He walked among the other kin not of the mountains, eying their wares. At some point he had planned to be disdainful, but the sheer variety of unknown items piqued his curiosity. Spiral shells like land snails', except larger and in greater variety, and all manner of berries and leaves he could not recognize.

Today, though, the totoma was not interested in purchasing a physical thing. No, he was most curious about the new kin and their "dreams". He scanned the keepers behind the wares, wondering what sorts of stories they could possibly have. Like the items the kin sold, the totoma had planned to be unimpressed - and really, none of them looked strong to him - but he still found them all somehow enchanting.

On the other hand, they were all born with names, getting them from a dream, which made them seem so ... meaningless. He wanted to know the tales of their names, these dreams they had, to see what supposed qualities they bore alongside their names. And how a kin could take pride in a name freely given.

He had been told not to take pride in the name he had carved for himself through seasons of trickery and lies, but the fact remained that he had made the others call him something. Unsightly as his name might have been, he had earned it.
