[FIN] Learning a Little

It was strange to think that someone who grew up in a total absence of pokemon culture would be so interested in it, but Luke supposed he was probably just projecting his own initial disinterest on her. Her genuine enthusiasm was refreshing, though it was clear that she had a lot to learn to even begin training for battle. He nodded in response to her request, releasing his team to stand opposite Rosie's: a Flareon, an Aggron, a Pidgeot that differed in features from the other, an Umbreon, and an Eevee.

She was a little more prepared this time, and thus didn't gasp for his as she did for Rosie's, though her eyes still widened once again as she looked at them all. They each had so many, and they were all so pretty. "They're magnificent," she said, marvel ebbing away as enthusiasm replaced it, "absolutely magnificent. What kind of pokemon are they?" She asked, looking between Rosie and Luke. She had seen a couple of Luke's the evening before, namely the large metallic one and the small black and purple creature, perhaps a couple of the others, but she still had no idea what they were - and it was a little embarrassing. Luke was from Grande Ile as well - it was still odd to think of him as Luke and not Lucien - yet that didn't seem to mean much now, as he had quite a lot of pokemon of varying sizes and shapes and colors. All of them, though, all of them were beautiful.

"I guess I should mention that none of these are colored like you would find in the wild," Luke said, noting the array of appearances. "Oh, except Pop," he gestured to her. "This is a Lopunny, and the colors are called shiny. It's naturally-occurring but really rare." He went around the assembly of pokemon to name them all, "The others are Flareon, Aggron, Pidgeot, Umbreon, Eevee, Sawsbuck, Vaporeon, Raichu, you already know Rapidash, and-- Perdy is also a Pidgeot, but Leste over here is shaped differently for some reason, probably because of something to do with breeding." The indicated bird shrugged her large wings for lack of further explanation. "Is there any specific one you'd like to know more about?" She seemed to have a healthy dose of curiosity to her, but he couldn't imagine her immediately memorizing all of the kinds, let alone the types if he suddenly listed them as well.

"They're not?" Nicolette asked, glancing from Luke back to the array of pokemon again. The majority of the pokemon she'd seen were all a variety of different colors, and so she had assumed that being different was natural. Maybe it was only that way if they were from breeders... She listened intently as he named all the species and gestured to them respectively, though towards the end she found herself already forgetting the first couple of them. Goodness, were there a lot, and with such varied names... "I'll try to remember all of them," she said with a nod, though her determination was masked by uncertainty. She internally repeated as many of them as she could remember to try and memorize them, and while she was interested in knowing their types, she wasn't sure she could handle memorizing all of those at the same time. Thus, instead of that, she asked, "What do you mean by shiny colors?" Oh, that rabbit was absolutely precious.

The pokemon offered various greetings as they were introduced. Rosie let Luke take over introducing them, but nodded in agreement when he made sure to tell her that they were all a bit different from what a standard pokemon looked like.
"Well, it gets it name because every pokemon that has the alternate natural colorization have this kind of shine to their bodies."
Rosie walked over to pop who was eyeing the humans with an arched brow.
Reaching out to take the Lopunny's hand and holding it to Nicolette to show her the shiny pink fluff on her arm.
"do you see it? Here, actually, if you would like-" Rosie let got of Pop, reaching to her hip again where she came back with her Pokedex, flipping it open and shifting through it for a couple of seconds before handing Nicolette the device, that now displayed the picture of a normal Lopunny.
"Thats what they commonly look like."

When Rosie elaborated, the young noble nodded as she quickly processed and internalized the given explanation, even if she didn't fully understand it. Thankfully, the blonde moved to show her, and Nicolette followed quite eagerly over to the rabbit pokemon. She leaned a bit closer when the arm was held out, noting how it did indeed seem to have a bit of a shine, though without something to compare...

"Oh!" She said, a bit surprised as a device was pulled out and handed to her. Before looking at the pokemon on the screen, she instead looked at the device itself, turning it over in her hands as she studied it. "What's this called?" She asked before finally righting it again to look at the Lopunny on screen. Her eyes shifted between the graphic on the screen and the creature standing before her a couple times, before she nodded. "I think I understand what you mean now," the girl said, though it would have been best were there a normal colored one there as well. It was a little more difficult to see the minor differences when one was a picture and the other was real and tangible.

"This is called a Pokedex, every trainer gets one when they register, Its supposed to register what pokemon you encounter in your journey, and help you learn about them." Rosie smiled, reaching over to shower her how she can shift from pokemon to pokemon, viewing all the different ones that Rosie had encountered. "And here is a Pidgeot. what they look like normally."
She stopped on the bird pokemon.
"Its a handy tool, had all kinds of information."

"Ohh..." Nicolette studied the device more, and watched with rapt attention as Rosie shifted through pictures of various pokemon and their information. That was... a lot of words for each one. Clearly, if she wanted to learn about pokemon more than just casually, it would take a great deal of time and effort. Not that she was against such a prospect, but she had no idea if her Father would be, or if he would deem it a useless frivolity. But how could he? Some of these were just so adorable, or so pretty...

When Rosie brought up a normal Pidgeot, Nicolette studied it as best she could before looking between the pair of birds Rosie and Luke owned, then back to the device in her hands. "...ohh, I do see what you mean, yes. So most of them look like this?" She asked as she handed the pokedex back to Rosie, and made a mental note to look into a lot of these things later on. Maybe a little bit of research wouldn't hurt... Besides, Father did tell her to explore and learn about Kodo, and if pokemon were such a big part of it, it stood to reason she should learn about them, too. "It seems like a wonderfully useful device, yes," the girl added brightly, "and you say they just give them to anyone who registers?"

Perdy seemed to perk up when the younger girl looked over at him and Leste, poofing his chest out a little as he started to make conversational chirping and clicking sounds.
He glanced over at the other Bird, holding himself up high and slicking his feathers back down before he hopped over closer to Nicolette
Lowering his head to Nicolette's heights and holding a wing out to its full span.

Pop rolled her eyes and swatched at the wing that got in her way

Perdy said sounding somewhat offended by her words, pulling himself back to his full heights and crooking both his wings

Rosie smiled watching Perdy, reaching out to stroke the feathers on his chest as she looked back at Nicolette.
"They do, its a standard tool for all trainers, very important."

When the pink Pidgeot started 'talking' and hopping towards her, she tensed at first in case she had upset him, but it quickly became clear that his intents were harmless in nature, and the girl relaxed and smiled at him. As the rabbit came over and swatted his wing and they continued, she couldn't help but cover her mouth with both hands as she giggled, then turned to Rosie with an amused grin, "Are they talking?" What were they saying? Whatever they were saying, she was sure it was adorable. Regardless, she turned back to the bird with a smile as she half-lowered her hands, "You are absolutely stunning." And she loved those colors, oh goodness.

Oh, trainers? "What do you mean, trainers?" Hadn't Luke mentioned those? Nicolette lowered her hands as she turned back to Rosie, "Is that what people with pokemon are called?"

"Yeah" Rosie replied "To each other, we can't understand what they're saying, but it seemed like they seemed to communicate with each other pretty well. If you ever watch them, you can tell sometimes, especially if they're arguing or something."

Perdy perked up at the complement from the humans and started to chirp again,
"Perdy liked to talk." Rosie added with a light giggle.

At the question of trainers Rosie tilted her head "Well, yeah kind of, A lot of people have pokemon that are not trainers, but being a trainer usually means that you are allowed to battle pokemon in the League, with competitions, enter in the gym challenges, witch is a series of very powerful gyms that you have to beat in order to get badges from them."

Nicolette giggled again, thinking it absolutely adorable that they were conversing between themselves, as well as the fact that Perdy liked to 'talk' a lot. That was adorable. Her attention returned to Rosie when the girl began to explain, and she nodded at her words. That made perfect sense - though she didn't know what gyms the blonde spoke of or what kind of badges she meant, or what this 'league' was. "So how do you know if someone is a trainer or not?" She asked, tilting her head a bit. So far, it sounded as if either could have pokemon, but one could do a bunch of things the other could not. Why was that?

"Well, you can usually tell by what they're wearing, or by the pokemon that are with them." she explained, but a hand made a gesture to the Pokedex "But trainers get one of those, its like an ID." She swayed on her heels "Only trainers get one of those."

Honey-colored eyes shifted to the pokedex Rosie indicated, and her mouth formed a small 'o' at the explanation. "Oh! I see," she said, brightening a bit. That made it quite easy to tell who was a trainer and who wasn't. She had quite a few more questions, which she would put to them over the course of the next couple of hours.
