Though I much prefer Shakespeare to ANimal Farm, anyday... -shudders-

I wish we would write more short stories and such in English, or at least read some good books! Animal Farm, was, like... Gahh.

I like Shakespeare when I can discuss it with someone else, it's mostly too heavy to try on my own.

Never read Animal Farm, but I liked 1984.

Shakespeare's main audience was not the elite that could afford to go to the plays, but the common men who watched it anyway. He tried to appeal to both audiences, but delved a little more towards that of the poorer folk. Mainly, without lavish sundries able to be purchased left and right there were a few things that were musts to attract the audience. Things the noblemen didn't have to desire for it was at their every whim.

Common men wanted what they couldn't always have: lust and vented anger. What else to entertain them then noble love with a vengeance. Fated lovers with warring families, incestuous fantasies arising from characters, and those in love trying to wash the blood off their hands, yet ending in their own demise.

Regardless, what kind of drunkard doesn't like a buffoonish male in a woman's outfit? That's slapstick comedy right thar! x3
