Don't love me for who I'm not... My father and I fell silent for awhile. Waiting to hear back from the two girls. A million thoughts were running through my head. Would this quest be potentially dangerous? Am I in any way shape or form responsible for it if anything happens to Daniella? Also where do we go when we find the weapon? Back to camp? Olympia? I rubbed my temples, trying to clear my mind of the thoughts. I thought about it for a moment, how was I supposed to conceal Laconic so that it doesnt look like I have a sword hanging at my hip.
I thought about that for a moment before deciding on what I was going to do. Just then the door of the Hecate Cabin opened and the two girls walked out. Hecate looked kind of tired from my view, but then again she had just spent hours looking for a weapon that was probably pretty hard to find.
"The good news is, it has no reached a mortal's hands." Hecate a told us, a sigh escaping from my fathers throat. I looked up at him, seeing a bit of relief flood his body.
"But the bad new is we still can't find it. Zander and I will have to do as the prophecy said and head west." Daniella finished for her mother just as the dinner bell chimed through the camp.
"I think it's best if you two get something to eat and then some rest. You'll need it for tomorrow." I listened to Hecate as she spoke and then turned to my father.
"We'll get it back dad...Don't worry." I left it at that, finding no reason to stay for another goodbye. I walked towards the mess hall, saving some energy for now.
I grabbed a plate of food and walked over to the fire. Throwing food it I thought for a moment before speaking. "Ares..." I sat back back down at the Ares table and ate quickly. Not really saying much to my siblings. Tonight I had to pack and rest. I had a feeling that this quest was going to be a bit longer than I had hoped for.
---------------------
The next morning I sat up and looked around, all my other siblings were still asleep... I knew it was going to be awhile before they got up so I stood up and quickly made my bed. I changed into the most comfortable pair of clothes I could find and checked that I had everything that I had packed from last night. Nodding with approval I grabbed Laconic, swung my backpack over my shoulder and silently walked out.
I looked up at the sky...It was a pure blue color with only a few soft white clouds in the sky. It couldn't be to terribly early in the morning, due to the fact that it wasn't all that dark out. I made my way to the front of the camp and saw Daniella waiting there.
"Um...Sorry for making you wait. I was wondering if you could help me out with something before we leave... Um...Laconic is a bit to big to be carry around, plus Im not sure what it's going to look like to mortals. Do you think you could turn it into something or make it smaller?" I laughed a little bit and looked at her. Hoping she didn't hate me to much.
But hate me for who I am... --------------------

Zander finally arrived, gracing me with his presence. When asked if there was something I could do with his sword, I smiled wanting to tease him. "Well, I could turn it into a snake again." Zander said nothing as if waiting for a real answer. I rolled my eyes and held out my hand, waiting for him to hand it to me. When he did, I held the sword in my hand.
What was I supposed to do? Say a few magic words? I thought of my Naginita flash light now in my pocket. I began to wish that his sword could change into something pocket sized when not in use. The sword began to shrink and change shape until I held a Swiss Army Knife.
"There," I said as I tossed him his new tool, "now can we leave? The sooner we come back with the weapon the better." I was about to walk out of the camp when I heard something.
"Wait!" A voice called. Rachel was running toward us, waving something in her hand. "You forgot this!" Rachel stopped in front of me and handed me a small bottle with a plant inside. The Mandrake root.
"But how did you-" I started not really knowing how to finish the sentence. I told no one about the mandrake root that my mother had given me.
"I had a dream that you forgot this and that you would need it at some point." I took the bottle and placed it in my bag. Right as I was about to thank her, her eyes were glowing again the same way they had when she told me the prophecy.
"The eldest of two shall travel west
A weapon they seek is part of their quest
A young Son of Ares, blessed be
Must travel the world and set it free"
I sighed. "Rachel, we've already been through this. We know the prophecy. Why are you-" Again, I stopped. She had retold the rest of the prophecy but her eyes weren't back to normal. Rachel continued.
"Beware the foe who once was friend
Stay the course until the west end
A foe to all whom you seek
Shall become friend until it’s peek"
Rachel's eyes returned back to their normal color and I just stared at her. "Wow," she sighed, "that's never happened before. Usually, once I tell a prophecy, that's the end of it. Not a continuation." This was, indeed, unusual. We had already figured out what the first part meant. Well, most of it, so how were we going to figure out this one?
"Well, thanks, Rachel. We better get going." I felt like an idiot for saying that but what more was I to say? It really was unexpected. But just Rachel nodded and waved as she walked back to the camp. "Well, that was weird." I said once she was out of ear shot. I turned on my heels and walked out of the camp. My fingers were tingling now that we were outside of camp. Who knew what we would face?

Don't love me for who I'm not... I caught the Swiss Army knife, silently thanking her for doing that. I hadn't done anything nice for her...Scratch that. I hadn't done anything to her but be a jerk. But, I guess its in my nature to be like that.
"Now can we leave? The sooner we come back with the weapon the better." I nodded, turning to walk out of the camp.
"Wait!" Someone yelled for us, the voice kind of sounded like Rachel's but I couldn't be sure. "You forgot this!" Rachel stopped in front of Daniella and handed her a small bottle with a plant inside. I raised an eyebrow curiously and shrugged it off. I wasn't sure what it was, but I decided it was not the time to ask.
I tuned out the rest of the conversation and slipped the Swiss Army knife into my pocket. I started to day dream about the quest and what intense creatures we were probably going to have to fight when out of the corner of my eye I saw Rachel's eyes start to light up again.
"The eldest of two shall travel west A weapon they seek is part of their quest A young Son of Ares, blessed be Must travel the world and set it free"
I tried not to laugh, we had already heard the prophecy and we had already figured it out. But Rachel's eyes were still glowing so I held in the laugh and Daniella stopped speaking mid sentence.
"Beware the foe who once was friend Stay the course until the west end A foe to all whom you seek Shall become friend until it's peek"
I listened to Rachel and Daniella talk for a moment and then followed Daniella out of the camp. "Well, that was weird." I laughed and then turned to look at Daniella. "Your telling me. So how are we planning to travel? Greyhound? Plane? Walk?" We kept walking forward, my eyes trained to the ground in front of me.

He had a point. We didn't have much money and we still had no idea where we were going. Then again, the prophecy did say something about traveling west until it's end. That had to have meant California or Washington. We had to at least try.
"I don't know." I shrugged. "We really don't have much choice. Unless you have some bright idea as to how we're going to get money I think we're going to have to walk and/or hitch a ride." I headed toward the street and hoped that some car would pass by soon.
Wait up! I heard. I turned and watched as Thanos ran to catch up. The black hound seemed to smile as he caught up. You mother asked me to watch over you.
"I thought I already had enough protecting. She practically branded me." I said to Thanos talking about my wrist. Of course, I didn't mind a tattoo but I felt as if she didn't trust me at all. Then again, another part of me felt a little more security. I could feel Zander looking at me strangely. "I can talk to dogs ok? I'm not crazy." Thanos continued.
Now about this money issue?" I turned back to Thanos really hoping he actually did know where to get some. There's a spell in your book on how to get money. Again, this was something I didn't like.
"No thanks, I'll pass. The last time I did a spell in my room I nearly fainted from the headache. Not to mention, I don't even know how much energy making money would take. Besides, there's a friend that lives by here that owes my dad a favor." I started walking toward civilization. Hoping, Frankie would be home and he would still help out.
Frankie was a good friend of my father's. We had been across the US, of course, meeting new people and my father and I doing things for other people. Frankie had been a recent add to our circle of friendship. He lived on the outskirts of Massachusetts and owned his own garage. He was our best first chance in getting some money or even a ride. We had to start somewhere.

Don't love me for who I'm not... She can talk to dogs? Okay now this is just getting...somewhat weird. No money and no ride. There isn't much two teens can do in a short amount of time to make enough money to get them anywhere. Although, using the spell probably would be a good idea I didn't want Daniella to be out of energy on our first day out of the camp. I looked down at my hands, feeling slightly strange.
"...Besides, there's a friend that lives by here that owes my dad a favor." My ears perked up when she said that. Possibly be a good sign...Even a great sign. This guy could hook us up with money or a ride. Maybe both? That could be pushing it out.
I looked up at the sky as we walked, thinking of how long this was going to take. "What kind of favor does this guy owe your dad? What could we possibly get from him thats helpful?" If he could seriously hook us up...it could be worth it. But, if its not going to get us anywhere its probably just a waste of time.
I stuck my hand in my right jean pocket and felt the Swiss Army knife. I felt comforted knowing that Laconic was in my pocket and I could pull it out at any second. I kicked a rock that was lying in my path and looked over at Daniella, waiting for her to reply.

I shrugged my back pack closer to my shoulder. Frankie owned my father his life. There had been an accident at the garage and Frankie was caught in it. My father ran inside and pulled him out. He never left Frankie's side. Not even when the ambulance got there.
"He just owes my dad a big favor is all." I said, leaving it at that. When the accident happened, I had been at school and my father told me to grab something at the garage before going to see him and Frankie in the hospital. But when I got there, everything destroyed and out of place, something told me that no mortal caused the accident. As if something bigger caused it.
We walked for what seemed like forever. A few times I even allowed Hayden fly above us to stretch her wings. I looked around the country side not seeing anything. It seemed a little too suspicious. Suddenly, a bus stopped right next to us. The driver slid the door opened and tipped his hat as a hello.
"You kids need a ride?" The man asked. I reached into my pocket a felt something. When I pulled it up, I had two dollars. Where had that come from? "So, you need that ride or not?" The man asked again.
"Uh, yeah, that would be great. Can my dog get a ride too?" The man laughed and nodded as if he let dogs on the bus all the time. I turned to Zander as if to whisper. "It's better than walking." I shrugged and handed him one of the dollars before getting on the bus. Thankfully, Hayden was still flying up in the air which didn't give the man any reason to kick us off the bus.
Once Zander had climbed on, the bus took off and I tried not to make contact with any of the passengers. Something didn't feel right about any of them. The sooner we arrived at Frankie's, the better. One lady wouldn't stop staring at me. Her eyes were yellow, at least to a demi-god. I tried to act natural but it was hard. I hated being stared at, first of all.
The bus stopped at it's first stop. I looked out the window. We were still a few streets away from Frankie's. The bus continued. I prayed to my mother for our safety in this trip and for me not to snap at the woman. A few times I thought I heard a small hiss or even growl. I then realized it was Thanos growling at the woman.
"Easy boy," I told him and looked at the woman. Her eyes still on me and Zander. "Sorry, he doesn't like strangers very much." "It's alright," the woman waved off.
Thanos, don't attack her. Please. We don't even know-
I know. Thanos stopped me. She's a Fury. I had heard about Fury's. Followers, more like pets, of Hades. But what was she doing on a bus? Couldn't she fly?
Either way, steady. We don't want to give us away. I stroked his head as if to calm him down more. Which helped. Thanos lied on the ground, closer to me and Zander as if to protect us.
The bus stopped again and right across the street I could just barely make out Frankie's Service. We had made it.
"This is us," I told Zander as if we were just too ordinary kids. Thanos was up on his feet faster than I was. I waved to the woman, hoping she wouldn't suspect anything and got off the bus. Right as we did and the bus began to move again, I looked back at the woman. Her yellow eyes still staring at me. Again I waved, but that was my mistake. Her eyes went wide and a wicked smile spread across her face. I had shown her my tattoo. The symbol of Hecate.
"We better hurry." I told Zander. Hayden landed on my shoulder. "Hey gurl," I stroked her head, "sorry I made you fly that long but it was the only way." I headed inside, hoping Frankie would remember his debt to my father.

Don't love me for who I'm not... I stared at the old woman out of the corner of my eye. She seemed different than everyone else. Her eyes were yellow and Thanos was growling at her. I ignored it for a while and stood when Daniella told me this was our stop. I was glad we didn't have to walk this far, but then again this bus was starting to creep me out. I watched Daniella as she waved at the old lady and watched a horrid smile spread across the lady's lips. It sent a shiver down my spine and I grabbed Daniella's arm pulling her off and away from the bus.
"What was with that lady?" I said as soon as we crossed the street towards Frankie's Service. I stared at the outside of Frankie's Service wondering what kind of debt that he could possibly owe Daniella's father. My hand slipped into my pocket again and I pulled out my Swiss Army knife, I tossed it up into the air and caught it again. I had a feeling that Daniella and Thanos were talking about something, but because I couldn't speak to dogs I had no idea what they were saying. Hayden was an interesting bird, pretty and faithful. But, I'm assuming that it has some sort of magical properties about it because I'm pretty sure that Hayden and Daniella could talk to each other.
We walked into Frankie's Service and I looked around curiously. It seemed like a normal auto garage, nothing really interesting about it. I also could still not think of a reason why Frankie would owe Daniella's father a huge favor. But, thats not problem and I was just going to let Daniella deal with it.
My mind started to wander and I started day dreaming about an epic battle with a huge Cyclops. I smile spread its way on to my lips, there was nothing better to do and why not? You can never get to old to have childish day dreams. My step-dad used to day dream about unicorns and tell me about it. Sometimes I questioned his sexual orientation but then I remembered he married my mom so I'm assuming he is either bisexual or straight. My mind tended to wander in awkward situations such as this one.
A man walked out, wiping his hands on his jeans. I assumed that this was Frankie but I couldn't be quite sure so I turned to Thanos, silently wondering what he would do if I pet him. Dogs were one of the only animals that I didn't hate. All other animals just creeped me out, but dogs are chill. Mans best friend they say.

Zander grabbed my arm but as soon as he did I tore it away. "Don't touch me." I spat. "And that woman was a Fury. No doubt she'll be back. So like I said. We have to hurry." We walked into the garage and it looked great since the last time I had seen it. It was still a garage but a lot of it looked new.
"Frankie?" I called. A man walked out as he wiped his hands off a rag.
"Dee?" He asked. I smiled as my small nickname. "Hey! Dee!" I ran up and embraced him in a hug. It was good to see an old friend. "Where ya been kiddo? You said you would come everyday after school." Frankie looked ever my shoulder and smiled at Zander. "And who is this?" I rolled my eyes at his assumption. He figured Zander was a guy I liked or even my boyfriend.
"Down, Frankie. His name is Zander and he's just a friend." I smiled. "But I need your help. You still owe my father that favor right?" Frankie looked down at me, not really sure where all this was going. "Well, we need either some money or a ride." Frankie raised one of his eyebrows, again, jumping to conclusions.
"Look, Dee, I know you hate your step-mom and her daughter. I mean, I don't like them either but that's no reason to run away. You gotta be strong for your dad." I started shaking my head. The Fury from the bus was sure to be here any minute and I couldn't put Frankie in danger.
"Frankie, look. I'm not running away. It's really hard to explain but-" Just then, the window broken in and three Fury's flapped their ways through the window. I slipped off my backpack and grabbed the flashlight. One of the Fury's flew towards me and tried to attack but I ran out of the way and ducked behind a wall. I clicked the flashlight and it grew back to my Naginita. I stepped out and swung at one of them but the Fury just dodged and hissed. I threw the Naginata thinking it would kill it but the Fury caught the weapon in her hands.
The Fury's hand began to sizzle at the touch of my weapon. She dropped it and I caught it only to throw it again. This time the weapon stuck deep within the Fury and the creature dissolved. I looked around for Frankie only to find him stabbing another Fury with some other kind of weapon. The other Fury dissolved and I gawked at my old friend.
"How-" I paused. Frankie clicked his weapon and it folded back into a wrench.
"There's something you don't know about me. I'm the son of a Hephaestus, Greek God of forges and fire. But how do you know about Furies?" He asked, looking at me and Zander.
"Well, I'm the daughter of Hecate and Zander's the son of Ares." Frankie laughed and smiled though I couldn't really see what was funny. "Frankie we need your help. Ares created a weapon that was enchanted by my mother and it was stolen. We need some money to get to California." Hayden flew in and landed on my shoulder. Frankie rubbed her chin and nodded.
"Alright, Dee. I'll help you out." He walked over to a tool box and began to open it up. "You should write your dad. He's been worried about you." My father. I had almost forgotten about him. I didn't doubt he was worried. I couldn't really talk to him on the phone because it was too dangerous. Frankie pulled out a bit of cash and handed it to me.
"This should get you two train tickets, at least. I don't have enough for two plain tickets." I shook my head. The money he had given us was more than enough.
"It's alright, Frankie. Thanks for everything." I gave him another hug though I didn't want to leave him. I wanted to know more about his days at Camp-Half Blood. But we had to leave and the train wouldn't wait forever.
"Tell your dad 'hi' for me." I nodded. He looked at Zander with a smile. "Nice meeting you Zander. You two stop by sometime. Then we'll talk about some real stories." He winked at us. I smiled and walked out of the garage. We were one step closer to the weapon though I still didn't know what we were supposed to be looking for in California.

Don't love me for who I'm not... I pulled out the Swiss Army knife and flicked it open, watching it turn into Laconic. I jumped at the Fury left unattended and slashed at it. I growled as it dodge, rage bubbling up inside me. I lunged at the Fury again and drove Laconic right through it and watched it disappear. I waited for a bit until Laconic turned back into a Swiss Army knife. Slipping it in my pocket I waited quietly for Frankie and Daniella to finish their exchange.
“Can't wait to hear those stories..!” I waved as I walked out with Daniella. We had a train to catch and being late would not be a very good idea.
We now had transportation to California but, neither of us had any idea on where we're supposed to go and what we are looking for. It would have helped if we had seen the weapon or seen a picture or something. I guess we will just know it when we see it. “Why do you hate me?” I kept my eyes on the road as we walked towards the train station. I was wondering but the only thing I had done to her was fight, get extremely angry and not know her name. Its not like I spread rumors about her or anything. I kinda shrugged it off and waited for a reply.
I started to wonder if we had enough money for a hotel and food, but then again if Daniella was willing she could probably make both happen with a bit of magic. I looked up at the sky as we made our way to the train station. My mind wandering, unable to stay focused on one thing.

It was hard trying to really come up with a reason as to why I hated him. Mainly, it was his cockiness that bugged me though he hadn't really shown his cockiness since the fight. His first impression was not all that impressive.
"Well, the first conversation we had was how much you could beat me. You seemed to give off a sense of cockiness and cockiness bugs me. A first impression that didn't seem to go very well. Though, I might have interpreted it wrong." We headed down a few more streets before finally reaching the train station.
"And when I screamed at you my name, you father was in the room. You're dad's the God of War which means he gives a feeling of hatred. Anything that will cause a fight. So I apologize for screaming." We walked inside and bought out tickets with a little bit cash left over. Our train wouldn't come for a few more minutes.
"Maybe we can start over. I'm Daniela Jacobs, daughter of Hecate. I prefer the night time because I love looking up at the stars. I hate anchovies on my pizza and, outside of the camp, I live with my dad, a woman I'm forced to call my step-mother who I hate along with a little leech of a step-sister." I looked through my bag making sure my "flashlight" was still there but when I saw it I wrapped my hand around it and imagined it as a mascara applicator to make it easier for travel. I felt it safer if my Naginita was in my pocket instead of my backpack. I took out the mascara and took out the applicator along with a small mirror just making use of the Naginita's new form. I placed the mascara in my pocket and took a seat one of the benches as I waited for Zander to reply.

Don't love me for who I'm not... I listened to Daniella speak, storing the information in my mental filing cabinet. I sat down beside her and thought for a moment, trying to decide how I was going to reply.
"Well I am truly sorry. Im Zander Erokhin, son of Ares. I usually like the nighttime because of the moon but the day rocks because I love the kick it outside. My favorite food is fetticini alfredo with chicken and outside of camp I live with my step-dad. My mom died giving birth and besides my real dads kids I am an only child." I rested my hand softly on the outside of my pocket. Tracing the lines of the Swiss Army knife with my finger.
I watched as the train pulled up, slowly rising to my feet and grabbing my bag. I held a hand out to Daniella, with the intention of helping her up and into the train. I was afraid she would freak out like she did on the bus. Either way was fine by me...But one response would just lessen my anger ha.

Zander held out his hand for me to take. I looked at Thanos who just watched to see what I would do. I turned back to Zander and took his hand as he helped me up. "Thanks." I said and we boarded the train. Thanos promised to follow in one carts in the back. It wasn't much but it was the only way he could follow since we couldn't afford to get a buggy for him.
I sat in my seat and watched as the train start up. Everything started to pass by so quickly. It gave me some time to think about everything. About my dad, about my mom and about this weapon. I took out a piece of paper and a pen before handing one to Zander. "I was going to write my dad. Here's one in case you want to write to your father. I was thinking about putting the letters in the mailbox before going, wherever we're going." I turned back to my letter, not really knowing all that I would say.
Dear Dad,
I met mom the other day. She's beautiful and everything more than I could ever imagine. I would use a phone to call but Chiron says it's dangerous. Demons can easily find us. Something about being a giant radar. I miss you dad. Right now I'm on a quest to find a weapon that was stole from mom. Actually, it was from Ares but it was enchanted by mom.
There's something that mom told me. She told me that the only reason why you married Vivian was because she hid my "smell." While I appreciate you doing that, you don't have to do it anymore. Mom gave me a Naginita. It's an awesome weapon which means I can protect myself. You don't have to deal with her anymore.
I always felt as if she was digging through your bank account and I know I'm right. She's not worth it anymore. I don't even think you love her. Find someone else. I know there's someone else out there for you. Anyway, I guess that's I'll for now. I'll write again soon. Any letters you want to send to me, just send it to the camp. I'll eventually get them. I love you, dad and good luck with everything. I'll try and contact you as soon as I can.
With love, You're little girl
I folded the letter and placed it back into my bag. I didn't have an envelope but I was sure I could get one at a locker post office or something. My focus turned back to the window. I worried for Hayden. This was a long trip and I worried of her constant flying.
Don't worry. I heard Thanos said in my mind. Hayden's in the cart with me. We're both safe, boss. I wanted to tell him not to call me boss but I decided I would just tell him later. But him and Hayden were safe. That's what was really important.
Eventually, as night fell, I fell asleep and awoke with my head on Zander's shoulder. I sat up and gave him a small smile. "Sorry," I told him and looked again out the window. We were getting closer to California. The conductor walked back and announced we would be to California in a few minutes. I got my stuff ready but felt my stomach growl. This wasn't good. "Maybe we should get some breakfast when we stop. That way we can decide where we're going."

Don't love me for who I'm not... I silently thanked Daniella as she handed me a piece of paper and pen to write my step dad. I stared at paper for awhile, trying to decide what I was going to write. I put the pen against the paper and just wrote.
Hey dad....
Well the camp isn't as horrible as I thought it would be. Not long after I got there I got to meet my real dad. He's not as great as I was hoping for. But that explains where I get my anger problems from. I would have called you too tell you all of this but I can't because of camp rules.
As I am writing this I am on a train to California with a girl from camp. Her name is Daniella Jacobs and the two of us are on a quest to find a weapon that my dad made and her mom enchanted. I wouldn't have had to go but a child of Ares is the only one that can resist its battle cry and it asked for a young son of Ares.
Ares didn't really tell any of his kids why he left all of our moms but then again we didn't really try and get to know him that well. It was sort of awkward but I think we were all worried about him getting angry at us. I wish I could be at home though. I miss you and my own bed.
If you meet someone new, send a letter and a picture to camp so I can approve. I'll write as soon as possible, hopefully after my quest so I can let you know how it goes. Unless of course I don't make it back. I will don't worry.
Love always, Your favorite son razz
I folded up the letter and put it in my pocket so that Daniella didn't have to worry about it. I handed her back her pen and stared out the window. This was going to be an incredibly long train ride to California. I dozed off for a little while before waking up about half an hour before we reached Cali. When I woke up I looked to the side to see Daniella leaning on me, her shoulder on my head. I smiled and looked out the window, waiting for her to wake up.
Twenty minutes or so later I felt Daniella move and sit up. "Sorry" I heard her say and I looked over at her. "Don't worry about it" I smiled, listening to her stomach growl.
'I second that!"" I chuckled as my stomach growled. I gathered my things together and stood up, helping Daniella up as we got to our stop. I stepped off the train and waited for Daniella to decided where we should go and while we waited for Thanos and Hayden.
"Well I used to live in California...And I know that there is this amazing breakfast place called the Broken Yolk. Its...Amazing." I laughed as we walked out of the train depot with Thanos and Hayden.

Daniella Jacobs
After writing the letter, I found myself drifting off to sleep. When I awoke, I realized my head was on Zander's shoulder. Part of me felt a little embarrassed while another part of me wondered why he didn't move my head out of the way. He might have been the Son of Ares but maybe, just maybe, he wasn't as bad as I thought.
"Sorry," I muttered and I tried to fix my hair as best I could. Since I had slept on his shoulder, I must of looked like the monster from the deep lagoon. My stomach growled and Zander felt the same way. I smiled at his enthusiasm and we got off the plan. Hayden returned to my shoulder and I felt more at ease. As if, she was carrying the feeling of home with her.
"Breakfast sounds good." I took out the remainder of our money. We barely had enough for two meals. This wouldn't do. We needed more money. We needed food. A thought of stealing came to mind but I pushed that aside. My father taught be better than that.
Look inside your backpack.
I opened my backpack and groaned at what I had found. I pulled out a golden credit card. I looked up at the skies as if to talk to my mother. "Really?" I asked. "You couldn't give it to us before?" Thanos laughed and shook his head.
Your mother does these things for a reason. Thanos explained. Somehow, I felt more annoyed with my mother.
"Ha!" I huffed. "'For a reason' my foot." I muttered and turned to Zander. "Looks like we're finally saved," though I didn't feel much joy. I admit, seeing Frank again was great and learning that he was a demi-god was awesome but we needed money. Asking him for money he had worked hard for, made me feel bad about using it. But it was an emergency, at the time. Hayden chirped and calmed me down. "I know, I know." I sighed. "She's my mother."
We headed towards the restaurant, Hayden and Thanos had to sit outside. We promised to bring them food while we ate. I ordered waffles, toast and sausage along with a glass of orange juice. They were the best waffles I had ever tasted. But as we ate our food, a woman walked in with her eyes set on us. Her curly auburn hair swayed as she walked. She wore a pink shirt, leather jacket, leather pants, black leather gloves and boots. Something was off about her but I couldn't put my finger on it. Several of the men marveled at her beauty. I half expected her to break out into song and dance and sing a song about being a bad, seductive woman.
"Hello, my cousins." The woman smiled and sat next to Zander but across from me. I looked out the window, looking for Thanos or Hayden but neither one of them were in sight.
"May we help you?" I asked. The woman gave a small look as if she was offended that we didn't know who she was.
"On the contrary, I have come to help you." The woman reached into her pocket and placed a picture on the table. Somehow, I knew it was a picture of the weapon of Ares that had been enchanted by my mother. "Do you know this is?" I nodded as did Zander. "Of course, you do. It's what you're looking for. Now do you know who I am?" I tried to go through my brain, trying to find a name that would fit her. I had never seen her before but I knew she was a goddess of something. Neither Zander nor I said anything. The woman sighed, a little out of frustration.
"I am Nemesis." She simply stated. I blinked not really believing it.
"The goddess of revenge?" Nemesis smiled at nodded at the recognition.
"Yes, and I've come for to help you as well as for you to help me. Hades as the weapon. He wants to use it against Zeus so he can claim is right as head of the gods. He tried to steal my sacred scale that provides worldly order so I want to see him pay." Her eyes sparked a little with something, I assumed, was the hunger for revenge. "I would go down there and retrieve the weapon myself," the goddess sighed, "but I cannot go down to the underworld but every winter. So it is up to you."

Don't love me for who I'm not... "Your mother really is a life saver..." I looked up at the sky, sending a silently thank you to Hecate. We headed towards the restaurant and I stared at the place I had grown up in. It was just as I had remembered it. The trees and office buildings. The perfect mix of city and natural beauty. When we got to the restaurant I felt bad for having to leave Hayden and Thanos out here.
I ordered french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and a glass of water. The food at the Broken Yolk was just as good as I remembered it being. I tried not to swallow the food whole so I took medium sized bites that wouldn't embarrassed. I looked up to see a women with curly auburn hair that swayed as she walked. My eyes widened, taking in her pink shirt, leather jacket, leather pants. black leather gloves and boots. I was glad that I wasn't the only guy staring at her.
I listened to the exchange of words between her and Daniella. She reached in her pocket and pulled out a picture which she laid on the table. For some reason I know it was the picture of my fathers weapon and nodded when she asked if we knew what it was.
Nemesis...The goddess of revenge. For some reason I had a bad feeling about her. It kind of sounded like she was using us to go down to the underworld....for something else. Or she could be leading us into a trap.
"How do we know your not leading us into a trap Nemesis?" I looked her in the eyes and waited for a response. Glancing at Daniella for a moment.
