One last puff of the cigarette, he cracked a single eye; glancing at the stick of cancer. . . or what was left of it. Lucky crossed his ankles. Thoughts of the nearby future created creases on his brow.
His newly acquired room mate while docile and obedient became a burden to his social life. How troublesome, he thought while rubbing his neck.

Kari had finished up cooking and put his food on a plate. She walked over into the dining room and set it on the table. She walked into the room he was lounging in. She bowed slightly. ""It's ready." she said softly. She left and went to the kitchen to clean up.

Exerting himself with a grunt, the man brought himself up with a lazy yawn. Snaps made themselves heard as he stretched once more, "Damn shoulder." The grumble mutely left his lips.
Lucky smoothly extracted himself from the comforts of the couch to the dining table. A laconic statement for gratitude was given to the girl before he began eating. A light smile grew; he had the habit of being appeased through food. Bristly emotions relaxed. His gaze intently staring into space as he ate in a slow, but methodical manner.
The broccoli first for it was infamous for alleviating the mood. He noted to himself with mild amusement; too much and you'll be constipated with gas. The cheese fused the purple onion bits with the eggs - chewy, melted cheese gave him some trouble. It was near impossible to eat with grace.

Kari started to hum again as she cleaned up all the pots and pans and utensils. She soon blanked out and before she knew it she was finished. She looked around the kitchen and sighed.
