Swallowing the last of the fish, Reedmist got up to bury the remains of his prey before turning to his apprentice. "That so, Wolfpaw?" He raised an eye brow at the apprentice. "Very well. I'll teach you how to keep your footing in the water as you fight an opponent." Reedmist signaled with his tail for Wolfpaw to follow as he left the camp, heading towards the river.

Wolfpaw eagrely caught up to his mentor side, they walked up to the active river that made a silent roar as the water hit against the sides of the banks. The young apprentice looked at his mentor for a sign of what to do next, he covered up his nose to avoid the fishy smell "I'm still not used to the smell" he groaned.

"And you call yourself a RiverClan apprentice?" Reedmist raised an eyebrow and gave his apprentice a look. "Fish are our main prey. They keep us full and our coats glossy." He flicked his apprentice's nose with his tail as he wadded out into the river's water. Waving his tail, he said, "C'mon, in you go."

Wolfpaw knew he liked fish, but he couldn't stand the smell like the other cats he felt so ashamed. The grey tom plunged into the water without hesitation he came bursting out of the surface with a big gasp of air and half of his body above the water. Wolfpaw sheathed his claws and dug them into the wet soil to avoid being swept up by the current, Wolfpaw gazed at his mentor with full energy surging through his body.

"Don't unsheathe your claws Wolfpaw!" Reedmist mewed at his apprentice. "If you do that then the pebbles under your paws will become loose and you'll lose your footing." He had just begun his lesson.

"But if I do that won't be swept away? and don't I need my claws unsheathed anyway for battle?" he protested. Wolfpaw sheathed his claws the apprentice planted his paws on the ground, he felt so relieved that he wasn't swept away and relized that his mentor was right.

Reedmist understood his apprentice and was glade that Wolfpaw listened to him about the unsheathed claws thing. "If your claws are unsheathed, then the pebbles under your paws will come loose and you'll slip. I wouldn't want to slip in water during a battle, but of course no cat does. Unfortunately for your enemy, he or she won't know this and will unsheathe their claws, losing their footing." A glimmer of seriousness made its way into Reedmist's eyes. "This is to our advantage because we can use their horrible footing for the technique we are learning today. Now without further ado, Wolfpaw, get into a fighting position for me. oh, and unsheathe your claws so this works better." He watched as his apprentice stood his ground in a fighting stance before Reedmist himself disappeared into the water, swimming towards the clueless Wolfpaw. The warrior swam to Wolfpaw, knocking the apprentice's legs out from under him. Reedmist then landed himself on top of his apprentice, holding him down under the water for a moment before releasing him so they both could get a breath of air. "Do you understand the technique now Wolfpaw?"

The namless kit padded around the dense woods, not really knowing where she was going, but suddenly seeing a group of Riverclan queens around the nursery, shelet out a loud squeak and tried to run, but her tierd, bleeding paws gave way and her front legs folded underneath her, and she collapsed...

Sugarleaf who was chating pleasently with her kits looked from the corner of her eye to see a firey pelted kit fall to the ground, Sugarleaf ran over and crouched over the poor kit, she put her head down and smelled the kit checking for any sign of clan markings on it, it smelled like a loner, she gently purred and picked up the kit in her teeth and carried it to the nursery she ducked her head in and squeezed the rest of her body into the small opening...

Rainkit followed her mothers gaze and gasped, she bounded over next to her mother, "what is it?" she asked following close to her mothers side as they made their way to the nursery

Cinderkit followed after his sister with the same enthusiasim, "yes mother what is it?" he asked in the same curious voice

Shadowkit sat at the nursey waiting for his mother to come back, when he set his eyes on the female kit something twinged inside of him, she was beautiful he thought, he hurrid into the nursery and sat at the entrance only gazing...

She squrimed and suealed as she was picked up in the jaws of a Riverclan queen, Sugarleaf, and as soon as the kit was placed on the ground, she ran to the edges of the nursey, her eyes wide in horror

Wolfpaw coffed up the extra water he had swallowed after his mentor had held him under water "I think so" he replied. Wolfpaw repeated the technique, the apprentice put pressure on his hind legs so he could land on top of the tom that was bigger that he was. The young tom landed on Reedmist, Wolfpaw plunged into the water as soon as he slipped off of his mentor's back.

His head breaking the water, Reedmist said to his apprentice, "Lets try this a few more times, then back to camp." And soon they did. The sun had risen to nearly Sun High. "Okay, lets go back to camp." Padding out of the water with his apprentice, Reedmist noticed the commotion at the Nursery. Walking up to Sugarleaf, he noticed a red furred bundle with her. Not one of her kits. "Who is this?"

Sugarleaf's eyes softened as the little kit backed against the door, she mewed softly and picked up the little ball of fur in her teeth, as she picked it up a name stuck in her head, Gingerkit, yes that's what we would call her, Gingerkit, she purred to it and soothed it murmering sweet nothings into the kit's ear

"Oh geez," Reedmist said jokingly as he padded toward's Snowstar's den. "I hope I'm not in trouble."
