By the Light of the Moon
The distant bangs and screams seeped through the walls, into the darkening room. Skylar sat in the far corner, the shadows consuming her, hugging her legs as she pressed herself against the wall. Silent tears stained her face, her tears the only thing that spoke of hope. The only thing that spoke of humanity.
"Why are they here? Why, why, why!" she screamed in her head, holding it tight. A flash of a whispered light exploded not far from where she sat, engulfing her now in blinding light. Skylar squeezed her heard tighter, the pain of others felt. Her eyes shot open quickly to the sound of rapid gunfire.
"C'mu I sint sere's somesin n 'ere!!" the muffled sound of what Sklyar knew to be a man holding a gun, no doubt waving in his squad.
"Just go, please, just go," she thought, squeezing herself further into the corner of the room. Faint footsteps approached her as her heart quickened to an alarming rate, as time slowly seemed to slow down. The sudden creaking of the door caused her to jump. "Oh no," she thought as she stayed hidden as best she could in the corner. The face looked around quickly, but then slowly backed up, the door closing behind him as he called down.
"Sere's o un ere!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Skylar shivered from the cold that had settled, she slowly got up, now sure more than ever that they'd all fully left the house. She tiptoed down the stairs, her hair swaying on her shoulders as she peeked around the corners. Now was her chance, her chance to get out before they came back, realizing that there had been indeed someone in the house. She swung the door open and, forcing her way through, shot to the cover of the forest. Her feet pounding against the earth and the distant beat of her heart rang in her ears as she heard something far behind her.
"Oh God, please hear me. Just let me escape this hell of hate and war. Everywhere I turn, I can't help but see the suffering of others around me. How can people do this to each other?" she cried into the air, wisps of her breath protruding from her lips as she spoke. She kept running, despite the aching of her legs and the stitch that held tight at her side. She peered over her shoulder, feeling she was being followed, to see nothing there. She didn't stop however, afraid that someone might be in the shadows.
It seemed like hours in which she ran, the moon running along side her. She finally collapsed to her knees, under a bridge, panting for breath. She stuck her feet into the icy cool river that ran below the bridge, relief overflowing her as she relaxed slightly, keeping her guard up.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skylar's eyes fluttered open unconsciously, a warm heat hitting her suddenly, as she realized it was afternoon. She jumped up, realizing the time she lost, and looked around, seeing the coast was clear. She quickly headed off again, walking in the shelter of the forest, off the path and road. She stopped short; a branch had just snapped, and something went 'shhhhhh'.
"That definitely wasn't a bear," she told herself as she began to run, hearing shouting behind her. Her legs pounded faster and faster, the branches hitting her with no remorse, scratching her arms and legs till no end. As the sun finally started to set behind her, signaling at least some hope of escape by cover of darkness, Skylar felt herself ebbing away from reality. "No, not now," she whispered to herself, urging herself on, her breaths coming in sharp gasps.
Her vision began to turn hazy, her run slowing slightly but still keeping fast as the moon shown in her face. She made sharp turns, sliding on the floors, bounding off the trees, wading through rivers, trying all she could to escape them. She didn't know how much further she could keep this up as her head started pounding. Her foot smashed against a white flower, meaning spring was coming soon; when the days would become longer, and the cover of night would fade ever so slightly. She screamed as her foot gave way, forcing her forward, tumbling down a steep hill.
"ARGH!" she screamed, as she crashed into rocks, bumps and tree branches. She picked up speed nearing the bottom, as she heard her hand crack and a sudden pain shoot into her head. Her eyes, misty and clouded with tears, saw something approaching as she came to a sudden halt at the bottom, her legs and arms tangled in the long skort she wore.
"Come on. There's no way she made that fall," a man said from the top of the hill as he stood from his kneel. The men behind him shifted as they turned to go, some going to the side, leering over. Most of them spoke as they headed back, scraps like "Psht. Why do they bother to run?" and "They're going to die anyway, might as well face it."
She felt something against her head, a shiver running up her spine, but a sudden pain overcame it as it reached her neck. As she looked down, her eyes widened as she saw an animal with four legs, bigger than it should be. Her gray fur gave birth to a howling as she started to fade away, losing all feeling in her body, the howl becoming an echo that bounded off the inside of her head.
>< sorry if it's a little confusing, though... xDD

I'm going out on a whim here... >->;;
Day by day, night by night. hour by hour, Memory by memory.
Memories pass, nights fade. Hours take Flight Day by day
Scholars teach, Books preach. And I write, night by night
Staring at the clock, tick and tock Hoping for fantasy cloppity-clop Staring at time, Wishing for rhyme, Going to school; hour by hour
Waiting for night, living by day, children will play, even when skies turn gray. Holding her close * loving my family, Living large, Memory by memory
>w<

Uhm...Here are a few of my poems. - heart the Cat Calls!- Mew.
A twitch of the tail, a ripple of fur, a deafening hiss, a pleasing purr, a shift of the gaze, with an apprehensive stare, an affectionate mew, floats through the air, an arch of the back, a shift of the paws, a leap through the air, without any flaws, pearly white fangs, bite down tight, defending herself, she'll put up a fight, she walks away, and settles down, emitted from her, is a peaceful sound.
-Cat Calls
You call me a nerd, cause I carry a book, you call me a geek, and rag on my look, you call me a goth, cause of the clothes I wear, you call me a fake, cause I dyed my hair, you call me a hoe, cause I'm out all night, you call me a thug, cause I like to fight, you call me a liar, cause my words aren't true, you call me a blond, if only you knew, I'm not chicken noodle, or New England Clam Chowder, what more can I say? Shall I scream it louder? *ONLY A SOUP CAN NEEDS LABELS*
