[FIN] Down and Out

Her eyes slid to his hand as it touched her shoulder. Honestly she highly doubted there was anything he could tell her that would make her feel better, unless it was that the entire past year of awful s**t that happened was all just a long, terrible dream. Not that she'd believe that, though. Everything would be different - everything already was different - and she sniffled a bit as she focused her gaze down at her knees. "I know..." Everything already was tough and difficult, and she couldn't even fathom a list of all the things she couldn't do anymore because of her arm. Too many things, for sure. She sniffled again, then rested the mug of hot chocolate between her knees so she could raise her hand to wipe at an eye in an effort to prevent tears from falling again. "I know, I just.. I..." She seemed to shrink into herself more, but such an action shifted her knees and the mug started to fall. With a small intake of breath, her left arm moved as if to catch it - and she might have done so, if she wasn't missing her hand. The mug fell to the floor with a clatter, spilling the rest of the hot chocolate on the floor, and Sera wilted further as her short arm dropped back to her lap and she started to cry again. Well look what you just did, girl. At least that's one thing you could do - make a mess on the floor. Good job.

Yuri blinked once as the mug fell and shattered, but otherwise he seemed unbothered, especially as the girl started to cry. It was a relief really.. he'd rather see her cry than just sit there and act like an emotionless shell.

"Don't worry about it," he told her calmly before bending down to pick up the pieces and clean up the mess with one of the towels.

One of the waiters came over to assist and Yuri handed off the dirty towel and pieces of mug to her.

"Is everything all right over here?" the waitress then asked.

"Don't worry about it," he repeated stoically, before the woman left a bit hesitantly.

Even as he told her not to worry about it, Seraphine couldn't help but continue to cry. Not only had she made a mess of the floor, but she'd ruined the mug as well - and now Yuri was cleaning up after her mess, her mistake, her accident. Accident. She really hated that word now. While part of her wanted to apologize for her poor behavior and her mistakes, she couldn't do so - her tears and quiet weeping prevented that. It was difficult to speak or give voice to anything when you were crying too hard.

He didn't like to see girls cry, but it was just one of those things. It was often better to just let it out.

Once he'd picked up all the pieces of the mug, he set them aside on the table. Yuri then pulled his chair over to her and sat. Putting an arm around Sera, he said nothing.

He could tell her it would be okay, but he didn't really know if it would or not. All he could do at that moment was offer her a shoulder.

When she felt his presence at her side, she instinctively turned into him and continued to cry, while her internal chastising continued relentlessly. Yuri could have said any number of things, but in all likelihood she wouldn't reply, and would just continue her crying until the phase had run its course.

And Yuri just sat there in supportive silence himself. Letting the girl cry as much as she wanted to. His face unreadable as he watched the rain fall. As he waited though, the rain continued to slow and finally let up.

Eventually her weeping ceased, though a few stubborn tears continued to slide down her cheeks, and she endeavored to wipe them away as she sat up in her chair - or at least sat up enough so that she could slouch in it again. Either way, she was no longer leaning on him. The rain had finally stopped and it was a little obvious that she should probably go home so she wouldn't continue to wear on everyone's nerves, especially Yuri's. He had done so much for her already, and all she was doing - and continuing to do - was overstay her welcome. She should've left ages ago; he had probably been in the middle of doing something and she interrupted him with her carelessness. She should just leave. The brunette made efforts towards saying such thoughts, but her recent tears prevented her from voicing much more than a few quiet sounds that didn't actually sound like anything intelligible, and her inability to speak made her wilt. Completely useless.

When she finally stopped and pulled away, Yuri turned to look at Sera with a knowing smile as she tried to speak but couldn't quite do it.

"C'mon, I'll walk you home," he told her before rising from his seat. He then went and paid for the spilled hot chocolate and took a moment to write something down on a napkin before stuffing it in his pocket.

Returning to Sera, he motioned for her to come with him. She would have to lead the way though, since he didn't know where she lived.

She merely nodded meekly in reply before standing and following him out, and silently continued to follow him - until it became obvious that how would he know where she lived? He wouldn't, stupid - and she moved ahead a little to slowly head towards the rather dreary-looking apartment building in which she lived.

While Yuri would have expected Sera to live in a much nicer place, he wasn't fazed by the type of housing they came to. Actually, it was a lot like the type of place he lived in. He looked around a bit but seemed rather impassive. He merely just kept following her.

Were Sera in a better mind or more talkative mood, she probably would've at least deigned to explain her current circumstances - but as she wasn't, she didn't, and she remained silent as she slowly approached the building, and her pace slowed as they neared it. Eventually she gestured vaguely, and quite lamely, at it with one - her only, now - hand, and spoke in very quiet, defeated tones, "Just upstairs." Though her words were short and oddly phrased, she appeared at least vaguely clear of mind enough to know what she was talking about, and her tones hinted at an unspoken desire - the desire to not bother him anymore, as him helping her up and dealing with her for so long had in all likelihood, in her opinion, been far too long, and he was likely more than ready to be done with her. If she could just convey the fact that she could get upstairs alone just fine, he could leave and needn't be bothered by her anymore, but she couldn't even form a full sentence. Her internal criticism continued in the form of calling herself a pathetic nuisance, though she made a small attempt to remedy it in the form of quietly adding, "I'll be fine."

When Sera feebly tried to tell him she was okay, he just smiled weakly and placed a hand on her shoulder. He then began walking towards the stairwell.

"What number?" he asked.

Apparently he was intending to see this through.

Her internal criticism continued to rage at her at the same time she thought that he was being far too nice to her, she didn't even remotely deserve it, and she wilted slightly under the weight of her thoughts. Luckily she could at least convey a neutral statement, though knowing that he'd only continue to help her despite likely thinking her such a nuisance made it less neutral than she would've liked, but she couldn't even think of anything to say to try and convince him otherwise. "318," she replied quietly as she followed after him, her gaze downcast. "Third floor, near the stairs."

And up the stairs they went, Yuri being completely ignorant of her inner turmoil. Not that it would have made any difference otherwise. He still would have made sure she had gotten home and her mother should at least be aware.

Finding the door that said 318, Yuri knocked on it. Sera probably had a key but this way her mom would at least be alerted of their presence if she was there.

Sera did indeed have a key, but before she could even voice such a fact Yuri had already knocked on the door.

Said door opened to reveal a teary-eyed, brown haired woman who looked like she'd seen better days, given her mildly disheveled appearance despite wearing higher quality clothes. "Yes?" She asked expectantly of Yuri, though her light green eyes darted to the brunette behind him, to which she held out her hand with pursed lips despite the concern in her eyes, "Sera, where were you? You should've been home ages ago."

"Sorry," was her soft, rather dejected response.
