Imitations don't beat the real thing. They have no real posts yet. Anyways, wedding went down yesterday and i just got home from a 7 hour drive. I'm tired as heck but i'll see if i can make some progress tonight with the RP. but for now i really need to relax. (should probably get off the computer.) Also, idk if shadowknight reads the ooc, but 19th century? They didn't even invent airplanes in the 1800's... or the UNSE... And it sounds like kagetama's mech is a gundam from that fighting series. What was it? (google) oh yeah. Mobile Fighter G Gundamcrazy series. Also, I already knew this when discussing his profile, but Extuis is a Battletech mech style guy. I tend to be the same because of my experience with the Mechwarrior series. (hence the robot picture in the RP, which I know fondly as the Blood Asp assault class mech [my favorite assault class, but not my overall favorite]) I'm just analyzing the RP's diversity. xd

I had to google Zoids...... no I'm not kidding.... anyway >o=o>
I started out with the Sega Genesis Mech Warrior game, I remember countless hours playing it when I was eight. Then I got Mech warrior 2 Mercenaries on the PC... took an hour of tinkering with stuff in command prompt to get it running right. Now, because of this RP, I recently installed Mech Warriors 4 Vengeance, Mercenaries, and the Black Knight expansion pack onto my flash drive. I have one Armored Core game... I think it's Armored Core: for Answers¿ and I remember thinking Gundams never looked much like Mechs, but got over that a few years back. Yet, I've never heard of Zoids until now. *Shrugs*
My Favorite Mech is the Marauder ^o=o^ or a Mad Cat fitted with as many small lasers as you can put on it (Devastating and low heat). Wow, looking at that page brings back so many memorys as I sit and recognize the mech names....
Oh!! I got another series to add to the list Code Geass ! (Spelling may be off slightly)

Code Geass was pretty cool. Although i still consider their mech's to be of the gundam variety. (other than the fact that they transform)
Mad Cat and Mad Cat variants were always my favorite mech. Although i tended to not mess with the delicate balance the default weapons had. (you can't alpha with a bunch of small lasers very well, but i see your strategy is sound)
Although sometimes i ditched the jumpjets for a little more armor on the legs. (didn't add much, but made a difference)
Fast, agile, armed to the teeth and can take a hit. that's how i like my mechs. xp
*looks at the RP* I think i need to tell shadowknight and extius to use the ooc room... we need more ooc here and less ooc there... stressed

I try for cockpit kills mostly, so lasers are effective. Ummmm are we going to need to work on classifying and filling out our Mech stats? Since you mentioned that earlier, I want to know if I should start working on the concept now.

by no means do we need stats. That's only if you want to be detailed and nerdgasm over your machines. I only want class, such as "Heavy" "Assault" "Medium" etc.
We also seem to measure a mech by stories tall, but weight is where the guns are at. For now I'll just ask for weight class and that'll do. if it isn't specific enough we can all just make a small change to include height. I'm doing a lot of this by feel and dealing with issues as they arise. Hopefully it won't get so complex as to scare off new RolePlayers.
I have had an uber busy day today, but i did manage to stop by and view the RP. As expected, your all doing your own thing or interacting very well with others. Don is practically stagnant, and i might consider hiring a second vice-op to eventually phase him out if this continues.
Anyone want to nominate themselves? I can make a poll for it! Who knows, maybe the vice-op can advance the plot when i'm busy like i was today.
School is going to start for me soon and I have a job interview coming up so i might be working soon too. It'd be a service to everyone to continue the story when I'm held up by school and stuff.
You don't even have to think, i'll tell you the next part of the story and you use your imagination and the NPC's to make it happen. I'll have to do the Bulletin board myself though. but that's easy.

@Lex: You mean the whole victory against pirates thing? well, i had no new news to report... crying When the story moves on well get more events.
@Angel: No, you didn't do too much. Ships are capable of thermal scans anyway. doing too much would be like.... laser designating him for a nuclear strike or something like that. xd I played along. I don't know what I'm going to do with him after Extuis docks with the Bob. i'm thinking i might take him prisoner and introduce The General from the beginning of the story. but we'll see.

@shadowknight: page 4, my post near the bottom, I gave you permission to warp and even said that your brigadier general was readying his fleet to make the jump.
This is what happens when you don't read the posts! You have a boring time and sit in one spot. xp okay, not really.
But I expect members to watch out for posts related to them. (Example) Sure, right now you don't have to pay attention to Lex's posts because he's not doing anything with him. But my posts could have something to do with anyone here.
And it's only been what? 5 pages? it's not like you can't keep yourself up to date. I have a place to keep summaries of the story every 10 pages on the front page. And if you wanted to, you can come here or talk to a member who is up to date.
When you don't and just make posts without updating, then nothing makes sense anymore. Brigadier General Hunter just went from moments to making a jump into warp, straight to chatting to your character about the 'birds and the bees'. It looks sloppy, it doesn't flow, and it creates a hassle for anyone who might have been roleplaying with you at the time.
I was in a Roleplay called Sixteenth Engine before. This guy came in and with one single messed up post and he put the whole roleplay on pause for a good few days.
Let's just say I don't appreciate this happening. No, it's not a rule. But i shouldn't have to tell you to keep yourself up-to-date, especially when i give you every opportunity to do so.
I expect you to keep yourself up to date from now on. I also hope you edit and fix, or delete the posts that don't make sense.
Maybe I'm mad, cranky, or just agitated because all this was explained in the prompt on the first page.
"You are allowed to do as you please" Don't wait for someone to come to you if you don't want to wait around. Go do something.
"I don't want to have to hold anyones hand." I shouldn't have to tell you to do everything. You've had permission to join the Carrier group Bob for well over a week now. Even if you made a random post stating that you went to join the group before i told you, nobody would have argued.

Ummmmmm, no I'm talking about the last part of the news bulletin.
Oh, and are you talking about Gavin? He caused a few of those I think, some before you came in too. I don't even remember his screen name, I think everyone decided to just call him by his character name, if I recall right..... Oh Oh!!!! Remember how you fired that warning shot.
scream "This recruits is a 20 kilo ferrous slug. feel the weight! Every five seconds the main gun of an Everest class dreadnought accelerates one to 1.3 percent of light speed, it impacts with the force of a 38 kiloton bomb. That is three times the yield of the city-buster dropped on Hiroshima back on earth. This means Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest Son-Of-A-B**** in space. Now Serviceman Burnside, What is Newtons first law!"
neutral "Sir, an object in motion stays in motion, Sir!"
evil "No credit for partial answers, Maggot!"
sweatdrop "Sir, unless acted upon by an outside force, Sir!"
scream "Damn straight! Now I dare to assume you ignorant jackasses know that space is empty. Once you fire this hunk of metal, it keeps going till it hits something. That could be a ship, or the planet behind that ship. It could go off into deep space and hit somebody else in Ten thousand years. When you pull the trigger on this, you are ruining someone's day somewhere and sometime. That is why you check your damn targets, that is why you wait for the computer to give you a damn targeting solution! That is why, Serviceman Chung, we do not "Eyeball it". This is a weapon of mass destruction. You are not a cowboy shooting from the hip!"
eek "Sir. Yes, sir."

lol, Yeah i was talking about Gavin. And yeah, i was thinking about that when i made the post. I just said to myself "Screw it" and fired a shot into space.
I just listened to that little exchange yesterday as i was playing through Mass Effect 2 for the 3rd time. It's too complicated to think about the repercussions of missing, so i just assume that every missed shot hits an asteroid a thousand years away. xd
Or trapped by the gravitational pull of a star or black hole. Space is flat anyway right? That's why the galaxy is in a disk right? rofl

Ummmmmmmmmm, I'm not sure........ Our galaxy is disc shaped, yes. However, other galaxies are tilted in all manner of directions. So, in short, I'm not entirely sure what you're asking.
Also, I had a feeling you would recognize that conversation. ^o=o^ I just couldn't resist putting that in here.

@Lex: Yeah, I'm a big sci-fi guy, I think Mass Effect is my new Star Wars. Although I'll always be a Star Wars nerd at heart.
@shadowknight (i don't even know if he checks the ooc often unless he has a complaint): Remember that post i made a while back about keeping yourself up-to-date? Well I finally got about to updating the story to include you and you followed up on the post immediately. Bravo on your punctual timing and enthusiasm. Seriously, it's good to see immediate results. But see, updating so quickly means you must have read my post right? How else could you have known I made a post related to you? Well, this brings me to my point. During the post, i mentioned that you warped in shorty after the Bob docked with the Union. It seems that your whole post is regards you warping in before my post was even made.
When i was making my post about you keeping up-to-date, i distinctly remember talking about flow. When i was talking about flow, i meant the time flow. You just went from warping in after docking, to warping in before docking, and not just that, but you Brigadier General and your own character seem to have super-human senses of observation, because although they just arrived at the scene, they know EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING ON.
This actually happens a lot in RolePlaying, you do know what's going on because you've read about it, but you just forget that your characters don't.
I'd let a lot of things slide, but consider this schooling for RolePlaying. I expect you to take these tips for what they're worth and improve your story writing. Start now by using this lesson to edit your previous post, using past tense and present tense appropriately and using the appropriate points of view. Trust me, I'm a second year college student who managed to finish all my 2 year English requirements in only 1 year. With good grades I might add.
