You can communicate with other Pokéwalkers and get free items. Attaching a wrist strap and swinging it steadily like a pendulum gets a ridiculous amount of watts fairly quickly. Just swing it while watching a show or something.

From what I understand, the best moments people have in WoW are the result of planning, teamwork, and social interaction. The game didn't become popular because of its grinding community.
