( I said it was a sword? *checks* damn.... I didn't even realize I had specified what it was....well, a guy with a knife generally is faster attacking than the guy with the sword. And I'm trying to be as nice as possible with Hughy, btw)
He accepted the horn back and was about to tuck it away when he thought of something. He paced back a few steps, then gazed at the horn he held in his padded forehands, and concentrated. His talons began to glow aquamarine, and contnued to brighten, until his hands beamed with light as he used his magic to examine the horn.
Gryphons used magic the way most humans would- they had a reserve in their body that they could draw on at will, one that replenished slowly over time. Some could, on occassion, tap into other sources, but most relied on their own strength to do magic. He'd never heard of any other ways, except for the tapping of Leylines, and tapping into a Leyline, if you did it wrong, would literally fry you.
He felt the magic of the horn now- it pulsed, and flickered; it felt like it was alive in his hands. He cautiosly reached for it with his magic-
and arched in agony as something went wrong. He'd intended to only try to siphon off a part of the magic present in the horn- now the whole amount of of power surged into him. He opened his beak to scream as fire burned along his neves, and his blood felt like it was molten metal in his veins. He couldn't even make a squeck- his muslces had locked up completly. He convulsed again, his wings jerking, and fell onto his side, and twitched as the surge of energy ceased. He twitched some more as he realized that somehow the magic was still active- it flowed over his feathers and fur, and he cried out as it continued. His eyes rolled back in his head as the agony of it reached a peak, and his body did what every sentient creature did when subjected to enough pain- he passed out, and limply fell to the ground.

{It's kinda funny, if you think about it. XD Miles, a fox anthro, infatuated with an arctic wolf feral. :"P}
Larka backed away and shook her head vigorously. "Oooooh no, big boy. The Gryphon over there," she nodded her head in Bakher's direction, "saved you. You should call him the angel. He even has wings," she joked. She was very uncomfortable with the look the Foxman was giving her.
Even with her fear of the painful Magick, the she-Wolf moved over towards Kaishin and the passed out Gryphon, with her head down and her tail tucked. "This is the Alpha of our Pack. I'm second in command as there is no official Alpha female yet." She looked to her Alpha for a boost of confidence or for him to at least take over things for a little bit.
With Bakher out of commission for a little while, she would not be able to train Asiril properly, so it wasn't like she could just run off and face the Furies now. Although, she thought that was a much better alternative to this. "We have some questions to ask you, Fox," she said harshly, trying to prove just how un-angelic she was.
