He continued to work at it, working on one end o the knot and seeing it fall away, leaving a bit of knotted pain but it was manageable. He could do this.

With one final tug the Fear untangled, the knot completely gone, and he could not hold back his sigh of relief. The scent went so far as to lean up and butt its head against his hand and he stroked it with a small smile, waiting for instructions on what to do next.

Watching as they worked, the minipets in question seemed to be rather pleased about how things were turning out for them, several beginning to walk around the room alongside the totem that she herself had unwound a little bit. "Some knots will be bigger. Some will be smaller. Sometimes the fear just needs to be..untwisted." It wasn't much of an explanation, more than a brief overview of what it was she was showing them to do.

And they seemed to be doing well with it - a basic skill, after all. "If you practice this enough, eventually you won't even need to expose the FEAR to perform it."

With that in mind, however, she pulled a clipboard off of her desk with several papers attached to it and passed one to each of the students. "Before you go, I want you to take a moment to give me some notes on what it is you would like to do with your futures. Because as much as I can teach you all in big sessions like this, I have decided that on top of that, I will be dedicating some time to giving you individual tutoring so you may have more specialized skill sets.

For that, I need to know what you would like to learn or do."

Setting the clipboard on the desk, she sighed softly. "Once you have done that, you may go back to your day. That was all I had for you today - but do practice. It's a good skill to have."

HAVE SUM HOMEWERK GAIZ

- Just give me a brief note on what kind of specialization you think your student would like to have. If you need any ideas on stuff, PM me and I'll help you work something out (I have a list somewhere I've been trying to find, but yes. XD)
- This means that I will be giving people 1-on-1 lessons from here on out now as well! O_O!! There will still be these general Mentoring lessons for basic skills like the untangling and healing 'boosts', but there will also be private meetings depending on the variance of the skill sets wanted.

- For participating in this mentoring session, your student has gained +1 to their FEARhealing roll OOCly as well as the ability to untwist unbroken limbs as well ICly!

Watching her little minipet able to move around the room filled her with glee. Although it didn't seem as healed as the one the professor was handling, it was still moving about. She was getting better at these healing skills, and was ecstatic at her improvements. It was then that she was given a sheet, and Professor Cricket had begun talking about...

Individual training.

Individual training

With Professor Cricket
.

Astra was gob-smacked by the sheer notion that the professor was going to offer them private lessons. It was a little frighting to be tutored by her all by herself, but on the flip-side, the things she could learn!

On that note...what did she want to learn?

There were many things that could be done in the field of FEAR-healing, but even with the multitude of choices, the fairy found herself leaning towards the area of plant-life. Her father, being a druid, specialized in using plants to make various potions. She had grown up around flowers and plants, and felt more confident in combining her FEAR with them to enhance her abilities and cure all kinds of problems.

As she thought more on the subject, she began to jot down her notes

Quote:

- Using plants to heal injuries and illnesses
- growing and nurturing pumpkins to help with dissipation
- making pumpkin pills and other healing items.

Fret fret. As almost a minipet himself, Jove was hesitant when it came to actually working on his minipet. He didn't want to hurt the thing, and not all pets knew that some hurt was sometimes necessary to healing. Sometimes HE didn't even realize it entirely, preferring to shirk away from painful stimuli even though it was probably in his own best interest.

The bizarre little totem seemed to pick up on his hesitation as he began, and started making a weird bellowing noise, and then flopped over on it's other side. Oh great.

Jove shifted to the other side of the cot, and offered his hand to the minipet, palm up. Like an apology. But the totem was having none of that! It made another grumpy noise, and began chewing on the tips of Jove's fingers. The pup's ears flattened. What an ornery little thing.

Jove was nonplussed. He pulled his hand away and stared for a moment, trying to figure out how to communicate with this odd minipet. It wasn't like a foxfire, responding to his body language and hand gestures... So what would it respond to?

Jove huffed, and stubbornly shoved his hands into his pockets. And then... Inspiration struck!

He withdrew his hands, one containing a small FEAR candy he gave to his foxfires after a good walk. The totem stared. Jove moved it back and forth in front of the little thing, and it followed the treat with it's eyes and began salivating. Jove touched it's leg, and the thing didn't flinch, so intent was it on the candy.

With a snort of trumph, Jove popped the candy into the creature's champing mouth, and began working.

For once, Jove was glad for his tiny fingers. The knot he saw was faint, and even squinting it was difficult to pick up a specific thread and begin unknotting. Even though he was careful, the string seemed to unravel in one spot only to tangle up in another. Soon he realized he would get nowhere there, and moved onto another thread.

Glancing up at the totem's face, Jove was satisfied to realize it was still nomming on the candy like a happy pet. It would give him more time to work, but it was a pretty tough knot. The pup had to shift around the cot a little more, trying to spot a better place to work from.

Nope, no easy way to get at it from here either... Jove grumbled, causing the totem to stare at him blankly for a second. At least he wasn't hurting the thing worse than candy could handle!

Jove finally spotted a second he could get his fingers around, and resumed work. He was having more difficulty on this task than the others it seemed. Was it because he was still little? He certainly didn't have the same dexterity as the veterinarian-in-training, or the nimbleness of the were-mantis...

But he couldn't get discouraged, not when this little thing was depending on him! It was just like in the field, wasn't it? He had to do his best for the people depending on him!

Without getting discouraged, Jove shifted again to get a better look at the strands of FEAR. This was a good injury to practice on, it was easy to distract the patient, and not life threatening or time sensitive. And even though it's initial reaction was stubborn and difficult, the totem was turning out to be a good patient. It seemed oblivious to everything, eyes squinted happily as it rolled the candy around in it's mouth.

Slow and steady seemed to be doing the trick, as long as he didn't lose patience the pup was able to get his fingers on one particularly tricky thread. It was close to the source of the knot, but once it came free it seemed the totem felt better. Jove had to hold it's paw gently to keep it from moving it.

One particular wiggle on the totem's part tugged the string a bit tighter, tangling it even as Jove was trying to unknot it. That was no good! The ghost let out a grumbling murmur, urging the totem to just stay still a little bit longer...

Had this patient been his brother, Jove would have smacked him. But it was hard to communicate with this totem, and the pup had to settle for waiting until it stopped fidgeting and making another attempt. But he could only tangle it further from this angle...
