You know you read too much when the librarian is your best friend.
You know you read too much when the librarian asks you for your opinion on a book, and then accepts even if they hadn't read it.
You know you read too much when you dream about the book you were reading before you fell asleep.
You know you read too much when you math teacher accepts the fact that you're going to be reading in class instead of paying attention.

You know you write too much when you run out of paper and start writing on your pants, the wall, or any other object close to you that isn't already written on.

(guilty for all of them)

You know you read to much when:

You obsess over the names of characters other people have never heard of.

You actually consider buying stock in a book store.

You quote fictional characters.

You know you write to much when:

You proof-read your text messages (sent and received.)

You get inexplicably good grades in English (maybe.)

Your characters begin to talk to you when your mind wanders.

My god, they're all so damm true! Especially the proof-reading xD
I always do that! It actually annoys me now. Me doing it I mean.

And as for the characters talking to you when your head wanders, YES. xd Happens a lot of the time. I answered the voice back once, and boy did i get slagged.

You know you read too much:
When every surface in your room has a book crammed into it.
When the local librarian knows your name and recommends books you will like.
When everytime you listen to a song, you relate it to a book you've read (or written)

You know you write to much when:
You have more than one thing to write here.
You actually DO write here.
Your computer is running slow from data overload.
Your constantly in a daydream.
You get into trouble for something, but make up a random excuse that's different each time.
You have different personalities because you feel like you are one of your characters.
When you wake up early before school to write, and go to sleep late so you have time to write.
When you've pulled at least one all-nighter.

You know you read too much when...

You own so many books your friends start calling you their own personal library.

You think about what it would be like to live with the characters from that one book... all of the time...

You know you write too much when...

You start to dream about the characters from the story/book you're writing.

People start to wonder why there is so much ink all over your hands.

I won't add too much. (:

Go ahead and add some of your own!

You know you read to much when your mother has to take your book from you at night and hide itXD
You know you write to much when you mention a story and your best friend sit down claps her hands and says "YAY! Story time."And waits for you to continue. Guilty as charged.

You know you read too much when...
Your friends tell you, "You'll die if there's ever a major natural disaster and you're reading."
You talk about characters as if they're your best friends.
You can't find a book that you haven't read to do a book report on.
You have the library on speed dial to renew overdue books on the go.

You know you write too much when...
You talk to your characters in your head...and they talk back.
You don't let people borrow your notebook to copy notes for fear that they'll read all the half-stories written in the margins.
You miss out on half of a conversation because you were busy writing a mental story based on a single sentence they said.

These, among many, many others in this thread, happen to me on a daily basis and/or completely apply to my average life. And yes, the library is on my speed dial. Number 5, right in the middle. Nice and handy.

You write too much when:

Colleges think you're applying for an English major when you are really after a different degree.

Your primary topic of talk when meeting new people is about whatever you are currently writing, regardless of what the conversation might have been about.

Shakespeare is envious of how much you have written.

Your parents do not know what the words you have used mean, consistently, and compare your style to that of authors from 200 years ago.

Your parents have given up trying to help edit your work.

You read too much when:

The "eBooks" folder on your computer is where your carat seems to go automatically, no matter what folder you were actually after.

You have more books that you are currently reading than bookmarks you own, so you have to substitute pieces of paper as bookmarks.

The pile of books next to your bed is the tallest thing in your room other than your (full) bookshelves.

You ask for more shelving for your birthday.

The employees at the local used book store know you on sight.

Your English course asks you to read obscure books, but you have already read them for pleasure.

Trying to answer the question "What is your favorite book?" induces an apoplectic fit.

Samuel Johnson is envious of how much you've read.

You know you read too much when you are able to read the book to yourself from memory.
You know you read too much when you parents take your books from you and won't give them back until you do your chores. And you do them...as fast as possible.
You know you read too much when the idea of packing even one book away makes you want to cry.
You know you read too much when you run out of shelf space and start creating new spots to put books out of nowhere.

You know you write too much when your friends start sending you their papers to edit.
You know you write too much when it's break and all you can think about is writing a new piece.

-Guilty of them all-

You know you read too much when...
Your parents take your books away as punishment
You freak out when you read a book with a dissapointing ending
You spend the entirety of your lunch period trying to get your friends to read a certain book

You know you write too much when...
Every new commercial for every new movie seems like its taking ideas from your stories, because you've written about everything.
You get carpal tunnel, and you keep writing.
You get bruises on your fingers, from holding the pencil/pen so tightly because you're excited about the part of the story you're writing.

You know you read too much when...
- You spend your whole birthday in a bookstore and end up buying seven whole books.

- You feel like you`re always missing/forgetting something if you`re not holding a book.

You know you write too much when...

...you create an entire world in your head just so your characters can have a place to stay.

You know you read too much when...

...said world becomes interlaced with characters from other books.
