Aksaja sighed at Petro's words, some part of him rather having to admit the other was right. It wasn't really about size . . . so to speak. But some dinky little thing like this just didn't look COOL at all.

"Well, at least if it did come to a fight, you'd be able to beat somebody with it," he replied after a moment, smirking faintly. "I could maybe shove this in an eye but that's about it."

As for breaking it . . . experimentally, he flexed the thing a little bit and when nothing disastrous happened, the lightning dragon shrugged. "Seems pretty sturdy I guess." Though he had no real idea how to play the damned thing. He hoped this class included instructions of some kind.

(( Homework link; X

Baah, bad dice =P ))

Arachne edged into the classroom, the saxophone wrapped in a red velvet covering. She kept her eyes down as she entered, not wanting to catch the Professor's eye as she'd had a little..accident with her assigned instrument.

She'd actually been looking after it fairly well until last night. She'd had a bad dream, or a sleep premonition, she'd not yet worked out which and she'd leapt from her bed in a panic, thinking that there was someone in her dorm room and had picked up the nearest thing to hand as a weapon.

It was only after she'd thrown it across the room, and then woken up properly that she realised that 1) there was no one there, and 2) she'd just quite badly dented her saxophone.

And so now here she was, back at class with a damaged instrument. She didn't even notice Sepheran until she took a seat, and she gave him a weak smile.

"Sepheran!" Petro greeted back with enthusiasm. "Didn't know the Academy even had music class or I'd've joined sooner," he added. He hefted his saxophone up with both hands, "'Course, 'm not sure how 'm s'pposed to play this thing."

When the lightning dragon tested his instrument's fortitude, Petro gave his own instrument a light tap. He didn't quite mind the sound his knuckles made against the brass but judging from the two ends, he didn't think it was a percussion instrument. "Eyes're squishy bits that y' can blind to y'r advantage in a fight. Unless y're fighting 'gainst someone who don't need to see." He paused, then gestured towards the basilisk that had joined them, "Like Seph over here."

Petro recognized another familiar face enter the classroom and gave Arachne a friendly wave and a warm smile. He remembered the basilisk had spent most of his time with the spiderkin, maybe she'd like to sit with them?

Sepheran smiled hearing Petro's voice, "Well I'm not quite sure on instruments without strings...but maybe there is a place you can blow into or something?" Sepheran replied unsurely.

Sepheran sat down next to the tikbalang lifting a hand in greeting to where he thought Aksaja was judging from Liannan's instructions. "Well, yeah I don't need them to see, but getting stuff stuck in them will still hurt, so that would be a pretty good distraction anyway," Sepheran replied before Liannan turned to see who Petro was waving to and saw Arachne quickly informing Sepheran of her presence. The basilisk immediately twisted his body remaining seated, "Arachne!" he stated happily trying to wave towards her now as well.

The covered saxophone in her hands once again, she moved seats, sitting down next to Sepheran and giving him a proper smile, with a soft 'hello' of greeting. Her cheeks coloured as she wasn't sure how to around him now - how strange that it had been easier being in his company when they were in danger! The whole date was still hanging over their heads, and she hoped to speak with him after the class to arrange when it would be now she had been shopping.

'Hello Petro.' she said, putting the saxophone in her lap and casting a nervous glance towards their Professor.

'How're you two, did you manage to get much practicing done?'

"Yeah, anything in the eye really jacking hurts," he clucked his tongue, the monster horse sounded like he was talking from experience. The tikbalang's smile widened when he saw what instrument Arachne had. "Hey! We got the same thing!" he declared, raising the sax towards the spiderkin so she could get a better look. As if it wasn't already obvious.

"Don't even know how to play it," he admitted, setting the brass instrument on his lap, much like Arachne had. What? Shouldn't he be taking his cues from her? "Just got signed up for this class today," he explained.

He supposed that was what he got for taking the piccolo on the boat trip with him, it hadn't survived very well, but meh. He had to practice, and he hadn't known how long the trip was going to be.

He glanced around the room for other people he knew, grinning at them as he did. He wasn't in the mood to socialize at the moment, and he just watched the class, hoping that he wasn't going to be in too much trouble for the damage to the piccolo.

'So you did.' Arachne said, her fingers reflexively tightening their grip on the wrapped instrument in her lap. She didn't want to drop it and dent it even more than she had already done so.

''Oh I see. Sorry, I couldn't remember if you'd attended the first class or not. I think I was more worried about being given an instrument I didn't ask for.' she said with a little pursing of her lips. She still hadn't worked out what the point of having them rank the instruments had been, other than to get their hopes up that they might get given something that would be enjoyable to play.

Professor Blue was tapping his foot against the floor in a very agitated manner as he counted the minutes and the students in his classroom. If he had a watch on his wrist it was certain he would have been watching it constantly as the time passed. The professor was not pleased to see the turn out of students that he did, counting less heads than the first class when he let in some new students. It was apparent Blue didn't like late students, so where were his students? Would he have to go to their dorm and drag their various coloured asses out of bed? He'd do it, with some Jack-awful music too.

(( I believe I have given enough time for people to post. YOU NOW OFFICIALLY HAVE UNTIL JUNE 23 @ 11:59 PST TO MAKE YOUR POST INCLUDING HOMEWORK IF YOU STILL WANT TO DO IT. If you have already posted, feel free to make a new post or edit your post with your homework.

Because Professor Blue isn't happy with his turn out, if you are a new student and want to take his class and just happen to show up (which quite a few from his previous class hasn't) with a preference sheet filled out then he will likely accept you. ))

Roch peeked into the room, a hint of worry on his face as his fingers wrinkled the piece of paper he held in his hand. He hoped he wasn't interrupting. This was so different from the way he'd been taught growing up that he was positive he'd be kicked out within the first week of school.

"Ah, sorry if I'm interrupting," the punk boil said. "But this is the music class, right?" He didn't have his guitar out, mainly because he didn't want to learn the guitar. This was the opportunity to learn a new instrument--stuff that he'd hardly ever seen back home--and he planned on taking it! "I can leave, though, if you're full already."

Not even second behind Roch, Nyyrikki flailed in and stopped just behind the boil and peeking over his shoulder. He'd run from the reaper dorms, so his hood had fallen down to reveal his messy hair and his breathing was a little labored. Otherwise, he looked pretty well put together for having woken up late.

He'd planned on getting here before the class had started so he could talk to the professor. Unfortunately, Nyyrikki had been up late with his kushi the night before, and was just thankful he'd made it while the class was in session at all. He was also thankful there was another student here, because all he had to do was hold up his own abused paper and grin apologetically.

Music. Aislin had always enjoyed music. When she'd discovered that there was a whole class for it the banshee had hardly been able to contain her interest. She'd set out immediately to the class-room... it was only just too bad that everyone else didn't require sleep like herself. The great doors had been closed fast and no one was around. Ash had to satisfy herself with simply taking a paper that she'd found and assumed was for the class. It was a list of instruments, after all.

Fashionably late she had watched as two boils had gone into the room before her. She'd taken advantage of the second one as he shoved the heavy door open and slipped inside just behind him. She stood watching as the presented their papers to whom she assumed was the teacher. Lifting her a chin the vaugly see-through ghostling finally stepped forward with a grin.

"I'm joining, too." She extended her arm, the filled out paper dangling for the teacher to take from her.

Professor Blue continued to tap his foot against the floor long after the three students had come into the classroom with preference lists. He looked at them, and then the demon gave them a smile. How could he not welcome his precious children? Oh, he had plans for you, did he ever. He accepted all three of the papers and looked at them, looking over with haste for their preferences before smoothly sliding over to the closet to retrieve instruments for them. It was a shame none of them had names on them, it was highly likely the demon wasn't going to care who he gave which instrument to.

He pulled out three instruments. The first one was an ocarina, the second one was a recorder and lastly he pulled out a flute. It took him a moment but he finally came back with the three instruments, glancing at the papers for a moment before giving the ocarina to Roch, the recorder to Aislin and the flute to Nyyrikki. Wind instruments were hot right now, hopefully his students wouldn't be too winded over his 'mistake' in giving them an instrument.

"Class will start soon and I think I'm going to highly enjoy today's class."

Jove had been intrigued with music class since he had first heard Ren sing a lullaby. He had never given it much thought before then, the classical music playing in his caretaker's great manse was just pleasant background noise, and the perky electronic music that accompanied his Scario Kart games was just more noise. Even on TV he hadn't given much thought to the music that had come on.

But he heard music class might be open, and he had been able to get his hands on the sheet required for entry. He had been told it was a preference list... For an instrument...

The pup didn't know what most of the words on the list meant, but he was too eager to get into the class to spend time looking them up in the library. So he randomly numbered them.

Seeing things looked about to start, he dashed into class and handed his preference list to the professor with the most hopeful pleading puppy look possible.

Roch took the ocarina, staring at it blankly for a long, long moment before turning it this way and that. He honestly had never seen such a thing in his life. In fact, it looked something like a potato with a handle to him...

"Um... thanks?" he said, holding it up before heading for the chairs, trying to find someone that might possibly explain what in the hell he'd just been handed. Honestly, he wasn't sure what to do with an instrument that didn't have... well, strings.
