Could Be Worse [Awesome x Mayah]

[Mayah Playah]

"What kind of game?" she asked, her voice full of suspicion.  

[Its Smiley]

"First I'll need you to pick a card." it cackled and waved a sleeved hand over the cards on the table. They looked somewhat like the type of cards fortune tellers would use.

 

[Mayah Playah]

"Wait! If I lose, what do I have to give you?"  

[Its Smiley]

"A million dollars."

 

[Mayah Playah]

"Anything else?"  

[Its Smiley]

"Nope, that's all. Now pick a card." the figure insisted.

 

[Mayah Playah]

She grabbed one near the middle. "Now what?"  

[Its Smiley]

Cloak quickly swiped the card from the girl's hand and held it up to its face. After a few tilts of the head it tilted its head back and cackled. "Oh wow! Of all cards!" it laughed before focusing its hidden face on Michaela. "I bet you're wondering what it iiiiiis~" it said in a sing-song voice. "Now for the fun part!"
The figure, keeping the card hidden from Michaela's eyes through its sleeve, waved its free hand over the table, where the cards seemed to be replaced with three small, insignificant white plastic cups standing face-down. Cloak held up one hand, the sleeve falling to show the card, its back still to Michaela. It crumpled up the card then set it down inside the middle cup. "One more thing..." Cloak murmured and moved its arms to where one sleeve draped over the three cups and the other hand moved quickly, bulging through the sleeve occasionally. After a few scraping sounds and mumbles, Cloak removed its arms from the table and folded them behind it, the cups looking as if never touched. "Hee hee hee~! I wonder if Chance and Fate will smile upon you..." the figure cackled.

Michaela stared at the cups, then made up her resolve and pointed to the third one. "That one...I choose that one."  

[Its Smiley]

You could practically feel the smile coming from behind the hood as the cloaked figure put its sleeved hand over the cup on its far right. It placed its palm on top of the cup, curled its pale fingers around the body of it, and lifted it....

The small crumpled ball of a card greeted them.

"Winner! Winner! Winner!" cackled the figure as it waved around its fans again in celebration. "Oh my, my, my! Nobody's ever won on their first try! Fate and Chance certainly take a shine to you!!"

She smiled gratefully. "What is the significance of the card?" she wondered aloud.  

[Its Smiley]

The cloaked figure shook its sleeve to cover the little ball, and when it shook its sleeve back down the card stood as if it was never even scratched. On that card was the roman numeral for four and a middle-aged regal man on it. "It's The Emperor. Very interesting, if I do say so myself." the figure said through a smile. "It means that you happen to be around an older man you find frustrating... and you're also in love with him."

 

[Mayah Playah]

She turned red. "How do you know that?" she demanded. "I'm here for information about the boy you spoke of. I won, now tell me what you know of him."  

[Its Smiley]

A smile glowed through the hood. "The cards never lie." the figure giggled before setting the card on the table. "But yes, a deal's a deal. Ask me anything and I'll tell you."
