It is Memorial Day...the day I post this...so in honor of it I sent a Poem to all of the people on my friendlist...and posted it in my main thread.
I figure I should post it here as well:
A Moment In Time
Somewhere, someplace a heart is aching Longing for those whose lives have gone Somewhere, someplace a heart is breaking A loved one will not come home A loved one will come back Colors have bled into white and black Today some of us roam freely The price of that freedom is war Freedom, what many are willing to die for So this day, Memorial Day Stop, think, and give thanks To those who died so we may live Stop, think, and give thanks To those unselfish ones who put themselves in harm way So that we may live another day Freedom is so sublime Give them a place in your heart May this small unworthy rhyme Bring those fighting for us all A moment in time.
This is written by Sanguvixen/Lutra Silverwing/TRP. If you want to print this out, or show it to other people that is fine with me...HOWEVER, you must include something that shows other people who made this poem so that they know who wrote it.

Uh...mind explaining to me what a villanelle is? I've never heard of the term before. sweatdrop

You know, the way that poem flows, have you considered making it a villanelle?Uh...mind explaining to me what a villanelle is? I've never heard of the term before. sweatdrop It's a style of poetry that works like this:
1) It is a poem of nineteen lines. 2) It has five stanzas, each of three lines, with a final one of four lines. 3) The first line of the first stanza is repeated as the last line of the second and fourth stanzas. 4) The third line of the first stanza is repeated is repeated as the last line of the third and fifth stanzas. 5) These two refrain lines follow each other to become the second-to-last and the last lines of the poem. 6) The rhyme scheme is aba. The rhymes are repeated according to the refrains.
I know that sounds complicated as f**, so here's an example. It's my favorite. I actually don't like poetry, but every now and then...
Wendy Cope Reading Scheme
Here is Peter. Here is Jane. They like fun. Jane has a big doll. Peter has a ball. Look, Jane, look! Look at the dog! See him run!
Here is Mummy. She has baked a bun. Here is the milkman. He has come to call. Here is Peter. Here is Jane. They like fun.
Go Peter! Go Jane! Come, milkman, come! The milkman likes Mummy. She likes them all. Look, Jane, look! Look at the dog! See him run!
Here are the curtains. They shut out the sun. Let us peep! On tiptoe Jane! You are small! Here is Peter. Here is Jane. They like fun.
I hear a car, Jane. The milkman looks glum. Here is Daddy in his car. Daddy is tall. Look, Jane, look! Look at the dog! See him run!
Daddy looks very cross. Has he a gun? Up milkman! Upmilkman! Over the wall! Here is Peter. Here is Jane. They like fun. Look, Jane, look! Look at the dog! See him run!
Well, there you go. That's a villanelle. I only mentioned it cause some of the lines in your people seem to repeat in meaning, and I think with some thoughtful placing and rewording it would make a nice villanelle.
