There are three other people in the house. I've never seen you come out of your room to spend time with anyone. At most, you might come out and start talking about some internet or anime-related thing and then get mad when no one seems to be listening. You don't engage people; you just talk at them.

Oh dear god. I do that a lot... talk at my sister I suppose. Though I don't hide away simply because our house is tiny and we live upstairs. (grandma downstairs)

I think a lot of families are like this nowadays though. Most people stick to themselves in their own rooms partly because everyone is so individualistic and doing their own things they just go their separate ways even in the home. It's kinda sad actually.

I'm starting to feel the need to be a moderator in this conversation now. We, or rather purple keeps mentioning Dude's issues. What about your issues Purple? xp

That's only because, no one likes the same things I do.
I come out to talk because I'm excited about something, and I get ignored.
So I don't count anyone I live with as people I CAN talk too.
I ignore, because I get ignored.
Once you guys do talk to me, the only thing you ever say is how stupid I am (over something, or just in general), so I leave.
I mean, what do you expect me to do, when no one likes what I like.
(even when it's not hentai, I get ignored - for example, you don't like the anime I watch because of the high-pitched voices)
That and you say they're all the same anyway.
Can't you just like something because it's good?
It doesn't have to be original EVERYTIME.

But if no one can listen to me about what I like without complaining about something about it... IE: "too common" "too unrealistic" [too whatever all the time]... then why should I bother trying at all. Everyone's always saying I should change, but no one ever listens to my ideas. (hell even mom says I'm being a "know it all" when I so much as suggest a different way of doing things)

Everyone has to pitch in. It's usually not the fault of just one person. If what dude says is true then it's not only him that makes the healthy interaction difficult. It kind of sounds like a romantic relationship. You might not always be into everything your partner is into, but it's nice that he includes you in the things that make him happy.

No wonder I prefer being a hermit.

There were lots of times I listened, but you got upset cuz I didn't go all "omg, that's awesome!" Just because I can't summon infinite amounts of excitement over your latest obsession doesn't mean I'm not interested or not caring about what you're into. Well, I don't care now, but that's a different story.

I already know I have issues. rolleyes But they're not as bad as dude thinks they are.

Perhaps, if it's come to the point where someone feels the need to moderate, we'd best bring this convo to an end. And the others too. Or at least move to the extended discussion subforum.
