It doesn't matter what anyone says, the only one who makes the choice is yourself. But the fact was she was picking something that she didn't strongly associate with. And that's not discriminating. Me discriminating would be saying something like all wolf furs are stupid because of what this one person did. Discrimination is treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination. No need to define discrimination, I know what it means.
And you were discriminating because you were saying that people who pick an animal they don't behave like is incorrect and frowned upon.
It is a group.
And you were making a distinction against them. Did I say group? I was only talking about one person. It was implied that people who make the same choices are incorrect.
Many racists talk about one person they know, and it's implied they mean the entire group.
We can argue the technicalities of words all night long.
Either way.
Furries do not have a set of rules to follow.
You can be anything and everything you want.
Anyway you want.
A purple chicken that barks like a dog.
Or a calico cat that curls up by the fire.
It doesn't matter.
It's all about what each individual person wants for themselves. |

What's your favorite animal? i like domestic cats and woodland cats like bobcats and lynxes i like wolves but not dogs so much. not to contradict, but i try to avoid anything that is threatening or frightening at first glance.
Hm.
Do you mind having a common Fursona?
You could go with domestic cat.
Or something exotic but small: sand cat, Pallas cat, etc.
Small cats that are still wild. |

Domestic cats are pretty common.
Snow leopard can be a little foreboding, but I think they're cute 'cause they're so fluffy!

And then after that you write it all up and find someone to do art for you!
