For quite some time actually, when I was younger I would record myself playing piano to tape (songs I made up on the time) - and do various distortions with the tape deck. Then I went though a period where I didn't want anything to do with music, now I have a little bit of a dj setup at home - I don't really produce anything; more like play around with sound.
