Last night my fire alarms right outside and above my bedroom door were going off and making this horrifying, otherworldly noise that I have never heard before in all my life, and I flipped the hell out and freaked out to death from it. There was no smoke, and no fire, it was just going off. And no matter what we did, this thing just kept making the sound at random moments for no apparent reason. It could be silent for 10 minutes then make the noise again for 2 minutes nonstop. It could be silent for 40 minutes and do it again. And I was just so petrified by that noise because you couldn't predict it and it was so frightening that I got maybe 4.5 hours of sleep last night. My dad just took the entire alarm off the ceiling as a whole (we have at least 3+ more elsewhere in the house, anyway). But gods above I hope that never happens again...

Agape's Cut with the social items' hairstyles makes the most adorable side pony tails...
I'm so totally in love with my new items (thanks again anon!), it took me an age and a half to settle on an outfit, but I think I got decent results!
I also think this is the first time in over a year I've used a fur other than the arctic lynx...

It looks great Spazzy! I decided to enter this outfit in the avi arena for next week. There aren't many "Breath of the Wild" Princess Zelda cosplays lately in any of her three outfits. I want to do her royal one from one of the memories where her father talks to her, but finding the right items once more will be a major challenge! ^_^*

I figure you tried changing the battery?
It sounds like something toys with dying batteries do sometimes (such as Furbies, for an example; those things can get downright demonic with dying batteries...).
Glad you were able to just take it down, sucks you had to lose sleep over it, though.
In our apartment we have a super overly sensitive smoke alarm, it goes off for simple heat and steam (and in the summer, sometimes for absolutely no reason at all), and being located directly over our stove means we have serious issues with the stupid thing.
Wouldn't be so bad if I could just take the batteries out while we cook or whatever, but it's one of those blasted 'always on' types that's wired in to the electrical lines.
I have serious paranoia with the stupid thing, and it's so hard to get it to turn off once it starts up, I'm glad we live at the end of the building and our neighbor is apparently an understanding and/or tolerant guy, I'm always terrified it's gonna get us reported and, like, it's not my fault this thing goes off over nothing!

Thank you so much! I've found myself collecting a lot more cutesy, pink-ish and teal-ish items lately, the color scheme just looks ultra adorable on the little paws base, I feel like.
Ohhh, nice! I hope you get a lot of really good votes in the arena! (I've not used it in forever, I hope that's still how it works...)
I took a break from Breath of the Wild for a while, the robot things were driving me absolutely daffy, and didn't manage to find that memory before I switched to spending more time on FFXIV and replaying Persona Q (maybe I'll actually finish it this time. Or maybe I'll get a hundred hours in and quit again. Who knows.), or I might offer to help out and see what I could find.
Seems to always be a major challenge where Zelda outfits are involved, but I'm sure you're up to the task!

Yeah sadly, I have smoke alarms that are wired into the walls of the house as well, so it wasn't a battery issue. I'm not sure any of them have been replaced since the house has been built (it's over 50 years old now), but if they function then I guess it's ok??

And it's ok about having a sensitive fire alarm! biggrin I know that feel (mine are also sensitive and go off over nothing). You're right that it isn't your fault, so whenever you fear that you will be reported, just remember there are plenty of people to back up your claim (your neighbor and anyone else surrounding you), so you don't need to worry about being reported! And even if you for some wild and unexplainable reason do, the apartment manager would likely replace the alarms for you so it doesn't happen again! biggrin

Oh wow, these always-on alarms date back that far? Perhaps it was some sort of wiring issue... In which case, taking it down was likely the easiest solution.
I'd lived in trailers for most of my life before this apartment, so I'd always had the battery-powered ones and never seen these infernal always-on devices before.
At one point in the summer I considered asking if someone would look at our smoke alarm because I feared it was malfunctioning in the warmer temperatures, but I'm so absolutely terrified of being blamed for any problems with it, plus it only did it the one day in summer (thankfully), so we just... deal with the finnicky little bugger.
We hear the alarms further down the building go off sometimes when new people move in, so I guess it's just something that IS with these particular alarms so I don't really have TOO much to fear with it, it's just a nuisance I have to deal with.
At least it's better than the alarms from the dorms I lived in at uni that automatically sent out an alert to the fire department when they went off, there were really hefty charges associated with setting those off without an actual fire emergency, and you could set them off just by accidentally turning your toaster up too high, goodness were THOSE a nightmare and a half, I was terrified to even turn the friggin' oven on there.

Technology, invariably makes our lives so much easier, can be such a beast to deal with sometimes, eh?
Was it important stuff, photos you wanted to keep and the like, or were you lucky enough to just lose replaceable data?
If it was anything important, I suppose I can only hope it was backed up on a computer or in the cloud.
(Speaking of, I should probably transfer copies of some of my photos over to my PC, I've not done that in some time...)
Did your original issues even get fixed after all the apparent hassle?

Pretty much just phone contacts. They should have been backed up though.... Also my podcast subscriptions are gone.... well I needed to clean it out anyways.

Well, at least it wasn't anything super important and irreplaceable!
A lot of the time contacts are automatically backed up in the cloud, so you oughtn't have much trouble retrieving those.
Shame on the podcast subs, though! But at least you can resubscribe if you remember what they were.
A bit odd, though, since those are usually associated with an account and not with a device's physical memory... Well, the subscriptions themselves, that is, the actual audio would, indeed, be related to the actual device memory, and what a bother to redownload those for any who listen to more than a few regularly.

Well, they should automatically save to my SD card. I sadly don't really use the cloud other than for papers and stuff for school. Just annoys me that automatic backup isn't automatic....... Also, we finished planting trees from last earth day. Found a tire on the way out... stuff is getting really busy, gotta look into how to get to a symposium in Seattle and how to make up the final that would be on that day... And later do safety training and some how look into getting CPR cards renewed for the company, the lady that helped is last time moved. Now we need to find some one patient enough to wait for translation. By the way, If anyone is free on Friday, May 19 I should be going to the UW undergraduate research symposium.

I don't have automatic backups because I don't allow for them, I don't let my phone access the internet or mobile data without purposefully connecting it myself, and never even set up cloud backup, anyway. >>; Instead, I have a handwritten copy of all my most important contacts. I'm backwards sometimes in this age of technology.
I don't really use the cloud, either, but my mom stores all her pictures in the cloud, and my beau's mum used the cloud to transfer EVERYTHING from her old phone to the new one she just got, and oh my goodness, she had so much stuff, she must keep all her text message history, I swear.
Sounds like a lot of stuff to fit into your schedule, I wish you luck figuring it all out!

I went to Virginia for vacation and got really bad sunburn... The trip was amazing, though! biggrin It took 9 hours to get there.
My first day I went on a dinner cruise (and I have NEVER BEEN ON A CRUISE SO THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!!) But it felt awkward at first because, since I'm transgender I had to room with girls and I kid you not every single girl from the 2 schools that went on this cruise dressed up in pretty dresses with makeup and perfect hair, and there I and all the other guys were in jeans and graphic tee shirts and sandals, and legit all of us were so confused because we were told this was a casual thing. But nonetheless it was a fantastic night with delicious food, dancing, games, and everything went perfect!
When I woke up the next morning there was a wicked thunderstorm that went on for at least 4 hours. After it let up I performed with my marching band in Chrysler Hall:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
From there we went to Virginia Beach and I made a new friend who went on the trip and I had never met beforehand! biggrin Most awkward part of that: weed and confederate flag EVERYTHING!!!!! eek
My third day I performed in the Parade of Nations run by NATO, went to the fair and watched a ton of performances as well as a sort of air show. That night I watched the Virginia International Military Tattoo with my band which had military bands from all over the world perform!
My last day was spent at Six Flags America and I spent time with my new friend, and a long-time friend! I... got more sunburn from this... But we had a ton of fun there and went on the most insane rides we could find just because! biggrin
