[PRP] Its a Shiny! Catch It!

Ray took a wide step to practically hop up next to Yuri as the battle started.
"I want you to hang back this round." she started to explain, tiling her head to face Yuri slightly but keeping her eyes on Repede. "So you can watch Repede, you're a fighter so you've probably used to being able to spot you opponents movements, and learn them? Well same thing. Get a handle for now Repede does his thing on his own and how the Eevee battles." Ray suggested

She knew that Yuri had the skills to understand what she was telling him, she just felt like she should clarify how it applied to this situation.
"Rule number one! the better you know your pokemon the better the team will be."

"Watch? I guess I can do that," although there was a distinctive pout in his voice and expression. It was tough being a fighting addict when you had to stay out of a fight.

He listened to what Ray said, all the while watching what happened.

The Eevee turned to meet Repede's attack, taking the brunt of the impact and cringing under the electricity as it slid back in the mud a couple feet. The little Pokemon then leaped forward, running speedily towards Repede in a Quick Attack.

Barreling straight into him, Repede was knocked back as well. The Growlithe quickly shook it off though and then prepared himself for his next attack.

She grinned, but fell quiet, letting him watch.
This would be good for him, and especially with the way she suspected Yuri would be battling with his Pokemon.

Though this gave her a sudden mental image of humans being trained like pokemon.

As the battle continued she focused on it, wearing a mild smirk as she stood next to Yuri.

Repede huffed and then charged at the Eevee as well in a Take Down attack.

"Veeee!" the little Pokemon shrieked as he was sent flying, then rolling into the pond he had just been drinking out of.

Growling angrily, the Pokemon now sopping wet and his ears hanging down, the Eevee pulled himself from the water. He then took a moment to shake out his coat, the muddied water flying from his fur to reveal something unusual. The makeshift bath having served to clean him somewhat, the majority of the dirt washed away to reveal an abnormal coat color. The silver strands of fur glimmering in the sunlight.

Ray was used to seeing some oddly colored pokemon by now, especially after spending over a year here in Kodo, where it didn't seem to be all that rare of a thing at all.

When the Eevee stepped out of the water and shook, she wasn't expecting it to be an odd color from a standard Eevee, but after a couple of seconds she couldn't really be surprise anymore.
It was as she stared at it that she noticed the shine to its coat that her eyes slowly widened.
"... Yuri!" she burst out in a sudden urgent realization. "Yuri FREAKIN' Arcius Yuri that is a Shiny Eevee. THATS A FREAKIN' SHINY!"

And Yuri just stared at Ray with that calm indifference, looking at the woman as if she were crazy. And perhaps she was.

"Something special about that?" Yeah he had no clue what a shiny even was, much less thought he should be excited about it. But Ray clearly was.

The Eevee, now wet and with his coat color reveals, cringed in revulsion as the human woman freaked out nearby. This was EXACTLY why he tried to stay dirty! To cover up his coat and keep crazy people like that away from him.

The Eevee growled in annoyance, then leaped at Repede to take out his anger on the Growlithe in a Bite attack.

Ray stared at Yuri for a couple of seconds before her palm hit her hair. Oh my gosh non trainers.

Ray pointed to the Eevee. "Its a rare alternate coloration in pokemon that naturally occurs. but if you notice that shine it has to its coat, that's how you know its a shiny. No matter where you look in any of these unique and special pokemon you will never find that kind of affect in anything but natural Shiny."
Ray arched her eyebrows "Its SUPER rare. You should be excited! most trainers go all their life without seeing a shiny."

Yuri blinked at her then looked back over to the Eevee. "Huh... all right." Probably a rather lackluster response than what Ray was hoping for. After all.. to him a Pokemon was a Pokemon. Who cared what color it was? ... Unless it was like hot pink with hearts or something. He could do without that.

Repede yelped at the Bite, backing up a few paces and opening his maw to spit out a ball of fire in a Flame Burst. Yuri continuing to watch the movements and attacks of both Pokemon as they continued to attack each other. The Eevee's fur getting a bit singed and Repede temporarily blinded with the little furball threw mud in his one eye.

However, the Growlithe seemed to prevail as after one Take Down attack, he pinned the Eevee down. The canine huffing and snarling and the Eevee looking visibly worn out.

Crouching down where she was standing to watch the fight with a doubled excitement.
This was amazing, this was a natural marvel, something humans had no control over, they could breed up and manipulate the way pokemon look all they wanted but this was a gene that humans had no control over. It was just more evidence of how mysterious pokemon still were to humans, and just how much more there was to learn about them.
And THAT was amazing to Ray.

"Woh now Yuri, try to contain your excitement." She teased.

He might not have been able to appreciate this, and that really was a shame, but maybe someday he'll learn to really appreciate what this was in front of him.
Not only was it from a rare gene, but it had an amazing attitude and drive. How freakin' lucky was he.

There was a little smirk at Ray's words as Yuri continued to watch the fight.

"Sorry, I'm not exactly obsessed with Pokemon like you are." He was never a science type, so the whole ordeal really didn't excite him.

As it became clear that the fight was winding down, Yuri looked down at the red and white sphere in his head.

"So... I just throw it right?"

"Obsessed" Ray snorted with a laugh, pushing back to her feet and extending her arm to punch his shoulder. "Passionate yes, obsessed? You would be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't get excited about this. though I guess that makes you a rarity like this Eevee too."


She crossed her arms and nodded her head toward the pokemon. "It looks about ready to go, you've got one chance."

Yuri's smirk broadened at the punch to his shoulder. "Hey, where I'm from, you'd be hard pressed to find a Pokefreak like you."

The man then tossed the ball up and down in his hand a few times as he eyed the Eevee who was panting by now. Having squirmed out from underneath Repede, but his attention still focused on him.

However, the shiny Pokemon's ears perked up as he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. Just as Yuri lobbed the ball in his direction.

Oh. Crap.

The Eevee started to turn, getting ready to make a break for it. But being stopped in his tracks when the ball conked him on the head. "Vee!" Causing him to fall over backwards. Splayed out on his back, the little Evolution Pokemon was promptly sucked into the ball.

Yuri looking on with a hand on his hip as the ball fell to the ground and began wiggling.

"You're hard pressed to find anyone like me anywhere." She pointed out "League included." This was added with a shrug, Though all of her attention shifted toward the pokeball as it took in the pokemon and started to wobble.

This was always the worse part, and it always seemed like it went on forever, especially when there was only one shot.

"Heh, yeah I guess you're right," Yuri admitted. He couldn't deny the fact that he'd never known anyone quite like Ray before, even here in Kodo. But then he didn't really know anything about the League either.

He then watched as the ball continued shake, as if the Eevee were fighting against it. However, he seemed to finally give up as the ball went still and there was a distinctive "ping" sound.

"That's it?"

Ray grinned when the ball sealed properly, looking over at Yuri
"Yup, that's it, You have successfully caught a pokemon in a pokeball! pretty spunky one too. Nice job!"
She congratulated with a grin. She might have been more excited, since he had caught a shiny! But he made it clear with his actions that he wasn't to impressed with that.
Ray might have been jealous, not just a rare breed but a rare temperament in pokemon too, one that was very usable and strong.
But she had her team, she would not have caught the pokemon anyway.
