. That was enough weekend anticipation he needed.

Delia's daydreams came to a short pause when her phone buzzed and she read the text from Jac. Her smile remained; if anything, it broadened, like the sunlight did when it rose up in the morning. Sounds perfect! she replied, not doubting that her roommate would still be asleep around that time. In her mind she began to plan out how her day would go, but only the beginning. If it was warm enough, she would wear her swimsuit under her clothes, and if it wasn't, she'd bring an extra hoodie just in case. Delia was one of those girls who liked to be as prepared as possible, because that's just what she was used to. If her preparations were skewed, however, she was usually able to fix things up to suit her situation. And anyway, it didn't matter what the weather would be like. As long as she was with Jac, she figured she'd be happy as a clam.

Jac was dozing off, his face buried in his blankets when his phone startled him back awake. He flopped over onto his back and pulled out hi phone, smiling at the text. Meet ya at the cafe at 10:30 then? he sent, then sat up and rubbed his face tiredly. Blinking the sleepiness from his eyes, he glared, unamused at the plastic bag labeled dinner. He got up with a slight groan and flipped on the coffee pot, filling it full of tap water and setting the instant ramen cup under it. In approximately three minutes, he would have sodium packed soup. In the meantime, he decided to change clothes and freshen up.

After a top minute shower, a change into boxers, and a shirtless cup of noodles coupled with some news, Jac flipped off the T.V. and fell back into pillows. He hadn't heard from Mog in a while, but last he had heard, the fool was off working as a janitor at a strip club. That meant he would be getting off at about four in the morning or so. Maybe he would see him in the morning, but Jac knew the man would most likely be asleep. With a shrug, Jac closed his eyes, the last thing he saw being the stuffed dog on the headboard. The same thing he saw every night before he fell asleep.

I wanna introduce a dog. Does Delia want a dog? I dunno why, I just need to play a dog right now Lol.

Delia sent back a quick Yup! with a rather large grin across her face. Danielle had made some snark comment, but she paid no mind, too busy tucking her phone away and fantasizing about what her day would be like tomorrow. It was probably stupid of her to care so much, but every little detail swam through her head like a wave of the ocean.

As she slipped into a pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt, she found herself completely exhausted from not only the long week, but her tired mind as well. Her imagination could only spring so far without exhausting itself. When she was done washing her face and brushing her hair, she slid into bed, pulling the covers over herself and curling up against the wall. She imagined the warmth of Jac's arms around her, which made it easier for her brain to click off and relax for once as she drifted into sleep.

Whatever dream Jac had that night was well forgotten when he woke up the next morning. He woke to his cellphone alarm and a snorted groan from the bed next to him. Mog was asleep in the most unattractive way he had ever seen anyone sleep. Sitting up, Jac shut his phone up and stretched. He made short work of getting dressed, throwing on a pair of cargo shorts and a plain black tee. He grabbed his keys and wallet, then opened the door to be met with a thick layer of mist. The fog was heavy this morning, meaning a cool if not cold day at the beach. He hoped it would burn off by noon.

Leaning back in and grabbing his hoodie, Jac skipped out, trotting down the stairs and making his way to the school cafe to meet Delia. He was getting fondly used to being happy, and he only hoped he could remain this content for the rest of his life, though he was not content with his current living situation. He was working on that though. He sent a quick text to Delia, in case she might have overslept, On my way.

Marina Elemento
It is a stray! I will come and go, but eventually, maybe it will become either a dorm mascot or perhaps Jac will find a more permanent place to live and it will live there. Boy or girl? Girl can have puppies later...
