Kate frowned ever so slightly at Che's reply. In her opinion, Che still didn't seem to understand what he had done by bringing back yet another person from the dead. "This is not something to be making jokes over, Presidiomini." she said in response to the whole laying down versus sitting up comment. She said nothing more for a few moments while listening to to Che as he sat next to her. Yet she still did not sit up. At least not yet anyway.
"A mistake? Ha... This is more than just a mistake, Che. It is blatant disregard for everything in life, death, and the Eternity Realm." Kate said finally after a couple moments of silence passed. "What I find that hurts the most from this is the fact that I was not informed about this plan of yours. You do things without thinking of the consequences, Che..." At this point, the Eternity Owl finally sat up on the edge of of the bed. However, she still did not turn to look over at Che.
"Even if you had told me beforehand, this is still only a reminder to myself that I am powerless to bring myself to do anything other than fail as I have done throughout my life."

"I'm sorry Kate and you're right, this isn't a laughing matter. But don't fret, for there is a technicality to this." The Mastering Owl moved his hair to his back and stroked the hair on his chin while Kate explained to him the situation. Giving a sigh to the matter, he knew she was right but nonetheless, he didn't expect her to get at the point she was trying to bring to the light. Half closing his dark purple eyes, he leaned backward until the nape of his neck met with the small of the Kate's back. Reaching up and around, he rested his hands on the woman's sides and smiled, preparing his explanation.
"It wasn't a mistake, because it was planned silly. More to the point though, I should've let you know. I should've filled you in immediately." Che turned over onto his stomach and glanced upward to Kate's disappointed eyes. To cheer her up, he lifted her arm and snuggled like a certain three headed dog by her side. His arms were around her waist once again and his warm smile had returned. "If by consequences you mean yourself, then yes, I am guilty of not putting "consequences" first. There's good news though Kate. Technically, Dante never died! So...the rules technically weren't broken. No gates were harmed in the making of this plan dearest. I promise." And from his sleeve came a card with the number three on it in what seemed to be dark crayon. The card went over his mouth giving him a ":3" for the woman in his arms.

"It is a mistake because you chose to implement the plan..." Kate replied, shaking her head slowly. The mastering owl still did not seem to understand what exactly he had messed with. His mannerisms now as they spoke with each other was the clue that gave Kate a tip. She merely glanced over at Che as he attempted to cheer her up. It didn't really work. The eternity owl frowned slightly and snatched the card away from Che's face before getting to her feet. "This is not just about the Forbidden Door anymore, Che." Kate said flatly as she finally turned around to look at him. "It is also about how this makes me feel. Since the beginning of my life, I've done nothing but fail. With my family, with my country, and now all of this. Guarding the Door is not a chore or a matter of status. It is my life. Why can you and your family not understand that?" With that, Kate turned away from Che and went to stand outside on the balcony. There was one other major piece to why she was so upset over this, but Kate wasn't about to say anything about that now. Not with the confrontation with the Fallen Pheonix looming over Che's head right now.

"...now you know that's not true Kate, so don't say that." The card over his lips was now on the floor smirking back at him. The man's expression had changed now and represented the slight tinge of sadness that was within him. Calling the card back into his sleeve, he rolled from the bed onto his feet. From their, he stood up, tossing his necktie onto the chair near the door. "Only when you believe that you've failed have you failed. I wish there were some people that were smart and mature enough to understand that, but alas. I know you're smart and mature enough to grasp that concept Kate." The Italian slipped his hands into his pockets, his undone cufflinks hanging from his wrists, and approached the pink haired girl on the balcony.
"Ugh, the sun...I'm assuming you think you've failed at being a guardian because of this? Because of Dante and Roulin and me? If you think about it, although you went against your job, you've managed to help the world in ways untold" Che reasoned as he stared into Las Vegas's evening skyline with charred eyes. "You've helped me, your friends...everyone. I don't want to say that what you've done is right, but it's helped. I take responsibility for it though because each person brought back, including myself, has been by my planning. I'm...sorry for using you like that Kate. I really am."

Kate tried to ignore the things Che was saying to her, but it was difficult to do because he kept talking about it when she wanted the conversation to just be over already. She closed her eyes to keep herself from clenching her hands into fists or smacking some sense into Che. "of course I understand that concept. But when you've been through what I have, then you'd understand why I feel the way I do..." Kate paused then. At first she didn't exactly know what to say to everything else Che had said. But then, the words spilled from her before she could really think about them. "You, Roulin, and your brother are people that should no longer be here on Earth. This includes myself as well. So yes, in that sense I have been a failure as a Guardian. But you seem to think that my helping you right the world's wrongs will overshadow that? Humph. That might be true for you and me, but not for the Eternity Realm. Kate then turned to look back at Che, a serious yet sad look on her face. "It's more than just using me, Che. It's the Eternity Realm itself as well that you are using. It is a Realm that is connected to me in more ways than just the simple role I have by guarding its Door." An apology just may not cut it anymore now.

Che listened once more to Kate when she poured more information dealing with the Eternity Realm onto him. As she went on, the circumstances in which it worked seemed to become more and more..taxing in more than one way. From how it sounded, there was more to just opening and closing a gate and letting a few souls into and out of it. Kate's connection with the door seemed more dire. Inquisitively, Che looked down into the eyes of the pink haired guardian and his contemplative scowl flattened as he began to dawn upon a rather severe, but still hypothetical stipulation of the doors of the Eternity Realm. The stipulation, he prayed was just hypothetical...just a theory cooked up inside of his already thumping head. Taking Kate's hand in his and placing another against her cheek, the elder Owl spoke in a mild, yet concerned tone, "Kate, I think there's something you should tell me if you haven't already. If not soon, then now, at this moment."

"I won't sir," replied Moli to the Colonel before picking at what he'd left on his plate from earlier. Aeon was smarter than that and furthermore, she wasn't going to fight in the upcoming skirmish. He wasn't worried about her safety. Will's mansion may have been a less than favorable place to keep the girl, but the blonde young man was sure that it's residents would take good care of her. Watching Aeon's father being his transaction to pay, Moli turned Aeon nodding and laughing in agreement. "Heh, yeah, they're a bunch of...characters. For sure. Umm, you two should meet my father sometime. He used to lead the UNS, but now, he's...helping us get things straight. For the better sir."

All Kate could do at this point was watch as the idea finally seemed to dawn on Che. she felt him take hold of her hand, but never once took her gaze away from his. She didn't want to have tell Che what she was about to tell him, but it seemed that she would have to. Kate sighed lightly. "The look on your face now tells me that you must have already figured it out on your own. Do you really need, nor want, me to tell you that the longer the Door stays open, the less time I will have to live?" Kate said softly as she closed her eyes so she wouldn't have to see the reaction she anticipated would come from this simple question. From everything that was going on, she knew that this piece of information she had just spoken would throw a bombshell down onto everything that was on Che's mind now along with the pending attack on New Exire.

Che's initial reaction to Kate's revelation was his sight lowering to her feet and his shoes. Very slightly, his mouth hung agape and trapped in thought, he seemed to have frozen just where he stood. Kate by now could feel the cold of his hands creep forward replacing the optimistic warmth that once covered them. His only motion after a second of gazing at the floor was his lower lip curling between his teeth. The Italian fell deeper into though and sighed expressing just how severe he knew the situation was. "Well..." Che spoke in an almost silent, quivering tone. Briefly, he looked at Kate, then down again before both his hands returned to his sides. This wasn't something that he wanted to be true, but as always, his theory seemed to be true and sighing once more, he turned and walked to the bed, then laid in. Curling his lips in great disappointment, he closed his eyes and breathed out heavily once again. There was more on his plate now. More than he needed at the moment.

Stroke and breathe...stroke and breathe. This was the method that Cecilia used as she swam laps around the large pool. Because of the time of night, there was no one else near the indoor pool so the young sapphire Herald had this particular room all to herself. Still, even if someone had showed up, she doubted she would have stopped for them. After all, the pool was big enough for quite a few people to do what they wanted comfortably. The burning sensation in her legs, stomach, and arms had long sense began, and now her entire body was screaming in the agony of a long work-out. Cecilia loved every minute of it. She loved the feeling of the water lapping at her azure physique as she swam long and graceful, yet quick strokes. She loved the tightness in her muscles. Her muscles had already been tight from the training with Anderson she had done earlier, but instead of going to her room to rest, she had gone to her room, grabbed her bathing suit and jetted down the the indoor pool.
Yet...perhaps now was enough. She'd had a good work-out, toning up various parts of her body. But the water still had a hold on her. She didn't want to leave just yet. Cecilia turned her entire body around and allowed herself to float on her back, her entire brown halter bikini revealed. She allowed her arms, hands and fingers to lightly skim the cool water, her silver hair floating around her like a large white cloud. The large overhead lights were blinding forcing the Cosmic Herald to close her jade green eyes against them. She very lightly kicked her feet, barely moving through the chlorine filled water, but still moving just the same.
This was peaceful...a sanctuary, but like all sanctuaries...it was temporary. She knew she'd have to get back into the real world soon. Her foot lightly touched the edge of the pool and without opening her eyes, she pushed herself back trying to put off the fact that she would have to get out soon and then all the troubles of the real world would come barreling down on her once again. If only she could stay in this water forever, but such a thing would never be possible. That would mean that she was running away from problems that she had to face...problems that if she didn't face them to begin with, would continue to grow bigger and bigger.

((TFP---Raven))
Silence. Like a city that lay in wake after a long blistering storm the calm had fallen like a blanket of despair, each living soul seemed to fall silent out of respect or weariness. Once again the Exirian soldiers had taken up residence for the night in homes that had been abandoned of claimed by the Owls’ greedy hands. The never-ending silence was soon broken by the gentle music echoing out from an open window. The soft lyrics were not English but French. The person listening to the song was leaning against a set of delicate looking glass doors that overlooked a beautiful garden. Even under the moons dim glow Raven could tell that the garden was once cared for.
~T'en va pas Si tu l'aimes, t'en va pas~
The song was by a woman called Elsa Lunghini and was a huge hit in the 80’s. Naturally it was a song Raven knew well, the song was basically about a girl asking her father not to leave her and her mother. A song about a man leaving behind his family, perhaps he was dying…or he had found someone else. Either way, Raven had long ago come to the conclusion that this was not the kind of song she particularly liked. She could recall singing along to it when she was young, back then she was too naïve to understand the meaning of the words. Goodbyes to her child self were not taken seriously.
~Où tu vas quand tu t´en va d´ici J´arrive pas à vivre sans toi~
Over the last few days, without fail the Exirian fighters had battled and defeated all that came their way. Progress was continuing and the land which fell under Raven’s control was steadily rising. The French woman’s mind was constantly mulling over plans and counter strikes. Loose ends were not acceptable in this delicate stage. The countdown had started and Raven could sense the building tension, the gathering fog that would soon be moving and cleansing all in its path. Like the fog she needed to move. To plan, strike, and defend what was hers. Those in her way will be dealt with swiftly and painfully.
”Nuit, tu n´en finis pas Comme un voleur”
((Serena))
Almost a whole world away from Las Vegas, ah it was good to be home! Unlike the fighting, bitching, dying world in America, Japan was relatively normal and its usual calm efficient self. While it was night time in America, here it was the morning of a new day. Serena had once again, uncharacteristically, slept in late. She was still in her bed simply enjoying to soft blankets and the familiar washing detergent smell stained upon them. She rolled over and hugged a pillow to herself as she opened her eyes and smiled. It was easy to forget what she had seen back in New Exire, easy to forget unimportant people, but not easy to forget one person. In these quiet moments which were shared with no one else her mind would plague her with questions and images. The Vanishing Owl knew that it would take a good amount of time before she could pick up her life where she had left it hanging.
Outside the sound of birds playing in the trees could be heard prompting Serena to finally get up and ready to deal with a new day. She couldn’t help admitting to herself that it was rather boring being here even with the Saxton family staying over temporarily. Perhaps the boredom was because the Vanishing Owl was still settling back in or the lack of work while she was on her ‘break’. Still, even the boredom was not enough to keep her from smiling happily. She had a few reasons to be happy as well; one of the reasons came in the form of a certain blonde being…and another one wa----wait….did that tree just appear out of nowhere?!
CRASH, BANG, SMAAASH!!!
Ah, it was good to be home….
((NPC----Freya Saxton))
“Taller….” Brown locks of hair played in the wind as a young child knelt at the base of a small fledgling tree in deep concentration. “Taller….stronger…” Her dark green eyes were fixed to the thin base of the plant as she tried to mentally reach out to the living creature and will it to grow. Even for such a young child, Freya was smart. Startling smart. She was above average in all subjects taught at her private school back in France and was never shy when it came to correcting her teachers and fellow students. Some adults called this arrogance and Freya simply called them stupid. Of course, she has been reprimanded by her parents on some occasions for being far too impolite. Ah her parents. A mother who was strict yet had a soft fragile heart and a father who upped and left whenever he felt like it. One thing was for sure, Freya was not going to let herself become like either of them. She was far too smart for that. It was sad that a child so young had already reached this conclusion about her life. And then the tree began to grow “Taller! Bigger!” Freya smiled brightly as she stood back and held her hand out. She was great when manipulating smaller plants, roses cactus’s, pansy’s, yes those small plants were too easy and so she had woken up early this morning and decided that today would be the day she made a tree grow! For the last three hours she had been sat on the cold grass next to the tree sapling without any results. Until now. It was growing with each bated breath she took and the rate at which it grew only increased with each passing minute. And then she lost control. The tree’s branches at the tallest point loomed above the house, one of the branches closest to the ground sprung out wildly and smashed through the kitchen window…Destroying a certain females precious dish set in the process. “Opps…” Freya snapped her fingers and the tree shrank back down to its original size before running back to her room. Deny deny deny…that was her plans now.

Glimmers, softy glimmers of thin wiry light could occasionally be seen from within one of the training grounds. The concrete one to be precise. Lucien stood surrounded by halos of razor wire which floated around his body. his face was blank, almost bored. The scene around him changed, a work of Phantom who had agreed to allow Lucien free run of this training ground. Buildings shot up from the ground, filling the streets, in actuality it looked very similar to the city ruins field Will had, but over the past few days Lucien had learned every twist, every turn, he knew every detail of the scenery thanks to his photographic memory. Staring forward a soft wind blew discarded newspaper down the street, everything down to the last detail was perfect, maintaining such a thorough 3-D landscape took most of Phantom's concentration, he could not fight while manipulating such a vast area. The ground started to rumble, it started of slow, then increased exponentially. Lucien looked down one of the streets he could see the source of the commotion. Soldiers, soldiers from every time zone, medieval, Greek, Roman, South American, Spanish, Indian, Chinese. "An army of the world. How fitting." He started to walk forward as the soldiers flooded the streets in mob mentality.
As they got within range Lucien didn't appear to move, but his wires did. The wires whisked through the air slashing through the running soldiers. He spun his hands like a puppeteer as ran towards the oncoming frenzy. The amount of wires he was controlling wasn't countable, after a while it just looked like an endless stream of wires. Lucien shot the wires each out, each one smashed it's tip into the body of one soldier, once embedded Lucien had the wire lace it's way throughout the body keeping it's hold on it steady. He then lifted up his hand, half of his total wires now had human wrecking balls at each of their end. He stood still as the wires with their captive victims on each end smashed into the soldiers that still rushed forward, smashing mercilessly into them their bodies littered the ground, piling up in a grotesque wall of death. As their numbers dwindled Lucien allowed the wires with the bodies attached to shed their human wrecking ball puppets. Circling around him once again it didn't take much effort to finish off the few remaining soldiers that stood in his way. A flick of the wrist, and a flash of the wires and it was over.
Lucien stood surrounded by the death he had sewn, true these things weren't alive, they weren't even real they were constructs of an Owls power. The bodies slowly faded as Phantom changed the enemy up a little. Soldiers aligned themselves on the rooftops of the buildings, signature red laser dots appeared over Lucien's body, he didn't have to look to know what they were. "United States Marine Snipers." He whispered as he could hear the roaring of tires against the concrete and asphalt. "ROTEM K2, Black Panther." He surmised, it was a Korean tank, with enough firepower to take down this city. He then heard the sounds of running, shifting footsteps, Lucien looked down the alleys as he saw soldiers wearing black bulletproof vests, all wearing long black trench coats and gas mask like helmets. They ran at speeds beyond what could be expected for a normal human, and leapt from the smaller buildings with ease. "Japanese Soldiers?" He guessed by the overall size and shape of the soldiers. He twisted his head slightly cracking his neck, Phantom had pulled out the stops on this training session.

A blonde girl looks in the mirror, her eyes bright but seemed empty to those who looked into them. She puts her hair up, the ringlets falling down her back and swinging as if they were pendulums. Putting on her blue dress that accented her eyes, she looked in a mirror, a smile crossing her face. "She would be proud." The girl picked up a wallet with the name Acelyn on the side, getting some money from it and then putting it in her bag. "Alright then. I think I have everything... Hopefully."
Acelyn walked over to her shoes, strapping them on, making her gain two inches. She picked up the room key and walked to the door, opening it and seeing it was clear. As she closed the door, she immediately headed for the elevator to go down to the casino floor. Acelyn pressed the button for her ride down, waiting patiently while looking around. The ding notifying her that her ride was here went off, her attention diverted to the doors as they slid open, allowing her to step inside and press the 1st floor button. The doors slid close as she checked her make-up, sighing a little at the hassle for nothing. Ding! "Finally." The porcelain skinned girl walks out of the elevator and walks into the casino, noises and people everywhere started to flood her senses. "Perfect."

Roulin displaced a few tresses of dark hair behind his ear as the shuffler of the deck got the slips of paper ready for another game. Bored and frustrated not by the cards, the atmosphere or the people asking for his autograph, but by his lack of progress, the Owl of Grey sat still on his rotating leather stool with his chin perched upon his palm. In thought, he stared at the two cards that were being dealt out to the other four participants. Two men, two women. Only one of them was an Owl and the Italian could tell. They'd been trying to cheat so much so often, their aura now began to seep from them and like a bad stench, it filled his nostrils and brought a stinging pain with it. It almost brought a tear to his lavender eyes as time went on, but rather than cry though, he simply snorted and swirled the light brown liquid in his shot glass causing the ice to chime pleadingly.
The two cards were dealt out to him. He was the last as the empty seat next to him had yet to be filled. Looking at the other four participants, the pale lips of the Italian parted and curved. It dawned upon him that the dealer may have been an Owl as well and therefore may have been making things difficult for them all. To Roulin, it didn't matter because his chips weren't going anywhere. This was a casino and there were more places to win. Leaving his suspicions to the wind, he slid forth two black chips which totaled a grand. Looking down at his two cards, he saw an Ace and a King...
