[FIN] Hard to Handle

The nurse nodded and, since neither had any questions for her, she turned and departed.

Luke, suddenly drained to exhaustion, leaned his forehead into his palm as the nurse took her leave. He would spend the next length of time in restless silence, competing against doubts that staff were being completely truthful, talking himself away from fears that something would go awry, and fighting back empty panic.

Rosie had managed to move herself into a seat next to Luke, unable to say much as she tried not to worry too much, she wanted to believe that Sera would be okay... But she had to worry for her friend, and her friend's family. Where was her mother and father? were they hurt?

At one point when Rosie felt like she had enough bravery to speak, She had called some of their friends, to let them know that Sera was in the hospital, and that she would keep them updated, Ray had been startled, and surprisingly concerned. Being all the way in Sagestone town though left her stranded out of the city.

With Perdy nestle next to her, watching the two humans closely, Rosie clenched her hands around the phone in her lap, looking over at Luke as the stunned and thick silence continued.
"You watched it happen, So you were there?" She asked, still thinking about the few things he had said.

The unexpected question was oddly unsurprising, rooting in his head the same as any other thought. He gave a small, terse nod in response, his eyes absent of light.

Her brow furrowed, not sure what else to say, Luke looked... like he wasn't okay.
He replied with only a nod, so she didn't continue.
"Do you want something to drink? Water...?"
She asked, they had been sitting there for a while.

This question took a bit longer to register, as though he had forgotten the existence of human needs, and he eventually shook his head in a small motion.

She was hoping he would say yes, getting up and walking about might help with the tensing in her neck, plus, sitting here was hard, waiting for hours for news on how their friend was going to be, wondering what happened and how everyone else was.

Her knee bounced a little, trying to fight back the impulse to start crying the more she thought about it, it had already found its way into her throat.
"Okay." she said, with another nod. "I'll be right back."
There was something discomforting about the fact that she knew were vending machines were by the waiting room, as well as a small store within the hospital that she could get water from, Having been in here more times then she would have ever wanted.

Picking up the bag from her seat, to grab some credits, and looking over at Perdy, "You too sweety, Thanks for getting me here so quick."

The bird clicked his beak, lifting his neck a little higher.

I'll be right back. Instinctively his hand moved to hold her wrist, an expression of silent terror in his features. If she walked away now, there was no guarantee she would come back, nothing to promise she wouldn't become another face he would never see again-- But Sera was alive, and if he couldn't believe in that, he wasn't sure how he would live. The dismay in his face quieted, and with a murmured apology he reluctantly withdrew his hand.

Startled when she found his hand take her wrist, she had not expected it at all, but she stopped dead where she was, looking over at Luke with a questioning look that only grew to surprise at the look on his face.
She felt a deep pain in her chest grow to the point where it was becoming unbearable.
"W- wha-" She started to ask, completely at a loss. What was wrong, of course this was odvious, Sera was in surgery after a truck hit her car.

When he let her go, she hesitated, not sure what to do, but try and remember how to breath without hurting.

"I'm sorry," he said, repeating the phrase slightly more audibly. "I'm sorry. Go ahead."

She still hesitated watching him, unable to keep from worrying. She knew he must be taking this hard... he saw it happen, he had enough problems to deal with, and now they had to wait to hear news of their friend will be okay or not.

Reaching back down she took his hand. "maybe walk around a little?" she asked, uncertainly.

Reflexively he closed his hand on hers, though his response came after a slightly longer period of time: a light nod, and he moved to stand in compliance, green eyes distant and unfocused.

She took a step back to allow him to stand, but stepped back over to him as her hand squeezed him. Trying to swallow the lump in her throat she tugged his hand lightly, "Luke... She'll be okay... Sera's tough, really tough."

"I know," he said, using the words in an effort to convince himself. "I know, but…" His other hand, raising lightly to his chest, implied the rest of the sentence. It was too easy for people to disappear.

Her eyes flicked down to the hand that he moved to his chest for a moment, waiting a couple of seconds for him to finish his words before she bowed her head, and nodded.

Why did these things keep happening?

She stepped forward, either not wanting to say anything, or not sure what she could even say, and just placed her forehead on his shoulder, gripping his hand firmly.
So... so sorry this kept happening to her friends... Why.
